[this pregnant female Axel is reclining on a couch in the common area closest to the family hall, dozing a little with an arm draped over the bulge of her stomach. she jerks awake, though, when there's a sudden spasm that kind of hurts. she's dozed off again, fifteen minutes later, when it happens again, and she sits up a little, looking alarmed.]

[knows perfectly well that someone will be coming in to check on her within a few moments, but that's fine. she'll just catch her breath and bask in the quiet and try to get her mind to settle down. oh, and wedge herself into the corner between the toilet and the wall, sitting with her legs drawn up to either side, just in time for another contraction that makes her grit her teeth to stifle a groan of pain. none of you out there heard that, so just leave me alone for a few minutes. B| ]

Ah... a little bit. Axel's going to be giving birth sometime very soon. But I think we've got a bit of time, if you needed something?

[he figures Axel will- do you really think he didn't hear that he has super hearing right now- tell them if it gets too bad, sooo...]

[Riku's free to talk. This one's keeping to herself for now, eyes on the book as she listens for Axel.]

[he's glancing at Riku a moment, then the bathroom before blurting out:]

What do you know about Marluxia?

[...that's almost enough to make her want to come out of the bathroom. almost. instead she'll mentally squabble with Hachibi about the rest of this process and if there's anything he's hiding from her. Kai could come in any time. >.>]

[he tenses, shoulders hunching up a bit at that name.]

...I don't think I have the time to explain about him right now, there's too much to say. But he is exactly the type of person you want to avoid, Riku. He's too much like the people back in your world.

[he's... he's going to go see Axel now, yeah. sorry Riku, he'll apologize for being so short about it later.]

[Riku opens her mouth to say something, then shuts it. If Axel wants to be alone, she'll definitely tell Kai. So she... looks back at the other Riku, not-quite-curiously.]

[he looks somewhat anxious, though it isn't as much about what Kai just said about Marluxia as one would think. he has after all, already met the one in question.]

Is Axel going to be okay?

[smolderingf1re]

[looks over when the door opens, unconsciously pressing herself further back into the corner (not that it does anything, since she's wedged as far in as she can be already), and abruptly feeling silly for having gone there in the first place. she doesn't say anything, though, which is a sure sign that she's anxious and stressed out.]

[kneels down in front of her, looking quite concerned.]

Anything I can do, love?

[She smiles at the younger Riku, nods, and quietly shuts her book.]

He'll be fine.

[captive_destiny]

[he's still a little wary of her, but not nearly as much as he would be if she weren't a Riku and weren't female. he's more worried about how someone is going to deliver a baby here, without a doctor at least; he doesn't realize this Riku is also a mother.]

Is.. Is there anything I can do to help?

[--hang on, another contraction, with an accompanying grunt of pain. shakes her head when it's over, awkwardly wrapping her arms around her knees as best she can, and resting her cheek against her arm.]

Fuck. No, just... don't go anywhere. I need you here or I'm not gonna get through this. A-and I know you wouldn't leave or anything, but... this is just really scary. All of it.

[he sighs gently and takes a seat on the floor, then gestures at her to come over.]

I'm not going anywhere, don't worry. I'll be with you through all of this, I promise.

[dawningcoast]

[Hey hey hey, doctors are not required to give birth. Riku pauses, trying to think of an answer for him, but to be honest?]

Right now all we're doing is waiting.

Do you... want some company?

[he's trying to be more open, though he tends to think of himself as some rather poor company, indeed.]

[extracts herself from the corner and settles against him, back to the wall, legs draped over his.]

I wonder how much longer it's gonna be. What did Riku want, anyway?

[pats her leg a bit, frowning at the question.]

He wanted to know about Marluxia. I'm going to have to talk to him about that bastard after all this is finished.

[Riku pats the... chair floor teacup place or area she's sitting on beside her, and offers up the book.]

It might not be long until Axel's screaming for everyone in the hall to get away from him, but you can stay for now.

[as he's still in the habit of sitting on the floor half the time, he'll be settling himself beside her in a smooth movement]

Is it really that terrible to go through?

[scowls at the name and wraps her arms around his neck.]

Please do. I can only guess he's asking because he met the bastard, which is bad enough. I might even-- ow, fuck.

[draws her legs up and presses her face to his neck for another twenty seconds of pain in strange places.]

Nn, they're coming faster. That means it's progressing, right?

[strokes her hair a bit, nodding.]

Yeah. We should probably head out of the bathroom soon, unless you want to give birth in here. I mean, if you do, it's your choice, but it probably wouldn't be too comfortable.

[smooches the top of her head.]

He's been through way worse. It hurts, but it's... hard to describe. He'll pull through.

[Does Riku want to look at the birthing book? It has pictures!]

They've been in there a while, though.

[are they traumatizing pictures? he doesn't have much experience with children, especially infants.]

[makes a face and shifts so he'll be able to get up and help her up off the floor.]

No thanks, my ass is already going to sleep. The way I was sitting before felt pretty good, though.
