[ There's a perfectly ordinary hallway that branches off from one of the main, leading to a downward staircase. If one were to walk down, they would notice how the walls and stairs themselves are decaying, changing as the steps go down from the regular floors and ordinary wood to stone. It leads down, not too far, to a long series of underground tunnels. Mostly man-made, but with natural formations as well. The sound of water running can be heard to the left and loud, scraping footsteps to the right. Which direction would you take? ]

[noooo, boys are not for eating, Nami said so. :{ he watches Aden for a minute, and then moves into his field of view before leaning down to stick his face in the water for a drink.]

[Nami's lame. Aden might have sensed him coming, but he doesn't react until he's in his range of sight, at which point Aden loses his grip and slides down toward death before scrambling to get his grip again.]

[he tenses, drawing back from the water slightly and looking alarmed. Aden seems familiar, but Axel can't really place why, and finally stops trying in favor of moving a little closer to him.]

Are you alright? I hope I did not ssstartle you.

[He's got such a bad grip now that he has to haul himself up and into the hole he was hanging out of. These are bad shoes to be scaling damp cave walls in, Aden!]

No problem. I heard you coming but I wasn't expecting the naga thing.

Mossst people do not, in thiss placsse. What are you doing up there?

Investigating. Never been down here before.

[He grins, though, settling himself more comfortably with his legs hanging out.]

What are you doing down there?

[he coils up, just the tip of his tail in the water, because the water IS quite cold. Aden's getting a curious headtilt before Axel realizes that it was a playful mimicry of his own question. o u humans.]

I am not very good at climbing, essspecially if there iss nothing to wrap around. There iss a bit too mucssh of me for getting off the ground, anyway.

I guess that would be hard. Can't say I've ever seen one of your kind climb like that, either. But I've had plenty of snakes fall out of trees onto my head.

[A lot of times they ended up dinner.]

I do not do it very often. Have you ssseen many naga in your life?

[actually, uncoils to move closer to Aden, to get a better scent from him in the hopes of placing why he's so familiar.]

More than most, I guess. See, I was born in the dressing room, at some point in this time's future. I've lived here my whole life.

[He shrugs.]

Naga have always been a constant, I guess.

Oh. I have not ssseen another in my time here. I do think I have ssseen a mucssh younger versssion of you, though.

[now he's figured it out. :D]

Ohhh. Yeah, probably. He's pretty friendly.

[Not to say he isn't at this age.]

I sssaw him with hisss mother, the firsst day I wasss here.

[yeah, he seems pretty friendly so far, and seems to be pretty comfortable around him, both of which are bonuses, and things he still isn't used to.]

[He looks a little surprised, then doesn't seem to at all, and just grins.]

Lucky you. How much did he want to play?

He wasss quite interesssted in my teeth, and the ssoundss I could make.

[His grin just got even bigger.]

Sounds about right. I wasn't really interested in human speech when I was a kid.

[he grins too, though of course his is much more alarming (but probably not to Aden).]

It iss nicsse to meet you when you can make sssoundss I can undersstand. I do not recall your name, however.

[He could not be less afraid if he tried.]

Aden. And you're an Axel?

[he nods bit, looking slightly sheepish.]

I am ssstill getting ussed to people knowing my name on sssight.

[Oh man he looks so amused, and he almost feels bad for it. Almost.]

Never had that problem myself. You'll get used to it.

I sssuppose.

[he recurls himself, eyeing the water in the hopes of something to eat.]

Sso were you invesstigating anything in particular, down here?

Nothing in particular. Just trying to figure out what kind of things live down here.

Batss? Perhapss ssome inssectss, and I wass rather hoping for ssome fissh to eat.

[he's been in caves before, but it wasn't a regular thing, and every time he was probably either hiding or single-mindedly searching for food for his tribe.]

Plenty of insects and bats. Dunno about fish, though.

[He looks curious himself now, eying the water below him with interest. Don't worry, he's not about to jump in or anything.]

I do not think it isss deep enough for anything of any ssize, no. I ssuppose I will jusst have to return to my and thaw ssomething to eat.

[he looks pretty sad about this. it takes time, and while he was never terribly happy about eating live or at least freshly dead prey, it IS a thoroughly different experience from waiting a few hours for a hunk of frozen meat to thaw out. he kind of misses the old way.]
