[There's a new face among the Dressing Room. On the floor in the room that simulates Never Was, mind you, and unconscious. Which is probably a good thing considering fragments, blue in color, are still collecting, creating her form. Most of herself has been retained by then though. All that's left are her legs and they'll probably recollect before anyone draws near. Her hood is up, but the small frame makes it pretty obvious who it could be for anyone who would know her.]

I probably should get one of those for myself anyway

[He gave a nod as he led her through the garden, not entirely sure what to say for the moment. He wanted to talk at this point. Roxas wanted to know how she felt about that last thing -if it made her feel as strangely nice inside as he had.

Trying to push everything aside was hard -it wasn't something he was very good at doing for very long and the last thing he'd want would be Xion worrying about him spacing out. After everything they'd been through, he just wanted to find some place where they could just relax; somewhere safe where they could just talk about happier things to do. Perhaps find a beach or some ice cream, maybe even look for a world where they could just try their hands at being regular people like what their Other was probably doing now. But this would just be something he'd have to endure for now.

As they made their way through the hedges and other plants, Roxas admittedly felt slightly on guard. While they'd yet to encounter any normal people, he was certain that the NeoShadows they fought were real and if Heartless could manifest there, certainly they could also appear here. And yet it just seemed like it never happened. It took a little more than a couple minutes at a normal walking pace, still hand-in-hand before they walked along the awning and found themselves at the rather impressive doors.

And that was where he hesitated. Old habits wanted him to be sneaky. To try and enter without being noticed, observe who, if anyone that was around and then learn what he could from the surroundings. No, that was the way the Organization worked and if a more obvious approach made others more inclined to help or listen, then that's how things would go this time.]

I'll go first.

[His comment was hushed, not quite a whisper. Loathingly, he released his grip on her hand as he grasped the handle to the large door and pulled. With more a squeak than a groan, the heavy door swung open slowly. Beyond it, the library sprawled out into more a decent-sized room than the massive room that would have been expected. And yet like the rest of the castle that they'd seen, it was devoid of life.]

That's weird...

[Roxas trailed off a little as he did as promised, going first and peering around the room as each of his steps echoed.]

Hello! Is anyone here?!

[His voice echoed as well as he walked over to the lone desk in the room, lacking papers or anything to suggest that any work was being done or any tome being researched. If either of them were aware of what it was, it would have been like walking onto a movie set.]

Speaking of lazy, I sure took my sweet time on this one

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-10-11 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[This was peculiar and a new train of thought was gradually beginning to emerge from all of this. So far, aside from each other, the only things they'd encountered were Heartless. Appreciatively, they'd only had one run in and while it was almost overwhelming, it wasn't anything they couldn't handle. And then there was the fact that they'd started in The World That Never Was, yet woke up in what he was certain was King Mickey's castle.

In both cases, the areas were completely pristine despite the fact that he was fairly sure that at least the Organization's stronghold should have been in near ruins the way he'd last seen it. While it wasn't a far stretch to think that even the whole of the King's friends could have gone out on an outing with him, there wasn't even a sign of those strange, walking brooms with buckets. And especially with the treasure in the Throne Room, he figured that someone must be around to guard it.

At this point, it made a pretty easy consideration for where they should look next. If push came to shove and that ended up being a dead-end, at least he was fairly sure the Gummi Ship hanger would at least yield a means for them to go elsewhere.

Of course, the other possibility that he wasn't caring much for was that somehow, they were still in Sora's inner world and it had just been so long that Xion had managed to recompose herself the same way he stubbornly refused to dissipate into their Other's consciousness. Of that possibility, he certainly didn't like -though making that one more of a stretch was that it wouldn't make sense for there to be Heartless here. So there was at least that making something of a positive note.]

I guess we'll just check the Throne Room and if no one's there...

[He trailed off a little, his thoughts trying to keep on the more optimistic side of things. Roxas offered that derpy, boyish smile as he chuckled a little.]

If no one else is there, then I guess we'll see if the two of us can fly a Gummi Ship.

[It wasn't a bad thought really. The idea of traveling through the other worlds like a perpetual summer vacation with her just sounded really nice.]

Heh and it's not like we're timed on this one.

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
[He wasn't going to complain with Xion taking the lead. Thinking back now to how Saix always called her a useless doll, he figured that giving her a chance to take point on something would probably help her feel better about herself. Plus it freed him up to think the situation over a little more -not like he felt he was making much in the way of progress, but it at least gave him a chance to come up with things for them to talk about.

However her inquiry caught his attention and he decided to answer as they made their way out of the library and toward the rather impressive doors leading into the Throne Room.]

Yeah. I know we usually use the Dark Corridors to get from world to world, but Sora and his friends always traveled by this thing called a "Gummi ship".

