[ Oh shit, it's Larx. Or actually, it isn't. Not the one most people are familiar with. It's his much older, future self, hanging out on the roof of the elevator in the apartments, where he can't be seen or sensed until it's too late. He's just waiting for random passerby to harass, maybe kill, maybe gut and hang from their own intestines down the fronts of buildings... It's been a long time since he's had any fun around here, between how dull this current timeline is and the people in it. He's looking for some good fun or some good bait. But he's not picky, and he's terribly patient. ]

[Oh, he could tell how scared she was, before and after she was rescued. He shrugs a little. As for the screaming, it's been echoing in his head since then.]

Yeah, I know. Good thing I knew where they lived. I wasn't exactly looking forward to dying yesterday.

[yeah, hers too. and she hasn't forgotten about his eyes yesterday, but she's waiting for a better moment to ask about them.]

Who ever looks forward to dying? And how did you know where the house was? I bet it's just from you trying so hard to avoid your parents.

[He stares at her blankly, then smirks.]

You caught me. Sometimes I'd sit on the roof of the apartment building and watch 'em. Wasn't hard to figure out which house was theirs after that.

That's pretty creepy, so I guess it's believable. You sure you didn't do some kind of spider thing and hang upside down out of a tree to spy on them?

[Actually, he's completely serious.]

Hell no. I never got that close knowing mom could sense me out. I actually did try to keep myself a secret, y'know.

That's because you're weird. I knew both our parents were here, but I wasn't trying to avoid them or anything. I just figured it would be kind of strange for them to know I was here.

[hmmm when to ask him about the eye thing...]

[No matter when she asks he's going to get tripped up. He raises an eyebrow at her.]

Maybe that's why I was avoiding mine.

You're still weird. Speaking of which, what was up with your eyes yesterday? The only other time I've seen them like that was during that one spell.

[He goes quiet abruptly, noticeably taken by surprise by that question. He was not on guard for that one. But the way he brushes it off is smooth.]

It happens sometimes.

Yeah, that's what you said then, that it happens on Halloween, and "some other times", if I'm remembering right. What're the other times?

[she's not trying to badger him into answering or make him uncomfortable, she's just curious, and it's evident in her expression. she looks a little worried, too, because she IS legitimately concerned that it's some serious thing that he was trying to keep secret and doesn't want her to know about. /uh]

[Aden looks like he's not sure how to answer it, or if he even wants to. In all honesty he probably doesn't, but he's going to anyway, because it's not an easy question to get out of without making the situation worse, and really, Inaya's his friend. She's entitled to an answer. Some answer.]

...think about where my dad comes from for a minute, okay? You know I can tell when people are afraid.

[she's very quiet for a minute, thinking back to the couple of times she's probably seen Red with eyes like that, and then the couple of times she's seen Aden like that. the first time with Aden will be her biggest clue, because no one was afraid there (to begin with). and fear shouldn't be a reason to avoid people, anyway, unless you're just weirded out that you have a physical reaction to someone else's fear at all.... oh. oh. she's slowly turning pink.]

[That's totally not a fair assumption. Red's eyes glow way more than Aden's ever does. But he's waiting patiently for a response, and it's slowly dawning on him that she's not saying anything. At all. That's a little alarming, and she should see the way his eyes slowly widen when she turns pink. What the fuck conclusion is she coming to, and how?]

...Inaya?

Um. So about all I can figure is that they glow when someone's afraid around you, which would make sense considering where your dad's from, but also that they glow when um... when you're turned on.

[she's still pink, and not looking anywhere near him now. it's just so weird to say, and also she likes him and has lately been actually thinking about him in that way and yeah. .\\\\\. ]

[He's really, unnervingly quiet. The kind of quiet where he's practically a statue, or maybe something undead. He kind of looks ready to leave and take off running, but he doesn't look mad. Just really caught off guard, and really... fuck, he didn't want her to find out about this today. Plus he's never talked seriously with any of his cousins about... sex or arousal or anything. Not seriously. Teasing, joking, sure. But he knows he's messed up.]

...if it makes you feel any better, I've got something kind of like that that you probably don't know about. I've hoped you didn't know about it, anyway, but I guess now's as good a time as any to tell you about it.

[yeah, it's not really something I can see any of them talking about. she doesn't want him to feel weird around her because of this, though, which is why she's going to tell him her secret, so at least they can both be embarrassed.]

[He stares at her almost distrustfully. Not that he thinks she's lying or something, but because Aden doubts she really understands what she's talking about. She doesn't understand just how fucked up he is.]

[she glances at him, still pink across her nose, and brushes some hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear.]

It's... my ears. You know how I react normally, but... sometimes it feels good in a different way. Especially um. When you do it.

[she makes herself look at him properly, rushing to keep speaking so he can know she really does get it.]

I don't think yours is weird, you know, it just explains a lot. But neither of us is that normal, so you really... really shouldn't let it bother you that I know.

[Why is it better when he does it? Is it because he messes with her ears so much more than everyone else? That has to be it. It's his turn not to look at her, though, a very, very faint blush on his own face. It just makes him look a little more human, but it probably also reveals what he's thinking. Or not. It could be that he's, you know, thinking about Inaya being turned on, which is surely enough to get him flustered, or it could be that he's thinking that, yes, he did know that about her. Either one would be true. He didn't know for sure how good it was, but he thought if done right it could have that potential. At that last part Aden reaches behind him to rub the back of his neck, looking doubtful about what she's saying.]

What's gross about it? If either of us is going to be super embarrassed it should be me, I'm the one who's been getting warm fuzzy feelings from having my ears touched. Yours doesn't happen all that often.

[this is okay, she's getting a little bolder about this conversation now! it's not so bad now that they're into it, right?]

Okay, let me rewind back to the fact that I couldn't come near you after Larxene had his fun yesterday unless I wanted to get turned on and get high out of my mind. How's that?

That's unfortunate, but it doesn't make you a bad person. It's not like that's going to be a regular thing that you'll have to avoid, right?

[He leans back on his hands, then looks startled.]

It's not as bad then. It's not like I'm going for that when I watch horror movies with you guys. I'm not that much of a creep. Just... whenever someone's really afraid. Fuck, you know how far away I was yesterday, and it was still bad.

[Hence the glowing eyes.]

So it's nothing to worry about. Yesterday was terrible for both of us, for different reasons, and hopefully it won't happen again.

[she pauses, looking at the blanket over her legs, and then looks up at him again a little shyly. or maybe mischievously. it's hard to tell.]

I'm still curious about what it is that you think you could do that would scare me, you know. From that time right before Christmas.
