[if anyone has attempted to contact Nami to wish him a Merry Christmas, they'll have been informed that the number is currently not in service. this might have something to do with the fact that, inside Nami's trashed apartment, his phone is sitting in a puddle of paintwater, sparking. Nami's nowhere to be found!


there's a frantic Kai calling for Nami as he makes his way through the park. he can feel that Nami's still in the dressing room, but there's a wall between their connection so solid he can't sense anything other than that.]



(ooc: Nami got a heart for Christmas. unfortunately, he's had a lot of negativity 'bottled up' so to speak, and the sudden onslaught of proper emotion wasn't taken well. he's in hiding, having taken a portal straight from his apartment! responses will be from Kai, at least at first, despite the fact that the post is from Nami.)

[he just shakes his head a bit, not really seeing a point in using his phone to contact Kai when he has that connection to him.

also if Serein comes over she's getting pettings.]

[She loves pettings and will try to get all around his legs if he's standing, and jump up on him if he's sitting. Riku, who Axel totally passed in the hall, enters the kitchen at that moment shaking her head.]

Why am I not surprised they let her on the bed?

[though even if Kai knew, he'd probably have allowed it anyway and all that. anyway, Nami is sitting, but he'll gently push her back down if Serein does jump on him!]

[here he comes, bouncing back down the stairs. he's really much too tall to be so enthusiastic so often, it's a wonder he doesn't just break shit wherever he goes. Nami's getting a small, square box set in front of him.]

[If they want dog hair in their bed that's their choice. She dodges out of Axel's path (she thought he broke shit anyway) and goes to make herself a cup of coffee while Serein says hello to Apricot.]

[he blinks at the little box before carefully opening it, tilting his head a bit when he reaches the contents.]

It's to help keep you from getting hurt by the psychos in this place. It'll let me know if you hit some sort of crisis point where you're in danger, although considering your bond with Kai he might know before I did, but then if he and I weren't together there would be two people who'd know.

[he pulls his own talisman out of his shirt to show Nami; it's got a striped hyena on the front and a circular array of tiny symbols on the back. Nami's has a raven on it.]

[Riku glances over from nosing her way through some cabinets, interested in Nami's reaction.]

[he shoots Axel a small, fond smile and looks down at the talisman a bit more.]

[he belatedly realizes the other symbolism behind it about the same time his mun did, because of the way Nami said it, but shoulders determinedly ahead anyway.]

A raven. There's a card that explains what it symbolizes. I ended up only picking animals that I was familiar with from the desert, actually, totally by accident.

[Riku's listening so closely she hesitates to move, but then she closes the cabinet. She has obtained (1) Honey! Back to her coffee cup.]

[but he just smiles and carefully closes the box, not ready to put it on just yet.]

I did one for your naga friend, too. I know he's still pretty naive about how a lot of people in the dressing room can be.

[he pulls another small box out of his pocket and slides it across the table to Nami. it doesn't even have the ribbon on it that Riku's and Nami's had, so Nami can look at it if he wants. (it's a porcupine, if he does.)]

[says Riku as she mixes honey into her coffee.]

He thinks I'm aggressive and closed off to hide my squishy inside.

[he's going to open his own box again to peek at the card, clearing his throat to read it out with some amusement.]

It's all true. And ravens are cool, and really smart. Crows are just kind of rude.

[gets up to get another muffin and perhaps goose Riku, she seems to be in a good mood today (now that Nami's alright).]

[If she gets goosed she is going to make a highly indignant and high-pitched noise in her throat, and Axel will be elbowed if he doesn't dodge it.]

[he's never really run into crows before, so he wouldn't know.]

I'll make sure Axel gets his as well. Thank you.

[no, he doesn't dodge it, he's too busy being a little deflated at Nami's lukewarm reaction, which he knows now is at least partially because of the bird > cage thing. but the rest of it is surely because of the emotional stress from earlier, so he's not taking it too hard.]

You're welcome. Obviously I'd much rather there be no need for them at all, but that'd be a lot harder to do.

[She bumps her shoulder with Axel's when she turns around, coffee in hand. It's subtle and she's not even looking at him, making her way over to the table to bat Serein down away from Apricot and sit herself.]

[he can see that, and feels a little bad because he knows Axel would never intentionally do something to hurt anyone in his family. so he's pushing himself out of his chair slowly and moving to give Axel a hug.]

[what's that? everyone still loves me? EVERYTHING IS FINE NOW brb lifting Nami slightly off the floor in a hug. he set his coffee down somewhere at some point, or maybe it just vanished in the wake of his mood bouncing back.]

[One of them might catch her rolling her eyes, but it's good-natured, don't worry. Mmm, coffee.]

[wheeze. he's not used to this sort of thing at all; he probably humored Axel's hugs before he got a heart, but not the big lifty ones. personal space :(]

[those two words don't mean much to him when used together like that. but he puts Nami back down after just a few seconds, looking much cheerier.]
