[this pregnant female Axel is reclining on a couch in the common area closest to the family hall, dozing a little with an arm draped over the bulge of her stomach. she jerks awake, though, when there's a sudden spasm that kind of hurts. she's dozed off again, fifteen minutes later, when it happens again, and she sits up a little, looking alarmed.]

Speaking of Dad, I saw him in the hall. He's either going to ride a chocobo or kill someone. I ran before he found me.

[he snorts a bit at the mention of Ri either chocobo-riding or killing something.]

Right, I think he's organizing a camping trip or something. But as much as he's supported us, having him here is possibly not the best idea. We don't need him yelling about the baby falling out if Axel sits up or something.

[What? He did. But she says this affectionately, because she appreciated having him there. Axel, however... probably not. Speaking of, Riku's gently pressing the back of her hand to the side of Axel's head. Most of her attention is on the pregnant lady, sorry. She's watching for any subtle changes.]

[has another contraction, making a quiet pained noise and tensing up, and trying to remember to breathe. her body temperature's pretty low, compared to usual (which makes it only a little lower than a regular person's), since her body's focusing its energy elsewhere right now.]

Well, since you're going to kick me out on my ass in a minute anyways, I'm gonna go feed this guy. I doubt I'd be much help with all of this baby stuff.

*He gives Kira an affectionate head rub before offering a wave and making his exit, looking back to see if Apricot is following.*

[Riku's beginning to think 'later' won't be too long from now. She's a little alarmed by how quickly the contractions appear to be coming, though the 'low' temperature isn't too worrying...]

[it's not that quickly, not based on what this mun has open for reference. it's when the contractions start getting longer that it won't be too long. if Riku's alarmed NOW, though, how will she feel when Axel's chakra level suddenly dips drastically and then surges back up too strong a moment later, making the closest lightbulb blow. somewhere in the middle of that she goes limp in a faint, though she's already lying down, fortunately.]

[how do you think he's feeling about this right now? he has no idea what to do, and is trying very hard not to panic in front of Kira.]

[Fortunately for you guys, Riku does exceptionally well under stress... And she knows showing that she's freaked out will only make things worse. Oh, and she is quite freaked, but as she's talking she's also checking Axel's vital signs, among other things. Man, all that heavy research she did on birth was about being in the pregnant one's shoes. You think she's ever done more than assist on this side?]

[comes around almost immediately, mumbling a little and batting at Riku's hands.]

[she hesitates then quickly presses a kiss to Axel's cheek, then to Kai's cheek (though she had to tug down her Uncle for that one damn tall people)]

[Riku moves her hands as soon as Axel starts doing that, but she doesn't move too far away. She's hesitant and much more worried than she looks.]

'm fine, was just the baby's chakra detaching from mine, 'n Hachibi trying to compensate for it. He told me it was gonna happen, but I didn't know it'd be that bad.

[makes grabby hands for Kai. come here, husbandu~]

So how do you feel, right now?

[sorry, I figured since things had gone so smoothly so far, we needed a moment of sheer panic-- I mean. pulls Kai close enough to rub her cheek against his hand, curling up on herself a little more.]

Kind of like I want to go under the bed, or maybe in a closet somewhere, but that's probably just Hachibi's influence. The contractions hurt, but I've had way worse in my life. I know it's... supposed to get worse, though, right?

[glances at Riku for the answer to that. ._. ]

[sighs softly, just staying where he is now. he definitely isn't going to let go of Axel now, even if it ends up in a crushed hand for him.]

You'll get through.

[If it looks like Riku's hesitating, it's because she's trying to figure out how to word this. She glances at Kai, then back to Axel, and half-smiles.]

Yeah, it gets worse. The contractions start coming faster and staying longer. But Kai's right. You'll be fine. And I wouldn't recommend going under the bed, but do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

[She shrugs.]

I walked and set the bed on fire.

[snorts a little and smooches Kai's hand. also why is everyone assuming there will be hand crushing. I would think there would be movies or TV shows about it if it happened as much as you make it sound like.]

I don't feel like doing much of anything right now, but I'll probably get up and move around later. That's how I usually end up dealing with pain, if I'm allowed--

[cue another contraction, which makes her grimace and squeeze Kai's hand (though not enough to break anything, gosh).]

[mostly because you're stronger than average? also Ri did not help the situation with his talking about being prepared for that because Sora broke his arm during labor. but he's squeezing back, looking concerned.]