[He paused a moment, not really sure how to explain what he knew of the vessels without actually having a picture. Admittedly, that did bring up the option of them just trying to open a Dark Corridor, but for some reason, the concept just didn't sound appealing to him as it once did.]

I mean, I guess we could try opening a Dark Corridor. I'm just thinking that opening one of those usually attracts attention, usually the kind that comes from Heartless or other Nobodies.

Besides... I don't see why our other should have all the fun of flying one all to himself.

Very true. Also, short tag is slightly short.

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Really, he was shocked that he didn't remember that there was a much smaller door set in the throne room's doors, but for some reason the whole thing didn't just register to him. The yelp caught his attention immediately and once more, he found his body reacting leaps and bounds ahead of his thoughts.

He lunged for Xion. Completely on auto-pilot, he tried to slip one arm around her waist while the other went to grab the edge of the door and hopefully keep both of them from completely tumbling through the entry. Of course, even if he was successful in this endeavor, there'd be the somewhat compromising position of the two being pressed against each other.

But then, thinking ahead about these kinds of things was never really Roxas' strong point.]

Yeah. I just get my jollies tl;dr'ing you.

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
[This was something new. He wasn't really sure of what to make of this exactly. It felt peculiar, awkward and almost strangely pleasant to be so close to Xion. For a moment he just stood there -while her mind was rushing and trying to process all of this, his just seemed to completely crash. His eyes glanced downward to see her face, waiting for her eyes to meet his as he looked for some kind of response from her.

It was almost like asking the blind to lead, but he honestly had no idea how he should feel about this or what he should do. So he waited to see just how she responded to give him at least a clue of whether or not this was even appropriate. Frankly, if left to his devices, he found this kind of closeness rather welcome -not that he'd let his expression show it.

Nope, that expression was somewhat frozen in a crimson-tinted, confused look of general surprise and uncertainty. But to his credit, he at least managed to get some semblance of a sound out.]

Uhmm... uh... should I... I -I should get us standing upright.

Exactly. Also, remember to send the source on that icon next time we chat.

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[He managed something of an uncertain nod in response as he shifted his center of balance a little. With a little adjustment in his footing, he managed to pull the two of them upright once more, Roxas waiting until he was sure Xion balanced herself before slowly and somewhat reluctantly letting his arm slip away from her waist.

In that moment, his heart or whatever he had for one had been pounding -it was almost as exhilarating as it was awkward. And then there they were again; it seemed that since they'd waken up here, such moments were becoming at least somewhat more frequent. Secretly, it's nothing he'd mind so much if he had some clue as to what any of it meant or any of the odd 'feelings' that came with it.]

There we go. Uhm, are you okay?

[His laugh that was to follow was nervous, unwilling to betray the aspect of him that had enjoyed the warmth and closeness, because he had so little of an understanding of it. Yet, he was hoping that they have a chance to experience it again and then however many times it took for them to understand why it caused such awkward sensations mixed with such nice ones.]

That reminds me that I need to cycle this boy's icons within the next couple days

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-11-10 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
[He was about to protest about whether or not he should worry when he figured at this point that it was simply how she was. It wasn't something he couldn't relate to; he didn't like friends spending too much time worrying about him either. Still, the way she seemed to hesitate in even giving as much as a glance in his direction was at least a little troubling.]

Yeah, I'm right behind you.

[Ultimately, he chalked it up to just nerves. Aside from having an exceptionally rapid and relatively traumatic reunion, they still had no idea what their situation was exactly or if they were even Nobodies still. There were just a number of things that didn't quite add up to him.

Pushing all of that aside, he merely followed after her into the throne room, finding himself in at least somewhat familiar territory. Still that emptiness was bothering him. Just the thrones and no sign of any life aside from the two of them. And this was supposed to be where the Cornerstone was kept. Yet there was no sign of it at all.]

This is really strange. Do you see anything?

On the agenda for the next couple days.

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-11-11 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
[His cursory examination of the throne room wasn't turning up anything that they wouldn't have been able to tell just by peeking in the door. It was just so strange that the place would be so barren of anything; not the castle's treasure, its inhabitants or even its guards.

To his frustration, he found himself almost wishing the Heartless that had plagued most of Sora's visit to the place were present so that there was something where he remembered it. But there wasn't anything like that. It was like being on a mockup or a really poor recreation, like the digital Twilight Town, only if DiZ had decided to really lax on his efforts to make the place look authentic.

Finally her question got his attention.]

Yeah, he was... but the Cornerstone's no where around here.

None of the people that were here are.

I don't know what to make of it.

[He was going between nervous and frustrated. It scared him, really. That paranoid voice in his head was suggesting now that perhaps somehow both of them were now in some kind of data recreation, only it'd never been completed. But he didn't want to worry her with such a wild theory, at least not until he had something to even begin confirming his suspicion with.

