[this pregnant female Axel is reclining on a couch in the common area closest to the family hall, dozing a little with an arm draped over the bulge of her stomach. she jerks awake, though, when there's a sudden spasm that kind of hurts. she's dozed off again, fifteen minutes later, when it happens again, and she sits up a little, looking alarmed.]

[Wow, they're coming pretty fast. She shakes her head in response to Riku's question, but she's focused on Axel. If there was anything around here to help, she wouldn't know where to find it, or how to use it.]

[he looks pretty disappointed with that answer, and isn't sure what else to offer Axel to help other than to stay out of the way and wait to see if they suddenly need something as the hours pass]

[so it's been a couple more hours, maybe as many as three, and THERE IS SOME PAIN UP IN HERE. Axel's curled up on her side on the bed, hair plastered to her face and neck with sweat, and she's got a death grip + death bite on the closest pillow, using it to muffle the ragged screams of pain. her voice is already starting to go from it, and there's a bit of singed feather and some scraps of charred fabric on the floor by the bed -- all that's left of two other pillows that she killed during prior pain spikes. it hurts, in places she- he- isn't even supposed to have, and it hurts worse than any wound she's ever had before, any physical sensation she's ever experienced. she keeps trying to remind herself of what the reward at the end is, but it's hard to keep that in mind when she just wants the pain to stop.]

[he really, really wants to comfort her with this but dear god he does not want to be set on fire, so he's fretting behind her and wishing he could do something more than that.]

[Riku can't sit down anymore, but she's not pacing or hovering or anything. She's trying to stay relaxed and keep to the wall nearby, within range of getting to Axel if she needs to, and out of Kai's way. But she's a lot more concerned- a lot more worried than she's letting on, which would be visible in her expression to Kai and Axel, if they were to focus on her.]

[he feels incredibly bad about the pain, but the only thing he can think of to do is to dip a small towel in a bowel of cold water he'd fetched, wringing it out to press against Axel's forehead and wipe away some of that sweat]

[hisses and shudders at the touch of the wet cloth, but doesn't protest beyond that, because it DOES feel good. Hachibi isn't even complaining because he's buried himself so deep down to escape the pain running rampant through Axel's body. she turns her face further against the pillow after a second, though, to stifle another cry of pain.]

[rubs Axel's shoulder apologetically and heads over to Riku for a moment, because he saw that concern, yeah. and wants to know if it's anything more than just aaaaaa baby stuff.]

[Riku glances at him with a very brief half-smile. She's not trying to hide the concern, because you don't screw around with things like that when it comes to pregnancy.]

[he has more pillows ready for Axel should she need them, having decided to get more after seeing what happened to the first one.]

I-it'll be okay, Axel. Right, Kai? Riku?

[growls something negative into the pillow, curling up more, and then uncurling right away. babby kinda wants to come out, but Axel's not feeling any significant urges to push yet. ;o; ]

Of course it'll be okay.

[if he could take some of your pain, bb, he would.]

[Riku frowns. Either the worry is making her incredibly stupid or incredibly brave, because after a glance at Kai she makes her way over to Axel. She's trying to keep her voice low and gentle, but strong enough that she might pay attention to what she has to say. She's serious.]

[Riku's looking up from where he's kneeling by the bed, staying quit. This other Riku looks worried, and that can't be good, right?]

[why do you guys think I incinerated pillows. :| I'm not going to set any of YOU on fire, jeez. give me a little credit, will you? attempts to unclench everything and lifts her sweaty face from the pillow, which has a hole in it where she was biting. she's not even going to attempt speaking unless she has to, but the questioning look should be enough for Riku.]

[he's staying quiet as well, though he sends the younger ku a reassuring smile. we're all worried, but that's normal for this, most likely. hopefully.]

[She smiles, briefly again, more reassuring than anything else because of what she's about to say. And hey, you can't blame her about the fire thing. Red might or might not have been a part of the blazing bed during Aden's birth.]

If you'll let me, I want to check how dilated you are.

[he may have glanced over some of the pictures in that book, but that word is a little over his head and it probably shows. Kai's smiling though, so it can't be all that bad, right?]

[it uh. goes over Axel's head a tiny bit too, but it's not too hard to figure out that baby coming + Riku wanting to check something + the word "dilated" = Riku putting her hand somewhere uncomfortable. but if it'll help the baby come faster. ._.]

Y-yeah, okay. I guess I n-need to try and relax, huh.

[--grits her teeth for another wave of pain. move it or lose it when it's over, Riku.]

[oh my god my best friend/sister is going to stick her hand up my husband's vagina. what is this even.]

Mm. Try to focus on relaxing your face and not tightening it up.

[Instead of lower areas that are less likely to go along with this 'relaxing' so willingly and will probably just leave you frustrated. Focus focus focus. Kai and the younger Riku are getting glances as she moves to put on one of those latex gloves.]

[when Riku sees her going for one those he's going to swiftly turn to face the opposite direction, though for other reasons than what the other Riku or even Kai might realize. his eyes are a little wider than usual, and he's focusing right on Axel's face and trying not to remember Xigbar's version of an examination. is that what's going to happen to Axel?]

[ohgod I'm going to die. reaches out and grabs Kai's sleeve, pulling him closer so she can wrap her arms around his waist and press her face against his hip, taking a deep breath to try and relax. you have to help me, husbandu. ;o; ]

[he will do the best he can, letting his Light wash over her to hopefully help her relax as he runs his fingers through her hair.]

[Stop that, you are not dying. Once she's got the glove on, Riku's moving back over and move the sheets around. She's just straightening it out, folding it up once or twice; it won't go past Axel's knees, don't worry. She can feel her way up. ...though she's kind of hesitating now, of course.]
