[sighs, lifting a hand and pushing his fingers through riku's hair, cupping the back of his skull and leaning forward to lean their foreheads together. it's a brief, affectionate gesture, and then he's gone, but not before reaching for his camera, hesitating, and then swiping a stack of unevenly cut photos and a pair of scissors instead.]

[ it's there and gone so fast, he can scarcely register it. oh, now he's over there ... ]

[ blinks once, twice, deciding it might be better to play in earnest and hope his score hasn't been thrown off too badly, turning red around the nose. ]

[busies himself with trimming the edges off some of the photos. it's boring, but it needs to be done eventually, and at least this way riku can concentrate on winning.]

[ not that it matters a whole lot; his glance keeps flickering back and forth, like it's so hard to maintain his concentration on a single thing. at this point he might as well just be pretending to play, because he's blatantly watching what roxas does and enjoying every second of it. ]

[oblivious, roxas concentrates on the task at hand. he's pretty quick, getting through quite a few pictures in a short amount of time. one one particular photo, though, his hands slows and he tips his head before jerking his wrist and cutting jaggedly, right down the center of it.

oops?]

[ sigh. as if he didn't have enough to worry about already ... ]

You'd lose your head if it weren't attached.

[stacks the two halves and cuts them again, quartering them. he doesn't even look up.]

It was out of focus.

[but wouldn't he have noticed that before trimming three sides of it first?]

[ one would think! steps over, trying to get a good look at the picture in question. ]

[casually - thought not so much, considering what just happened -, he moves the already clipped pile of pictures over the pieces of the other photo, and then picks up another to trim, as if riku isn't there.]

[ nice try, but riku's still trying to peek like the nosy dog that he is. look out below. ]

[there's nothing he can say to stop him without sounding suspicious, not really.]

They're in a certain order...

[maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. there's no order, no rhyme or reason yet, but riku doesn't have to know.]

Huh.

[ doesn't get it, but he's pushing his chin against his shoulder anyway. so much for listening to that unspoken hands off rule. ]

[so long as riku doesn't go for the one he cut up, it's all good. he might even lean back a little.

snip. snip. snip. snip. new picture.]

[ well, his fingertips are idly picking through them, but he hasn't quite come across the culprit yet. some of these do look a little familiar ... ]

[his cutting gets more and more uneven as riku gets closer and closer to the bottom of the pile, eyes focused on riku's hand instead of his own.]

What're you hiding?

[ he sounds more inquisitive than anything, finally making it to the bottom. ... huh. ]

[drops the scissors and slaps his hand down over the pieces, splashes of blond hair, fragments of blue eyes, and half of a wide, toothy smile - only half because the other half is pressed somewhere under his palm - peeking through his fingers.]

It's just a stupid picture that didn't come out right.

[ as usual, riku doesn't understand. ]

Looks fine to me.

W-well, it's not. It doesn't fit in with everything else, anyway.

[because who puts a picture of himself - smiling and bright and happy - in his own scrapbook? as if the whole scrapbooking thing didn't make him gay enough already. (we won't talk about the other things.)]

[ won't even ask about the missing person; it probably wouldn't make him a happy camper, anyhow. ]

[not that he really cares, because he's still leaning back and he's not bothering to hide anything but that one particular photo, covering it with the others riku's already rifled through.]
