[Recent events have left a lot of flotsam cluttering the Destiny Islands beach over here, and the wind's blowing the waves into spray.

And sitting on a barrel over here, we have Xeha, gazing thoughtfully out over the waters. What's happened lately has been playing pretty heavily on his mind... These things come and go. But it's all shaken his confidence a little.

So, for the moment, the kid's taking it easy.]

[well, she's got nothing against Xigbars as a whole! mostly. but that one is the one that broke her Keyblade in the first place.]

At least it's over now, either way.

Yeah. [He sighs.] It's done. Nothing left but the mess.

I almost feel bad for them.

[someone got her with the whole BALANCE thing too, it seems.]

[He blinks. He didn't expect to hear that...]

Yeah...? How come?

I dunno, it's sort of silly I guess. I mean, I don't feel bad, really, 'cause they did try to destroy the dressing room and all. And they were probably just saying it to confuse me, but... a couple of 'em talked about how everyone hates the darkness and... shuns it, I guess? And it made me feel kinda bad, 'cause... they're right, sorta. I mean, them doing stuff like that wasn't really helping anyone's opinion of it, that's for sure. But aside from all the bad stuff... they sort of had a point.

Like ... that people get obsessed with light being good? That the world could be better if it was light and dark together? One of them talked to me about it too. The - uh. The old one.

Yeah, exactly! That people get obsessed over that. And it's sorta true, even if part of it is because the only people who really use darkness are the ones who use it for evil stuff. Like destroying the world.

[He nods.] I kind of wonder if it can be used for good at all? Not just - in neutral ways. And not just by good people - I've got a friend who I, uh, just found out was dark, and he's always been a decent guy as long as I've known him. But to do things right that light can't. Not to just destroy.

There's gotta be something it can be used for that's good.

[More nodding-]

Just what? I've never seen anything... I don't know. Maybe it's just because all we've ever seen it for is the destructive stuff. Older - [pause] - the one I was talking to said 'knowledge', but that's kind of vague...

I really don't know, but... I'm sure someone will find out some day!

Yeah. Hm - it destroys, we know that, could that be made into 'renewing' or 'cleaning' something? Dark, night, maybe something to do with sleep? [He shrugs.] I'm just guessing here. I mean, all we know is that it's dangerous. But I guess light can be too. Stare into the sun too long and you'd go blind, right? Light can destroy things... but we've never seen it do that.

Well... I know there are places that burn old plants and stuff on purpose so new stuff can grow in. Maybe it's something like that? Maybe if there's... I dunno, a world out there where people have mostly died off, and nothing's really growing or anything... maybe the darkness takes it and makes it a new world?

That... would make a lot of sense with what I was told, actually...

But whatever the case, those guys were definitely doing it wrong if they really just want balance.

Yeah. They're not giving it a good name. It could be something! But not when it's full of Heartless and destruction!

Yeah. I hope things do work out someday. ...and I hope they have nothing to do with it.

[He gives a grim nod.] You can't make things right by destroying them. So I hope they'll go right some other way.

Yeah...

[man, this is a sort of depressing topic, isn't it.]

[He looks down, trying to think of a way to change it along a more inspiring route.]

Hey, um... what d'you know about spells? Like, aside from the basic stuff?

[she figures he's a good person to ask, since he's so smart, and it changes the subject!]

Uh, not much specifically? I mean, I can cast a few, but apart from that...

Darn. See, um, the Xigbar I ran into, I'm pretty sure she cast something on me, because suddenly I could only move really slowly. And after that, she cast something on the Heartless that turned them to stone.

Mmm. Okay, those aren't spells I know offhand... I might have something somewhere about those kind of things, but that's it?

Nah, it's okay. I was just asking you since you know a lot more about... well, everything, probably, than I do.
