[ Oh shit, it's Larx. Or actually, it isn't. Not the one most people are familiar with. It's his much older, future self, hanging out on the roof of the elevator in the apartments, where he can't be seen or sensed until it's too late. He's just waiting for random passerby to harass, maybe kill, maybe gut and hang from their own intestines down the fronts of buildings... It's been a long time since he's had any fun around here, between how dull this current timeline is and the people in it. He's looking for some good fun or some good bait. But he's not picky, and he's terribly patient. ]

[He makes a ridiculous face at Inaya, then goes back to grinning.]

Shame. Sounds like it'd be fun if I wouldn't be dead before it got to the good parts.

At least the Apricot I'm used to isn't much bigger than this one. Hrrrgh, I missed you, fatty bun.

[she says, as Apricot oozes back over to her. brb snorfling his tummy again. she'd add that she's really missed her parents, too, but these aren't quite her parents, so she'd feel awkward. :< ]

[he rolls his eyes at Aden's comment.]

I'm sure all your devoured-by-a-rabbit dreams will come true some day.

A reptile would be more fun.

[He tilts his head, but only because he's trying to figure out what's going on next door. Sound, scent, whatever. He wants to know.]

You would think so. Maybe I'll see if I can find a dinosaur or monster snake or a man-eating chocobo for your birthday.

[too bad, Aden. Axel will be back in the next round of tags. :U]

[he smiles a little.]

It's good to see you two grow up to be such good friends.

Something like that. More like I'm at her constant mercy.

[He pauses, then looks at Inaya.]

Then again, Kira's scarier than you. And I'm pretty sure chocobos are already man-eating.

Yep! I don't know how we could not be good friends, I'm the only one who puts up with his gross stuff. But yeah, Kira's way scarier than me.

[she dresses baby Aden up in pink stuff, you know. speaking of babies, Axel's back from explaining what the situation was to Riku, telling her that no she can't come sneak a look at teenaged Aden but that he IS quite handsome and creepy, and getting his screeching daughter back (she was in fact howling over Riku being agitated). hope you guys don't mind some baby up in this joint. Inaya, at least, looks quite interested in her baby self.]

Unsurprising, given her parents.

[or rather, given Ri and all. he looks to Axel and dips his head in a 'welcome back'.]

[Baby Aden probably vomits slime and/or blood onto the pink outfits, jsyk. As for older Aden, he glances at Axel and baby-Inaya when they return, looking not the slightest bit worried. Of course, considering the people he's in the room with, it's probably way fucking obvious to them. Damn superhuman senses. But eww, babies.]

Speaking of gross stuff.

[Axel shakes his head and moves to sit on the end of the bed. Inaya looks indignant as she scoots closer to peer over Axel's shoulder, in spite of her aches and pains.]

Hey, that's basically me you're talking about. It's been a while since I saw any of my baby pictures, I'd almost forgotten how adorable I was.

[baby!Inaya is looking at these unfamiliar faces in the room and seems to completely accept her other self, whether it's because of the same chakra patterns or energy or whatever. Aden, however, is getting pointed at, and shrieked at. fuck words, animal noises are better. \o/]

To be fair, babies can be pretty disgusting sometimes.

[but he says that so nicely, and is shooting baby!Inaya an affectionate look anyway.]

[That was aimed at the older Inaya (thank you, Uncle Kai), but his eyes are on the tiny one thanks to that shriek. You want animal noises? He makes some cricket noises back at her.]

[older Inaya sticks her tongue out at Aden, and but the baby one stares at him wide-eyed. she's eaten things out in the yard that made that noise, but she's never heard a person do that. 8O Axel waits a beat, and then:]

By the way, Aden, your mom says hi.

[he's going to move so he can punch Axel in the arm.]

Don't be so cruel.

[He'd just sucked in a breath to make some bat noises at the baby, but cuts off abruptly, something cracking in his expression. He's quiet, then his face smooths out into indifference.]

That's nice.

[he actually looks quite repentant now, smiling sympathetically.]

I'm sorry. She was pretty damn interested in what was going on over here, including the fact that you were here, but I told her she couldn't come over.

[Inaya's watching Aden with a sad and kind of worried expression, and attaches to Axel to rest her chin on his shoulder and wrap her arms around him. as a very family-oriented person, she honestly can't get why Aden wouldn't want to see his parents even if they weren't from the same timeline, if they were okay with it.]

[he's going to stand back up, looking to Aden sympathetically.]

Could we talk? Not outside, but not in this room, either.

[no offense, Axel and Inaya.]

[Fuck, he saw that coming a mile away.]

Why not?

[The "do I have a choice" goes unspoken, and he reaches into the inside of his coat to pull out a couple colorful moths to flutter over and keep baby-Inaya entertained. Possibly the older one, too. Lead the way, uncle.]

[once they're out of the room, Axel sighs and tilts his head to rest it against Inaya's, watching the moths. the baby's fascinated, and already knows to be very gentle with things like that, because of her uncle Red.]

[he leads to... basically across the house. he knows Axel's hearing is good, and Inaya's probably is, too, but he doesn't want to make Aden go outside just for some privacy. once they've stopped, he's going to put a hand gently on Aden's shoulder, expression soft.]

I'm sorry you've been found out, Aden. I should have just told you to come by while they were out.

[He shrugs like it's no big deal, hands in his pockets.]

Doesn't matter. Hell, I'm surprised I went unnoticed this long.

You can pretend it's nothing all you want, but I wouldn't have kept your being here from them this long if I thought you didn't actually care all that much.

[He rolls his eyes.]

You could at least play along with me. It's not like it'll change anything. I didn't want them to know I was here because I didn't want them raising little me differently. ...Not like, because they didn't like how I turned out or whatever, but because they might think they have to do certain things to make me like this.

Mm, that's not the only reason, though, is it.

[y'know what, boy, you are getting a (very brief!) one-armed hug.]
