[ Oh shit, it's Larx. Or actually, it isn't. Not the one most people are familiar with. It's his much older, future self, hanging out on the roof of the elevator in the apartments, where he can't be seen or sensed until it's too late. He's just waiting for random passerby to harass, maybe kill, maybe gut and hang from their own intestines down the fronts of buildings... It's been a long time since he's had any fun around here, between how dull this current timeline is and the people in it. He's looking for some good fun or some good bait. But he's not picky, and he's terribly patient. ]

[she jerks her head up and then just stares at him until that last, and if she wasn't in such a shitty emotional place she'd just agree with him and admit that she was being silly, but everything sucks right now except for Aden and what he's saying. hi, Aden, you now have an armful of teary teenaged girl, who just flung herself into your arms even though it made all of her sore muscles hurt like a bitch.]

[Oh, hi, it's just what he wanted. Minus the teary part. No, he doesn't mind more hugs, even surprise teary hugs, and gently wraps his arms around her.]

[she rubs her cheek against his shirt to mop the escaped tears off her face, and then pulls back a little, hesitates for a second, and then kisses his cheek.]

But really, you are the best, and it's thanks to you that I'm still here and in one piece.

[He doesn't care about having his shirt used as a handkerchief, but the kiss on his cheek makes his eyebrows go up. Then he makes a face.]

Man, it was a close call. You have no idea how much I wanted to jump down there.

Daddy was right, though, if you'd jumped in right away Larxene would've just hurt you too, or taken me somewhere else. I'm really glad you came to get them, even though it meant I got hurt a little.

[so was he around for any of the screaming, and did he get close enough to tell that she was absolutely terrified at the time and is therefore putting on a brave face right now? >.> ]

[Oh, he could tell how scared she was, before and after she was rescued. He shrugs a little. As for the screaming, it's been echoing in his head since then.]

Yeah, I know. Good thing I knew where they lived. I wasn't exactly looking forward to dying yesterday.

[yeah, hers too. and she hasn't forgotten about his eyes yesterday, but she's waiting for a better moment to ask about them.]

Who ever looks forward to dying? And how did you know where the house was? I bet it's just from you trying so hard to avoid your parents.

[He stares at her blankly, then smirks.]

You caught me. Sometimes I'd sit on the roof of the apartment building and watch 'em. Wasn't hard to figure out which house was theirs after that.

That's because you're weird. I knew both our parents were here, but I wasn't trying to avoid them or anything. I just figured it would be kind of strange for them to know I was here.

[No matter when she asks he's going to get tripped up. He raises an eyebrow at her.]

You're still weird. Speaking of which, what was up with your eyes yesterday? The only other time I've seen them like that was during that one spell.

[He goes quiet abruptly, noticeably taken by surprise by that question. He was not on guard for that one. But the way he brushes it off is smooth.]

Yeah, that's what you said then, that it happens on Halloween, and "some other times", if I'm remembering right. What're the other times?

[she's not trying to badger him into answering or make him uncomfortable, she's just curious, and it's evident in her expression. she looks a little worried, too, because she IS legitimately concerned that it's some serious thing that he was trying to keep secret and doesn't want her to know about. /uh]

[Aden looks like he's not sure how to answer it, or if he even wants to. In all honesty he probably doesn't, but he's going to anyway, because it's not an easy question to get out of without making the situation worse, and really, Inaya's his friend. She's entitled to an answer. Some answer.]

[she's very quiet for a minute, thinking back to the couple of times she's probably seen Red with eyes like that, and then the couple of times she's seen Aden like that. the first time with Aden will be her biggest clue, because no one was afraid there (to begin with). and fear shouldn't be a reason to avoid people, anyway, unless you're just weirded out that you have a physical reaction to someone else's fear at all.... oh. oh. she's slowly turning pink.]

[That's totally not a fair assumption. Red's eyes glow way more than Aden's ever does. But he's waiting patiently for a response, and it's slowly dawning on him that she's not saying anything. At all. That's a little alarming, and she should see the way his eyes slowly widen when she turns pink. What the fuck conclusion is she coming to, and how?]

Um. So about all I can figure is that they glow when someone's afraid around you, which would make sense considering where your dad's from, but also that they glow when um... when you're turned on.

[she's still pink, and not looking anywhere near him now. it's just so weird to say, and also she likes him and has lately been actually thinking about him in that way and yeah. .\\\\\. ]

[He's really, unnervingly quiet. The kind of quiet where he's practically a statue, or maybe something undead. He kind of looks ready to leave and take off running, but he doesn't look mad. Just really caught off guard, and really... fuck, he didn't want her to find out about this today. Plus he's never talked seriously with any of his cousins about... sex or arousal or anything. Not seriously. Teasing, joking, sure. But he knows he's messed up.]

... I can't help it.

...if it makes you feel any better, I've got something kind of like that that you probably don't know about. I've hoped you didn't know about it, anyway, but I guess now's as good a time as any to tell you about it.

[yeah, it's not really something I can see any of them talking about. she doesn't want him to feel weird around her because of this, though, which is why she's going to tell him her secret, so at least they can both be embarrassed.]

[He stares at her almost distrustfully. Not that he thinks she's lying or something, but because Aden doubts she really understands what she's talking about. She doesn't understand just how fucked up he is.]

[she glances at him, still pink across her nose, and brushes some hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear.]

It's... my ears. You know how I react normally, but... sometimes it feels good in a different way. Especially um. When you do it.

[she makes herself look at him properly, rushing to keep speaking so he can know she really does get it.]

I don't think yours is weird, you know, it just explains a lot. But neither of us is that normal, so you really... really shouldn't let it bother you that I know.
