how is babby formed

[this pregnant female Axel is reclining on a couch in the common area closest to the family hall, dozing a little with an arm draped over the bulge of her stomach. she jerks awake, though, when there's a sudden spasm that kind of hurts. she's dozed off again, fifteen minutes later, when it happens again, and she sits up a little, looking alarmed.]

[he can't help but stand up a little straighter at the praise, then he's cautiously wandering closer to where Axel is]

[flops back against the pillows as soon as it's over, staring grumpily at the ceiling for a moment before her expression relaxes.]

[looks over to Girlyku; ]

So on a scale of one to ten, if what I'm having now is about a four, how much worse is it going to get?

[he will just be quietly fussing over Axel here.]

[Riku smiles, very gently and full of sympathy, and holds her hands up in front of her with all her fingers spread apart. That would be a ten.]

Anywhere from eight to ten? It's not the same for everyone. By the time it was almost over for me, I was pretty ready to call it quits.

[Not that that would have been possible, but she would have tried!]

[he looks a little worried about that, not quite realizing who it is he's talking about]

Axel isn't going to blow up the room, is he? I heard someone nearly burned a whole hallway down giving birth.

[drops her head back with a groan of dismay. good thing she doesn't know that painkillers for this sort of thing exist somewhere, or she'd be even more distressed by this news. she looks back up when Slaveku speaks, though, and slowly shifts her gaze to Girlyku.]

[he will attempt to remain silent, coughing to hide his choked laughter.]

[... She crosses her arms in that "why is everyone looking at me?" way.]

[because they are? he's still a little worried, but the reactions of everyone else to his question has him curious]

[looks painfully smug.]

As soon as Aden's old enough to understand, I'm so telling him his mom nearly burned the whole dressing room down while she was having him.

[that would've sounded more scolding if he wasn't chuckling.]

[Oh psh, she rolls her eyes, shifting her weight to one side.]

If my bed made up the whole dressing room, you'd have more interesting stories to tell him.

[he feels as though he's put his foot in his mouth, unsure what to do in this situation when it looks like both Axel and Kai are amused.]

That... is damn true. Much more interesting.

[leers at Girlyku for a moment before another contraction hits, making her groan a little more loudly than before, because the level of pain is continuing to creep up with each successive contraction.]

The floor would be much comfier, if your bed was the dressing room.

[what is completely missing the point on purpose, then goes back to paying attention to Axel, smoothing her hair back with a worried frown.]

[The way she smile at Riku suggests that she is quite proud of this! And don't leer at her, Axel. Least of all when you're in labor.]

[he's relaxing at that, or as much as he can when Axel is in pain. older or no, he doesn't like seeing that at all.]

Is there anything we can give her for the pain?

[okay fuck, there's another one, about thirty seconds later. and I WILL LEER IF I WANT TO. B|]

O-ow, fuck. I thought my pain tolerance was higher than this. Wish I could do that trick Red has.

Pretty sure pain tolerance goes out the window when it comes to this kind of thing, love.

[Wow, they're coming pretty fast. She shakes her head in response to Riku's question, but she's focused on Axel. If there was anything around here to help, she wouldn't know where to find it, or how to use it.]

[he looks pretty disappointed with that answer, and isn't sure what else to offer Axel to help other than to stay out of the way and wait to see if they suddenly need something as the hours pass]

*crushes people everywhere with text walls*

[so it's been a couple more hours, maybe as many as three, and THERE IS SOME PAIN UP IN HERE. Axel's curled up on her side on the bed, hair plastered to her face and neck with sweat, and she's got a death grip + death bite on the closest pillow, using it to muffle the ragged screams of pain. her voice is already starting to go from it, and there's a bit of singed feather and some scraps of charred fabric on the floor by the bed -- all that's left of two other pillows that she killed during prior pain spikes. it hurts, in places she- he- isn't even supposed to have, and it hurts worse than any wound she's ever had before, any physical sensation she's ever experienced. she keeps trying to remind herself of what the reward at the end is, but it's hard to keep that in mind when she just wants the pain to stop.]

[he really, really wants to comfort her with this but dear god he does not want to be set on fire, so he's fretting behind her and wishing he could do something more than that.]

[Riku can't sit down anymore, but she's not pacing or hovering or anything. She's trying to stay relaxed and keep to the wall nearby, within range of getting to Axel if she needs to, and out of Kai's way. But she's a lot more concerned- a lot more worried than she's letting on, which would be visible in her expression to Kai and Axel, if they were to focus on her.]

[he feels incredibly bad about the pain, but the only thing he can think of to do is to dip a small towel in a bowel of cold water he'd fetched, wringing it out to press against Axel's forehead and wipe away some of that sweat]
