[ Oh shit, it's Larx. Or actually, it isn't. Not the one most people are familiar with. It's his much older, future self, hanging out on the roof of the elevator in the apartments, where he can't be seen or sensed until it's too late. He's just waiting for random passerby to harass, maybe kill, maybe gut and hang from their own intestines down the fronts of buildings... It's been a long time since he's had any fun around here, between how dull this current timeline is and the people in it. He's looking for some good fun or some good bait. But he's not picky, and he's terribly patient. ]

Good point. This might be the last time I see her for a while, between kidnapping and possible death by parental wrath. If I don't come back, check the freezer?

It'll be the first place I look.

[headpat. don't worry, Aden, your Uncle Kai knows all the best places to check for a body!]

[He flashes Kai a grin, then starts heading back to where the others are, assuming he has nothing else to say.]

[nope, nothing else! he'll just follow Aden.]

[have you ever seen a giant bunny being held up on its hind legs by its front paws, and being danced in place? that is what is happening here. Apricot seems to be dozing through it. Axel's flopped back on the bed with baby!Inaya sitting on his stomach trying to get the moths to stay on her daddy's face.]

[...probably, considering who the bunny and the puppeteer are. He raises an eyebrow, and does a silent count of the moths. He hopes the baby didn't try to eat any, they're bitter as shit.]

Well, I'm off to face the music.

[patpat. he says standing so he can go with Aden to the front door, because it would be RUDE to just let him go without seeing him out!!]

[nah, she knows not to eat bugs, even if she sees baby Aden eat them first. older Inaya stops dancing Apricot around and looks sympathetic.]

Come back later and see me, okay? And tell them I'm looking forward to seeing them when I'm feeling a little better.

Will do. But I can't make any promises on coming back. Not without like, a ball and chain anyway.

[He's grinning as he says this, though by no means is he joking. He figures he'll be lucky if he gets out of their house within days.]

[he'll personally carry Inaya over for a visit if Aden doesn't return tomorrow to check up on her, don't worry!!!]

[OKAY SO, timeskip to some point during the next day, maybe during the evening because New Year's Eve and Aden would possibly be wanted for the actual midnight thing by his parents. Inaya probably had some ferocious nightmares during the night, and has been reluctant to sleep since then. she'll be curled up in bed with a book and a giant bunny whenever Aden comes in (having most likely been given that LOOK by Kai, the one that means "I trust you, but I'm also keeping an eye on you and you should feel lucky that I'm not chaperoning you upstairs").]

[As if Aden would be stupid enough to do anything with Inaya even if they were dating or whatever. She is the last person he would do that with, with her parents around. Hell, he's probably not even here alone. Riku probably came over too, purely to ~~yell some more~~ talk to Kai and Axel. Regardless, he comes knocking (whether the door is open or not), leeeeaning against the door to her room.]

Hey.

[she jerks her head up when he knocks, startled, but then she looks unspeakably happy to see him. this means she can't keep dwelling on all the things Larxene said to her, and how much her head still hurts from all the abuse yesterday. she probably looks a little tired, and a little puffy-eyed from more crying.]

Hey. Good to see you're still in one piece.

I wouldn't say that. I'm still waiting for a new ass to grow in to replace the one I had chewed out.

[He's grinning when he says that though, and slips inside to make his way over, not even bothering to hide the fact that he's checking her out. To see how she's healing, that is.]

[besides what's already been mentioned, the one ear looks alright, just a mostly-healed wound left from the damage to it yesterday. both ears are still looking a little naked, though, and will for another week or so until the fuzz comes back in.]

I'll bet. Is that her downstairs doing the same thing to my parents?

Yeeeah, she's not happy about the whole secret business. She understands, but she's still not happy...

[And he understands why. Riku's damn possessive of her friends and family, and always has been. Her son being kept hidden from her? Psh. But talking like that is almost making Aden look... sad, which is a rare occurrence for him, so he's changing the subject.]

How're you feeling?

A lot better. Dad did a really good job, as usual, and he said it probably won't even scar. Mostly I'm just kind of weak still, but there shouldn't be any lasting damage.

[but she still looks unhappy, around the genuine happiness at seeing Aden, and the forced optimism. (it's all true, but it's hard to feel optimistic about things right now.)]

Lucky you. You know Larxene and his scars.

[He likes leaving marks, and their parents know that well. Aden's heard plenty of stories. He's going to take a seat... if there's a chair, and if not he'll be sitting on the end corner of her bed!]

[there's probably a chair by now! since he's staying for a bit, she closes her book and sets it aside.]

Yeah... I wouldn't really mind if it did, anyway, it was just a wound, not something deliberate like Uncle Riku's, or like the ones Dad had from Larxene for a while, a long time ago.

[this is a big fat lie; feel free to call her on it.]

[He watches her calmly, then slowly leans closer. Not much. Not enough that it should unnerve her or anything, but so he can get a good look at her. Don't worry, he is.]

Liar.

[she flinches a little and looks away, burying the fingers of one hand in Apricot's fur. she doesn't really know what to say to that; "you're right, I'm lying to myself because otherwise I'm going to get super depressed and self-conscious and unhappy"? she's already feeling that way, but it's worse when she lets herself think about it.]

[He drops one of his elbows on his knees, hunched over with his chin resting in his hand as he watches her. This is where she should be talking, it's a good opportunity and he knows she needs to, but he's not going to push her for it or even encourage it.]

You need some chocolate.

[she looks at him, and then sighs and slumps after a moment. she WILL talk, just give her a little time.]

Yeah, I do. All the candy you brought is still in the bag, over there.

[He gets up immediately to haul up the bag and start dumping candy out.]

I can go through the usual spiel about the benefits of chocolate on the brain, you know.

You don't have to tell me about chocolate, jeez.

[she sits up more so she can reach, wincing a tiny bit. her muscles are still sore from the repeated shocking they got yesterday.]