In a way he felt bad thinking that way; they'd promised to be open with each other this time. But Xion already worried about so much as it was, he really didn't want her upset because his imagination was jumping at shadows. Eventually he reached a compromise; he decided that if he found the slightest shred of evidence, then he would tell her.]

Well, that leaves just one place left.

Ara?

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
[He gives an affirmative nod, pushing his worries and fears aside for the moment and covering it over with as honest a smile as he could muster. It both hadn't been long and yet it had, he kept telling himself that they'd overcome fate by even seeing each other again; so no matter what this world turned out to be, they'd find a way.

Roxas was however, a little surprised when Xion's hand seemed to seek his own out. Whether she'd intended to or not, feeling her hand in his just seemed to reassure him that things were going to be okay. Smile no longer lacking in any sincerity whatsoever, he lets her lead off as they travel back into the garden, winding between a few hedges and finally ending up at the door to what should be the gummi hanger.]

Well, it's the last place we have to check.

Oh yeah, I remember now.

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
[What Roxas expected was the odd mix of metal and wooden structures that composed the Gummi Hanger and its launch control center where a diminutive duo made sure the whole operation was running fine. He expected a dock with a vessel that appeared as if it'd been constructed from the most basic shapes of a child's plastic linking block toy.

What he got was perhaps the most unusual sight he could have possibly imagined and yet there was a sinking feeling in his gut that he really should have seen something like this coming.

On a plus side, this did wondrous things for alleviating his fears that they were in a data-world all alone or in Sora's heart or anything strange like that. At least he was fairly sure now that they were out and some place else. And there were extra people around to boot.

Of course, wherever they were now, he had no idea. And who all these other people were, he seemed as genuinely dumb-founded as Xion was. His hand kept a firm grip on hers for a moment as they took in their new surroundings. So lost in his general feel of amazement, he'd accidentally brushed past someone. His view immediately panned to the individual in question as they walked off; a person that reminded him of a peculiarly more masculine-looking Xion who eyed him back for a moment with similar curiosity.

It was only when his friend released his hand and clutched her head that he snaps back into reality, immediately turning his attention to her.]

Xion! Are you okay?!

Yeah, you really don't skimp the details when you do your research

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-11-16 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Shock was the most underwhelming word he could have used as he watched Xion's form shift and warp -it took him a moment before he realized just what exactly was going on and even that was largely a guess.

If she's a replica and that one time she looked like Sora because of the memories I gave her, then with all these other Soras, me, herself...

Roxas found it mildly insulting as he glanced around; no one seemed to care. For whatever reason, he figured that people having a crisis in the middle of a crowded hall must be a common scene here. Still, he crouched to one knee as he found he could only watch in abject horror as she continued to shift, fear gripping whatever he had for a heart as he dreaded losing her.

Nevermind the fact that there were likely other versions of her wandering around this place. This one was his specific friend that he knew and cared a great deal for and whatever the reason for all these other versions of themselves wandering around, it didn't dilute how much this one meant to him by the slightest bit.

He found himself able to breathe again as he saw her form stabilize. Xion seemed out like a light, but he was relieved that she at least didn't seem like she was going to come apart at the seams.

Blame Organization training kicking in, but he really didn't want to spend any more time in public than they already had -at least not until he knew she was alright. Admittedly, it wasn't easy because he wasn't very strong, but he carefully lifted his friend bridal-style before approaching probably the most commonplace source of reliable anything he could think of: a Moogle.

After a brief conversation and a nod, he hastily began carrying Xion off to the nearest quiet, out of the way spot that small creature could offer for a person with no money; an empty corner of a public park. There he laid her on a bench and waited for her to wake again.]

I suppose. XD I wrote down notes, after all.

[identity profile] linesupthelies.livejournal.com 2010-11-16 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Minutes passed by.... Minutes that grew to an hour... and then a second hour. But still, Xion lay on the bench without the slightest hint of recovering. If he look carefully, he might not even have been able to tell if she were still breathing or not. ...Not that it was for certain that a replica needed to breathe anyway, but even so. She wasn't waking.... and every so often, the memories seemed to stretch the surface of her unconscious mind and her appearance would take on someone else for a flicker of time before she would regain her form. It was only every so often at first... but the longer he seemed to wait, the worse it seemed to get.

And meanwhile, the park remained as it was with low traffic. With those that walked by not seeming to care. On the rare occasion, he would get a pitiable look, but that was it. At least up until a certain Naminé walked by... only to stall in her steps. She looked older. In wisdom, of course. After all, they didn't age. Physically at least. She seemed to study them a moment before moving along with a hesitance. Roxas, might wanna play catch up.]

Yeah, you're certainly thorough.

