[ Oh shit, it's Larx. Or actually, it isn't. Not the one most people are familiar with. It's his much older, future self, hanging out on the roof of the elevator in the apartments, where he can't be seen or sensed until it's too late. He's just waiting for random passerby to harass, maybe kill, maybe gut and hang from their own intestines down the fronts of buildings... It's been a long time since he's had any fun around here, between how dull this current timeline is and the people in it. He's looking for some good fun or some good bait. But he's not picky, and he's terribly patient. ]

[he's going to move so he can punch Axel in the arm.]

Don't be so cruel.

[He'd just sucked in a breath to make some bat noises at the baby, but cuts off abruptly, something cracking in his expression. He's quiet, then his face smooths out into indifference.]

That's nice.

[he actually looks quite repentant now, smiling sympathetically.]

I'm sorry. She was pretty damn interested in what was going on over here, including the fact that you were here, but I told her she couldn't come over.

[Inaya's watching Aden with a sad and kind of worried expression, and attaches to Axel to rest her chin on his shoulder and wrap her arms around him. as a very family-oriented person, she honestly can't get why Aden wouldn't want to see his parents even if they weren't from the same timeline, if they were okay with it.]

[he's going to stand back up, looking to Aden sympathetically.]

Could we talk? Not outside, but not in this room, either.

[no offense, Axel and Inaya.]

[Fuck, he saw that coming a mile away.]

[The "do I have a choice" goes unspoken, and he reaches into the inside of his coat to pull out a couple colorful moths to flutter over and keep baby-Inaya entertained. Possibly the older one, too. Lead the way, uncle.]

[once they're out of the room, Axel sighs and tilts his head to rest it against Inaya's, watching the moths. the baby's fascinated, and already knows to be very gentle with things like that, because of her uncle Red.]

[he leads to... basically across the house. he knows Axel's hearing is good, and Inaya's probably is, too, but he doesn't want to make Aden go outside just for some privacy. once they've stopped, he's going to put a hand gently on Aden's shoulder, expression soft.]

I'm sorry you've been found out, Aden. I should have just told you to come by while they were out.

[He shrugs like it's no big deal, hands in his pockets.]

Doesn't matter. Hell, I'm surprised I went unnoticed this long.

You can pretend it's nothing all you want, but I wouldn't have kept your being here from them this long if I thought you didn't actually care all that much.

[He rolls his eyes.]

You could at least play along with me. It's not like it'll change anything. I didn't want them to know I was here because I didn't want them raising little me differently. ...Not like, because they didn't like how I turned out or whatever, but because they might think they have to do certain things to make me like this.

Mm, that's not the only reason, though, is it.

[y'know what, boy, you are getting a (very brief!) one-armed hug.]

[aaaaa no, he lets him, but he's not looking at him. Damn you hyper-observant uncles.]

Sure it is.

You know you can go talk to them, now. There's no point in running away if they know you're here.

...yeah, I know. Still not sure I want to.

I think you should. They'll both be so proud of you.

[he pauses, then smiles.]

Even if they'll be mad at you, as well as Axel and I, for keeping you a secret for so long.

Oh god, screw that, I'm not marching into the arms of wrath.

[If he wanted to be suicidal he would have jumped on Larx earlier.]

[he is going to ruffle the fuck out of Aden's hair.]

Parents are scary. But you miss them enough to face whatever anger they might throw at you first, don't you.

[askljsdgs he tries to get away from that, because he can't stand his hair being messed with.]

Yeah, yeah, I get it. I'll go.

Whenever you're comfortable with doing so. And be sure to let me know if there's anything I can do, aside from murdering you so you can escape. I'm not going to suffer your mother's wrath with only Axel, sorry to say.

Might as well now. Get it over with so they don't think I hate them or anything. Besides, this'll give you time to spend with Inaya.

[Aden is not quite the oldest in his circle of cousin and friends, but he certainly acts like it sometimes.]

[he seems kind of concerned, mostly because he doesn't want Aden to feel like he has to be alone for this. he can imagine it's a pretty big deal.]

Yeah, I'm sure. Might steal Apricot for a shield though.

[He's kidding.]

Inaya might disagree with you taking him.

[or hey, she might agree wholeheartedly that you need the shield!]

Selfish.

[Tsk. He hesitates, then lowers his voice a little.]
