[this pregnant female Axel is reclining on a couch in the common area closest to the family hall, dozing a little with an arm draped over the bulge of her stomach. she jerks awake, though, when there's a sudden spasm that kind of hurts. she's dozed off again, fifteen minutes later, when it happens again, and she sits up a little, looking alarmed.]

[settles onto the bed, twisting a little to grab more pillows to shove behind her. she wasn't kidding about the squatting being comfortable.]

The contractions are coming faster, so no, not really okay at all. I thought this was supposed to take hours and hours or something.

Depends on the person, I think. Do you need some more pillows?

[because Riku could get them if he wants to feel helpful, but.]

Kai's right. There's no set time for it.

[She crosses her arms, leaning back in her seat.]

[good, he's just in time leaving to miss Axel having another contraction that's more painful than the previous ones. when she's through groaning and grimacing; ]

OW, motherfucker, that was like. Someone trying to pull my stomach out through my ass. Only more frontwards.

If you ever want more kids, I'll carry or something.

[No, Riku, we are not going to let our amusement at Axel's statement show, no matter how accurate it is. But she's standing up now, doing a check on supplies.]

[ahh, the violence is starting, since Axel smacks him for that, though she's leaning against him at the same time.]

Yeah, really, although the idea of you looking like this is pretty damn funny. Let's just stick with the one that's trying to come out for now.

[snorts, grinning just a little. why the violence, woman.]

I think I threatened Red about that when I was at this stage.

[It possibly involved requesting scissors from doctorku. But anyway. There's... not really anything else she can do right now, so she's leaning against the wall and checking her watch to see how long it's been.]

[he's finally returning, with no less than five pillows taken from the beds in a few rooms, glancing from Axel to Kai, then to Riku.]

Is this enough?

[aaaaaaa pillowku ilu. would say something along those lines, but she's busy having another contraction and trying to breathe through it.]

That's perfect, Riku.

[smiles gratefully, and takes the pillows to arrange around/under Axel.]

[They seem to have everything under control, Axel's not screaming yet, and it looks like they've still got a bit of time to go. Riku rubs at her arm idly, moving to sit down again.]

[he can't help but stand up a little straighter at the praise, then he's cautiously wandering closer to where Axel is]

Is there anything else I can do?

[flops back against the pillows as soon as it's over, staring grumpily at the ceiling for a moment before her expression relaxes.]

I think we're good for now, but thanks, Riku.

[looks over to Girlyku; ]

So on a scale of one to ten, if what I'm having now is about a four, how much worse is it going to get?

[he will just be quietly fussing over Axel here.]

[Riku smiles, very gently and full of sympathy, and holds her hands up in front of her with all her fingers spread apart. That would be a ten.]

Anywhere from eight to ten? It's not the same for everyone. By the time it was almost over for me, I was pretty ready to call it quits.

[Not that that would have been possible, but she would have tried!]

[he looks a little worried about that, not quite realizing who it is he's talking about]

Axel isn't going to blow up the room, is he? I heard someone nearly burned a whole hallway down giving birth.

[drops her head back with a groan of dismay. good thing she doesn't know that painkillers for this sort of thing exist somewhere, or she'd be even more distressed by this news. she looks back up when Slaveku speaks, though, and slowly shifts her gaze to Girlyku.]

[he will attempt to remain silent, coughing to hide his choked laughter.]

[... She crosses her arms in that "why is everyone looking at me?" way.]

[because they are? he's still a little worried, but the reactions of everyone else to his question has him curious]

As soon as Aden's old enough to understand, I'm so telling him his mom nearly burned the whole dressing room down while she was having him.