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-11-16 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
[As the time passed, he sat there tirelessly with her hand in his, watching with reserved fear in his gut each time Xion's features shifted to and fro. If he'd any idea that this would've been waiting for them on the other side of that door, he would've contented himself to staying with her in that garden 'till the ends of time. No, that was a lie. Eventually they would've found their way here, wherever 'here' was.

The Moogle that directed him here described this world as a 'Dressing Room', whatever that meant. Roxas figured there would be time later to figure out what exactly this place is after he got his friend back. He certainly didn't endure a mental crash after reuniting with her, only to lose her again.

Should anyone have given him a glance while he waited, he would've paid them no mind. No one certainly had it in them to show the slightest hint of compassion in regards to Xion's plight and if that were the case, he'd figure out a solution himself... if he could figure out what was wrong with her in the first place. He didn't have the slightest inkling about the workings of a unique Nobody like her.

Part of him was shaking his head at himself, even in his thoughts he refused to call her anything less than what he'd accept for himself. It would almost be endearing if he'd the capacity to wretch his thoughts off trying to save her so he'd care about such a matter.

Roxas never quite had the flair for 'sensing' people like his contemporaries could. But as the new comer approached, the hairs on the back of his neck stood up as he shifted his balance and turned to face the 'visitor'. His posture was defensive; he didn't trust anything here and protecting his friend was occupying his thoughts completely.

At least until recognition kicked in and he felt a mild wave of annoyance. Another person he'd never expected to see. Their last encounter had actually been rather nice. Just stealing a glance when their Others were reunited and happy back at Destiny Island. He had no idea then all that had been lost and kept from him. And the look in his eyes practically begged the question 'why' as he stared at her for a moment.

Then finally his voice returned to him in time to talk. There was no wavering or hesitance in his voice]

I'm sorry Namine. But unless you're here to help, could you run along for now?

Details will probably go fuzzy soon enough though. Memory like a sieve. L-LOL

[identity profile] linesupthelies.livejournal.com 2010-11-16 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[She paused in her step again as he caught her eyes. As if it were the first time she had really seen him, standing there as if only an apparition. Ironic in the sense of the look on her own face as if she were facing an old ghost. But if she had any intention of moving on, his doing had dismissed the thought. Because with her attention back on them, another wave of different faces flitted through Xion and recognition seemed to snap to Naminé's own features. Concern finally seeming to befit her own. Not panicked but rather realized. And despite what Roxas had to say, Naminé made her way over.

She stopped when she was a few feet off from them though, not daring to get any closer. The Roxae she had met here were all pretty different. And that was just putting it lightly. But either way, she wasn't about to risk breaking the rest of the distance. Not without explanation anyway. Which was why she had stepped up in the first place. As she eyed Xion carefully, she noted:]

She just arrived here, didn't she. [Her voice calm but knowing. Like she had seen something like this before.] If she continues like this... she won't wake up. Her memories need to be rechained. [She studied Xion's face a beat before drawing back to focus on Roxas again, her mouth a thin line. Eyes clouded in thought. But underneath there seemed to be a question of his approval. Ironic considering the circumstances in which Roxas himself was prone to knowing her. The one he knew never really gave him that choice... but then she didn't seem to have the power that this one sounded as if she possessed either.]

Heh, mine's not too much better... ah well.

[identity profile] notquiteanobody.livejournal.com 2010-11-17 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
[He was cautious, everything had come together so fast -he wasn't even sure if a full day had passed before they'd found that door and just as quickly, Xion fell apart as she had. And while his inability to keep track of the days was troubling, it was a concern he was more than willing to put on the backburner in the face of the more pressing matter at hand.

So all the more reason he kept his defensive posture. Roxas wasn't sure what was going on; why there were so many of himself and people he knew, not to mention just the subtle visual variations thereof, he hadn't even time to plumb the possibilities of what other differences there might be. But he did know that at least from where he and Xion came from, this girl whom he'd viewed as his friend, was one of the people that convinced Xion to take the path she did. And frankly, that did little to win any points with him.

Still, her demeanor hadn't changed and for the moment, Naminé at least sounded like she had some idea of what was afflicting his friend. So he gave an affirmative nod when she asked about the timing of their arrival. The second part ended up being a little more vague; something about rechaining memories seemed both familiar and alien at the same time -at least there was nothing in either his memories, the ones he'd gained from Sora or ones he'd remembered thanks to his reunion with Xion.]

Rechained?

[His tone betrayed his curiosity. The Nobody stole a glance at the girl on the bench, feeling that coiled dread squeezing his gut each time her appearance shifted. Roxas returned his attention to Naminé, his eyes staring into hers as if to impress the seriousness of the situation upon her.]

If you know how you save her, then just tell me. I'll do whatever's needed.
