[if anyone has attempted to contact Nami to wish him a Merry Christmas, they'll have been informed that the number is currently not in service. this might have something to do with the fact that, inside Nami's trashed apartment, his phone is sitting in a puddle of paintwater, sparking. Nami's nowhere to be found!


there's a frantic Kai calling for Nami as he makes his way through the park. he can feel that Nami's still in the dressing room, but there's a wall between their connection so solid he can't sense anything other than that.]



(ooc: Nami got a heart for Christmas. unfortunately, he's had a lot of negativity 'bottled up' so to speak, and the sudden onslaught of proper emotion wasn't taken well. he's in hiding, having taken a portal straight from his apartment! responses will be from Kai, at least at first, despite the fact that the post is from Nami.)

[Nope. Hearts are too unpredictable. He'll have to figure out that stuff as he goes. She'll start leading him out, back toward the housing area.]

[he goes along easily, though once they start getting closer, he's going to start shrinking in on himself a bit in worry.]

[She's going to squeeze his hand, looking faintly amused, but sympathetic.]

[but he'll try.]

[That's good enough!]

[oh, good.]

...do you think Kai will be bothered by the fact that I haven't lowered the block yet, even though he knows what's going on now?

[dawnrise]

No. I think he'll understand that you need some privacy right now.

[fading]

[he nods a bit, having figured that. he can't seem to get over this nonsensical worry over Kai somehow disapproving of his actions.]

[dawnrise]

If you're still worried you can borrow my phone and explain it to him.

[He could even text it!]

[fading]

No, it's alright. I'll explain once we actually reach him. I'd rather do it face to face.

[dawnrise]

Alright.

[She's secretly glad for that. She thinks it will do them both some good.]

[fading]

[it really will! and there'll be hugging. and possibly crying.]

[dawnrise]

[Riku will stay behind for that one. Anyway. Apartments?]

[fading]

[yes indeed. also that's fine, he'll prefer that particular bit to just be between him and Kai.]

[dawnrise]

[She figured that much. To the apartments!]

[fading]

[the hallway outside of Nami's apartment has several pieces of small furniture lining the wall, all recently cleaned. they'll find Kai inside the apartment, scrubbing paint off part of the floor. he's already got new sheets stacked up on the small dresser in the hallway. Nami starts shying back automatically upon seeing him.]

[dawnrise]

[Nope. Riku's grip on his hand tightens and she gives a light tug, stopping where she is.]

[he doesn't know why this nervousness is here. some part of him knows Kai probably sensed them as soon as they even got to that floor, meaning there's literally no reason at all to be trying not to let him see him or something. he takes a deep breath and looks at Riku, then moves to go through the doorway.]

[seasides]

[Kai stops what he's doing immediately, straightening and sitting back on his heels. they're both going to get a small, relieved smile.]

Hey, you two.

[dawnrise]

[Riku gives him a small wave with her other hand, staying behind Nami (sorry) and silent. But she's smiling back, a calm one of her own.]

[fading]

[Nami just watches as Kai pushes himself up and dusts himself off. what he wasn't expecting was for Kai to immediately hug him right after coming over.]

[dawnrise]

[Now that makes her smile much bigger. She's going to stay where she is for a few seconds, then start slowly backing out again to give them space to talk.]

[seasides]

[Nami's already starting to stutter apologies to Kai, for trashing his apartment and making Kai clean it up, for blocking him off, for running away. Kai shushes him pretty quickly, placing a hand on his cheek and touching their foreheads together as he murmurs about understanding just fine, and that he's just glad Nami is safe and feeling better. Nami makes a sound like he's going to cry and Kai just tilts his head to kiss Nami's forehead and pull him closer so he's got a shoulder to wet if he does end up crying. it's oddly intimate.]

[Riku's in the hallway well before they get to that point, and will remain hanging out in there for as long as she needs to. She's pretty sure they both need this right now.]

[they both definitely need this. if she's still there about ten minutes later, Kai'll be slipping out. there's a very noticeable damp spot on his shoulder, but he's pretending it's not there.]
