[If it looks like Riku's hesitating, it's because she's trying to figure out how to word this. She glances at Kai, then back to Axel, and half-smiles.]

Yeah, it gets worse. The contractions start coming faster and staying longer. But Kai's right. You'll be fine. And I wouldn't recommend going under the bed, but do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

[She shrugs.]

I walked and set the bed on fire.

[snorts a little and smooches Kai's hand. also why is everyone assuming there will be hand crushing. I would think there would be movies or TV shows about it if it happened as much as you make it sound like.]

I don't feel like doing much of anything right now, but I'll probably get up and move around later. That's how I usually end up dealing with pain, if I'm allowed--

[cue another contraction, which makes her grimace and squeeze Kai's hand (though not enough to break anything, gosh).]

[mostly because you're stronger than average? also Ri did not help the situation with his talking about being prepared for that because Sora broke his arm during labor. but he's squeezing back, looking concerned.]

[Man, pregnant women are powerful forces. (But she didn't break Red's hand! And the burns healed quickly...) Riku pauses again to think, eying the two of them together for a moment and letting Axel deal with the contraction in silence. But she nods, understanding.]

Just keep that in mind. You and the baby are the ones running the show here, and you'll know when it's ready.

[nods and lets out a slow, shaky breath.]

'f you say so. The whole process seems weird and overly painful to me.

Humans are built stupidly when it comes to birth.

[leans down to smooch her head.]

[She's agreeing with both of them, if you had any doubt.

[cut to uhhhhhh two hours later. that seems like a nice number. Axel's moved on from the initial anxiety to dozing between contractions to wishing there was a TV or something in here, even though her attention span's shot all to hell right now. she's currently pacing by one wall, cornerpivotwalkcornerpivotrepeat, periodically doubling over in pain as a contraction hits her. they're coming harder and more frequently, about five minutes apart, lasting upwards of twenty to thirty seconds.

so what are YOU two doing? :D]

[probably went to get tea at some point, to help himself keep from freaking out or something, but the pot is most likely empty by now. he... is probably trying to distract himself with drawing, though failing horribly, and if Riku has asked him to do/get anything, he totally has.]

[Water, towels, maybe some gloves if they really want her to stick around. Riku is playing the part of the calm one for both of their sakes, and has probably fetched a book on birth to help out, and clipped her hair back, and repeatedly washed her hands. Maybe popped out for a while to talk to Red, but she's staying close by as much as she can in case either of them need her for... anything, really.

The book is only getting half of her attention, though. Sorry, Axel. That 'you're being watched' feeling isn't going to disappear any time soon. In fact, it's going to get worse.]

[there is a Riku, and he's sticking his head in the room cautiously. he forgets what was on his mind entirely when he sees Axel, and freezes when he sees an older, female Riku along with the Kai he was looking for.]

[well then. the feeling of being watched has her on edge already, and having someone else come in the room just adds to it, and she freezes for a second as well before hastily backing into the bathroom and closing the door behind her.]

[sighs and sinks in his chair, tossing his sketchbook aside before sending the younger Riku a small smile. he'll give Axel some alone time, at least for a few minutes. >>;]

What's up?

[She glances up when the younger Riku pops in, but then immediately turns back to- the bathroom door closing. Seeing as she did the same thing (for a slightly different reason, still) she turns back to her book.]

[he can pick up on the atmosphere in the room, making him lower his voice somewhat]

Did I come at a bad time?

[knows perfectly well that someone will be coming in to check on her within a few moments, but that's fine. she'll just catch her breath and bask in the quiet and try to get her mind to settle down. oh, and wedge herself into the corner between the toilet and the wall, sitting with her legs drawn up to either side, just in time for another contraction that makes her grit her teeth to stifle a groan of pain. none of you out there heard that, so just leave me alone for a few minutes. B| ]

Ah... a little bit. Axel's going to be giving birth sometime very soon. But I think we've got a bit of time, if you needed something?

[he figures Axel will- do you really think he didn't hear that he has super hearing right now- tell them if it gets too bad, sooo...]

[Riku's free to talk. This one's keeping to herself for now, eyes on the book as she listens for Axel.]

[he's glancing at Riku a moment, then the bathroom before blurting out:]

What do you know about Marluxia?

[...that's almost enough to make her want to come out of the bathroom. almost. instead she'll mentally squabble with Hachibi about the rest of this process and if there's anything he's hiding from her. ~~Kai could come in any time. >.>~~]

[he tenses, shoulders hunching up a bit at that name.]

...I don't think I have the time to explain about him right now, there's too much to say. But he is exactly the type of person you want to avoid, Riku. He's too much like the people back in your world.

[he's... he's going to go see Axel now, yeah. sorry Riku, he'll apologize for being so short about it later.]

[Riku opens her mouth to say something, then shuts it. If Axel wants to be alone, she'll definitely tell Kai. So she... looks back at the other Riku, not-quite-curiously.]

[he looks somewhat anxious, though it isn't as much about what Kai just said about Marluxia as one would think. he has after all, already met the one in question.]

Is Axel going to be okay?

[looks over when the door opens, unconsciously pressing herself further back into the corner (not that it does anything, since she's wedged as far in as she can be already), and abruptly feeling silly for having gone there in the first place. she doesn't say anything, though, which is a sure sign that she's anxious and stressed out.]

[kneels down in front of her, looking quite concerned.]
