[if anyone has attempted to contact Nami to wish him a Merry Christmas, they'll have been informed that the number is currently not in service. this might have something to do with the fact that, inside Nami's trashed apartment, his phone is sitting in a puddle of paintwater, sparking. Nami's nowhere to be found!


there's a frantic Kai calling for Nami as he makes his way through the park. he can feel that Nami's still in the dressing room, but there's a wall between their connection so solid he can't sense anything other than that.]



(ooc: Nami got a heart for Christmas. unfortunately, he's had a lot of negativity 'bottled up' so to speak, and the sudden onslaught of proper emotion wasn't taken well. he's in hiding, having taken a portal straight from his apartment! responses will be from Kai, at least at first, despite the fact that the post is from Nami.)

I found him. He's safe.

[She looks at Nami, now worried about Kai as well as him.]

[seasides]

[he exhales shakily, but sounds relieved when he speaks again.]

Good. What happened?

[dawnrise]

[She's quiet, only the sound of her breathing as she considers what to tell him. There really only is one thing, though.]

...Nami has a heart.

[seasides]

What?

[Kai sounds so startled. but then he sighs.]

It definitely could have been worse. Alright, let him know that he'll be welcome home whenever he's ready, and I'll be cleaning his apartment up for him.

[dawnrise]

Got it. I'm going to be with him for a while, so if you need to call us you can.

[And if something bad happened to Nami while Riku was with him and they couldn't call, Kai would know, because Axel would know. But saying that is Riku's way of also saying "don't worry, I'll make sure he's okay, you staying where you are would be for the best".]

[seasides]

Okay. Take care of him.

[as if he even has to tell her to do that.]

[dawnrise]

I will.

[She's smiling when she hangs up the phone, and turns back to Nami.]

He said you're welcome home whenever you're ready.

[fading]

[Nami looks sort of guilty after she says that, but nods.]

Thank you for telling him.

[dawnrise]

Sure.

[She pockets her phone, looking out ahead of them.]

He also said he'll be cleaning up your apartment for you.

[fading]

[okay, definitely cringing now.]

Did... you see it?

[dawnrise]

[She shakes her head.]

No. Kai gave me the gist of it.

[fading]

[he sighs, feeling bad that Kai's taking it upon himself to clean up his mess. he would have done that once he'd gone back and calmed down.]

[dawnrise]

[She gives Nami's hand a squeeze, shaking her head.]

He'll feel better if he can do something to help. Even if it's just cleaning your place up.

[fading]

Mm, you're right.

[still, it doesn't seem right. he appreciates the hand-squeeze nonetheless, and offers her a tiny smile.]

[dawnrise]

[She smiles back at him, then turns back to where they're going. A nice long walk should at least give him time to think, without having huge buildings that just reek of bad memories there to influence that line of thought.]

[fading]

[it's pretty obvious he wasn't thinking when he headed there of all places, huh. the walk really does have him relaxing! which has him realizing his throat hurts.]

...I think I need something to drink.

[dawnrise]

[Relaxing is good. Pain, not so much. She glances over at him when he speaks, then shrugs and starts looking around again.]

Should be a stream nearby.

[fading]

That works.

[he doesn't really know this area that well, all things considered. he didn't even know about the stream.]

[dawnrise]

[Riku likes running off to explore. Especially when she can take Serein with her. There's a pause, though, and then she glances around. Considering how cold it is...]

It'll be freezing, if it's not frozen. Are you cold?

[fading]

Not very.

[he'd already had a sweater on when he suddenly got his heart, so he's been kind of dressed for the cold, at least.]

[dawnrise]

If you say so.

[She has a jacket on over a long-sleeved shirt, and it's not the best outfit for hanging around outside for a couple hours, but she'll manage just fine.]

[fading]

[if she shows even the slightest hint of being cold, he'll probably suggest they go back, or at least somewhere warmer, because he'll feel guilty.]

[Riku's tolerance for cold is just that - tolerance. She doesn't like the cold much at all, but she won't say a word or even look like it. As they travel, Riku's eyes are mostly on how things change. Going from all that darkness and barren, scattered trees to thicker forest, and heavy, snow-covered limbs.]

[fading]

[if she ends up sick somehow because of him he'll be pretty sad. he's visibly relaxing by now, standing a little straighter, and looking less miserable overall. even if he's still feeling emotionally exhausted and all.]

[dawnrise]

[She won't end up sick, don't worry. She's glad to see he's starting to relax, even if it's only a little. It's not something that's going to be magically fixed under any circumstances, but seeing it start to ease up is good.]

What were your plans for today, before that happened?
