[ There's a perfectly ordinary hallway that branches off from one of the main, leading to a downward staircase. If one were to walk down, they would notice how the walls and stairs themselves are decaying, changing as the steps go down from the regular floors and ordinary wood to stone. It leads down, not too far, to a long series of underground tunnels. Mostly man-made, but with natural formations as well. The sound of water running can be heard to the left and loud, scraping footsteps to the right. Which direction would you take? ]

[Excuse me as I make my way right over to the bone pile. Actually, he's looking around at everything with some pretty intense fascination. He loves snakes. They're practically kin to him ~~and food and toys and everything else~~, so naga are pretty equally amazing. If not more so, because he doesn't know completely how they work. Yet.]

This is amazing.

Isss it? I only have the thingsss I need to be comfortable and happy.

[there's a crate full of in-progress things made from cleaned bones and leather, with some larger things next to the crate. if Aden goes close enough to Axel's nest, he might spot a somewhat scruffy-looking cat curled up among the blankets.]

Doesn't have to have any more than that to be amazing.

[omggg this stuff is all badass he has totally made a new friend. He's totally walking around the whole place investigating, but he's not touching anything. He's not that rude. He'll probably gravitate more toward the bones than anything, although seeing a naga's nest is pretty fascinating. Also wtf.]

Is that a cat?

[ :o he likes new friends! but he is honestly a little baffled by the intense interest in his den. the bone pile, yes, but the rest of it?]

Yesss, sshe appeared after I firsst ssettled in here, I think for the rodentss that came in for sscrapss from the boness.

[Naga are pretty badass, what can he say? Besides, he likes figuring out how anything works. Snakes are just one of his favorites, so naga are by extension. Hi kitty.]

Cool. Does she have a name?

[he looks past Aden to where the cat is, his head tilted, and then shakes his head. looks like the idea never even occurred to him.]

There hasss never been a need for one. I ssupposse I sshould think of one.

[the cat, who is affectionate towards Axel and tolerant of Nami is no longer sound asleep, and is watching Aden warily. if he appears to be moving directly towards her, she's going to get up and leave.]

Only if you feel like it.

[He doesn't name half of his pets. But that's because half of his pets end up as an experiment, or dinner. Or both. He's not moving toward the cat, because he knows he smells like other, weirder animals, and dead things, and that can be off-putting.]

[well, it's something to consider, anyway. he nods and moves to turn one of the heaters down, because it's pretty damn warm in here.]

The beetlesss mosstly sstay under the sscenter of the pile, ssso you might have to dig a bit.

Oh yeah.

[He moves back to the bone pile then, reaching into the inside of his coat to pull out a small, empty plastic container.]

That's fine. Not the first pile of bones I've gone digging in.

If you find any sskullss and want to keep them, you may. I do not have mucssh usse for them.

[and now he's sliding back out the door for a moment while Aden does whatever. he'll return in a minute with a frozen half of what appears to be a pig, slung over one shoulder, and heaves it onto a folded tarp by the wall opposite the bone pile. mmm, lunch.]

[Wh-- Holy shit. Aden watches him go, surprised and a little speechless. This is awesome. Why are naga so fucking cool.

He'll return to Aden already having picked out a couple bones from the pile, but carefully. He ditched his coat on the floor, too, and is in there up past his elbows. A couple of the beetles may or may not already be on his arms. Either way, he looks back up when Axel returns, eyes on the half-a-pig.]

[uhhhhhhhh if i had to theorize it would be because they aren't humans. /um. maybe Aden would like to either help Nami teach Axel stuff or just take over for some of it, now that Nami's busy having a heart and everything.]

I gather you like inssectss?

[He would like to. So much. Oh man that would be amazing, even if he could just help on occasion.]

Yeah. They're kind of a big thing where my dad comes from.

[He's careful not to hurt or squish any of them. He pulled out two more small containers when he shed his coat, and is now carefully placing one in each.]

Along with other thingss many humanss find disstassteful, yes? I remember I assked if the very young verssion of you wasss perhapss part ssomething not human, becausse of the noissess he wasss making. I wasss told that your father iss not human, but I wasss not told what he wasss insstead.

[it's really interesting to him that Aden's being so very careful with the beetles. also yeah, he should totally talk to Nami and ask about it. is he patient and good with analogies?]

[Aden grins brightly at that, clearly proud of his little self. Also yes, gosh. He has to be patient, look who he grew up with.]

Nah. I'm afraid I can't tell you, either. You're right about that first part, though.

[He screws the lid onto the second container, then holds it up to look at the beetle from below.]

Insects, the dead, monsters... They're all celebrated on that world.

It isss no wonder you were sso interessted, then. I finds humansss very interessting, sso perhapss this encounter will have been a good thing for both of uss.

[he gestures at the space around them, including himself and the bones in the motion, and then slides closer to peer at the container Aden's holding. he's never really taken the time to look at the beetles.]

I'd like to think so.

[He's still grinning when he turns, offering it to him to look at. They're not very big, round, only a couple inches in either direction.]

[he takes it carefully, claws ticking against it as he holds it close enough to be able to see the bug inside it.]

And you ssay you can breed thessse two, in the event that the othersss do not sstay wherever I choossse to go?

Yeah. Taking three, though, just in case. Might as well, that's all the containers I was carrying, but I'm going to see if I can snag another female.

[He puts the first one between his teeth and holds it there while he goes digging again.]

Shouldn't be too hard.

[he watches for a moment, then leans down to help hold some of the larger bones out of Aden's way. it's the least he can do, with what Aden's doing for him.]

[It's not so easy to tell with the living, intact beetles which is male and which is female, but Aden knows how. And if not, he has a spare and he'll just come back and steal more beetles. I mean.]

So when do you want to move?

I... sssupposse now that you have offered to help with thiss, I could do it asss ssoon asss I find a ssuitable den.

[he hadn't actually thought about it. one step at a time, with this fellow. now he's looking around his current den, at his few belongings. there's probably a wagon or something that he and Nami have both used to haul heaters, beanbags, and more meat for Axel. that would certainly help with moving somewhere else, plus Nami could take some things through a portal, even though he really shouldn't now.]

Better get looking.

[Ahhh, look, he found one, judging by the grin he has on his face when he straightens up from the pile. You're going in that last container, little miss.]

I will. I am ssure Nami will be able to help me find ssomething. Did you find another beetle?

[he hands the container he's been holding back to Aden, and moves away from the bone pile to give Aden space. he's well aware that people not familiar with him might not want him looming so close by, no matter how interesting he is to them.]

Yeah, got 'em. This should be easy, but I'll let you know if I need more.

[Psh. That's nice of him, but Aden's not the least bit bothered. Axel could lay on him and he wouldn't complain much, except for the fact that he probably couldn't breathe under all that weight. He'll be picking his coat back up and placing the containers in one of the numerous pockets sewn inside.]
