[There's a new face among the Dressing Room. On the floor in the room that simulates Never Was, mind you, and unconscious. Which is probably a good thing considering fragments, blue in color, are still collecting, creating her form. Most of herself has been retained by then though. All that's left are her legs and they'll probably recollect before anyone draws near. Her hood is up, but the small frame makes it pretty obvious who it could be for anyone who would know her.]
Yeah, but it'd save me a lot of trouble. ;D
Xion herself wasted no time though trying for a counter attack. She raced past Roxas suddenly with what seemed like adrenaline guiding her and helping her despite her weary looking state. Coming at the doll with a combo of her own. Trying to just end this as quickly as possible from the look of things.]
Cause I'm such a nice guy, I'll just be straight-up nice next time things call for it.
It struck him at that moment that something was wrong with her -something hadn't worked and she was still reflecting their Other.
With the shake of his head, Roxas dismisses the thought as he rushes back into the fray. Right now, it was the doll was the immediate problem and they needed it out of the way for -at least for the time being. His Keyblade shifts back to his better hand as he leaps high and glides toward the battle, getting a glance at the damage he'd inflicted.
Hedging his bets on the wings being dead-weight now, he tries to angle his landing to put his feet squarely on the useless appendage. If Xion seemed inclined to end this quickly, he could just hope that her actions could at least distract it long enough for him to simply run across it's wing and take a shot at its head.
Maybe without that, the doll might just give them the break they needed to assess things.]
Someone's certainly full of crap today. ;D
But again, Xion wouldn't seem to have it. She conjured up an aeroga, throwing it at the doll as it sat there. The doll again hadn't enough time to react and was sent flying further, skidding across the floor. Xion watched it with a grimace befitting her.]
Tell you what. I'll be nice the day you decide to do the same.
But on the same note, the Riku he fought turned into Xion... maybe a Xion, perhaps if they were somehow inside her, there were more? The notion admittedly made his head hurt as he pulled back. He wasn't sure if he should allow this to keep going, but he had no proof. And then if he was wrong, there'd be no end to the trouble that could come of it.
There was more to this, he was sure of it. He just didn't know how everything came together.
And then he developed a plan -at least something that should get things to work for the time being. He hastily took up a defensive position beside Xion, his eyes focused on the doll.]
We should try to restrain it.
You said it was blocking the way out for you. If there's more ahead, it'd help if we knew what was waiting, right?
Tch. I was nice or don't you remember?
Restraining... Yeah, that might work. [Xion nodded just a little and then looked up at him. The volume of her voice turning low.] Do you think you could distract it? I think I have an idea.
I remember. I'm just saying that I'll be nice again when you are.
There were other things coming up as off about the situation too. Not only his friend's appearance, but something about her wasn't quite adding up. There was something more aggressive about her -maybe it was just being exposed to so many new memories in addition to the flood of his own that just returned, but he couldn't ever remember Xion being that way.
For a moment, he turned his attention to her, offering a grin.]
Whatever you're planning to do, don't keep me waiting.
[Blame him being reckless again, but having said that, he charged. His initial vector seemed off-kilter for a direct assault; rather his line of travel would put him off to the side of the doll. But at a little more than a few Keyblade-lengths out, he changed direction abruptly.
Using a short hop, he immediately went into a series of Air Slides, leaving a row of Blizzaga hovering neatly in a line in his wake. Not finished yet, he took to the air with a High Jump, immediately shifting to a Glide and circling around to hopefully swoop in behind the doll and restrain it.]
1/2 Sure, sure~
and Venswere in the dressing room. Just how many memories she had absorbed... While Roxas had gotten a taste of them, it was just that. A sample. And as many things went for the two of them, nothing ever seemed simple...Xion nodded towards Roxas, taking up a stance. Waiting on her cue. She knew without a doubt. She could trust him on this one. She had to. What other way would she...? And as he started towards the doll, she was right behind him. Footsteps quick and light with Two Become One at the ready.
The doll had finally managed to find its footing in the meantime but for the moment seemed to had only watched on wearily as the two conversed. Whether it heard them or not was debatable. But it definitely didn't miss Roxas suddenly coming down upon with with a shower of blizzaga spells. It ducked and wove as best as it could. The first spell missed. As did the second when it lost its balance from only having the one wing and nearly fell back to the ground. As the doll released the wing from its shoulder, the third one hit the ground before it, freezing one of its legs in place momentarily. And as it struggled to pull itself from that, the last one impacted its other leg. The doll took a moment to try and break away before it was looking up, just catching a glimpse of Roxas before he was behind her. And then its arms were being immobilized by him. The doll suddenly started to struggled almost feverishly. Trying to pull away.
And then it fell stark still. As Two Becomes One found itself plunged into the doll's belly. And suddenly, there came a high pitched wail from the doll. Xion twisted the keyblade before tearing it out and another cry emitted from it, its legs giving out as darkness encased its form. Xion herself hopped back, watching with malicious intent... ]
2/2
Rox... as...
Ah, how I love the edit button
He really had to learn not to let himself get too excited over these things.
The shrill cry was his first sign that something had gone wrong. To his utter shock and appellation, Xion had completely disregarded his suggestion to just restrain the doll and like a fool, he'd set her up perfectly to deal a fatal blow.
Roxas could feel the blood draining from his face as he watched as his friend display a brutality he'd had reserved for only a select few in the world. He cringed as he watched her twist and pull the blade, eliciting another shriek from the doll before it crumbled before him.
And then to his horror -like with Riku, like he had feared once that little voice in the back of his head got through to him, it became Xion.
All at once, puzzle pieces began to frantically try and assemble themselves in his head and the only thing he'd been able to come up with was that he was going about things all wrong. He was taking too much at face value and in the process, he was either directly or indirectly terminating his friend.
Watching what used to be the doll fall forward, he lunged and neatly caught her, curling an arm around her as he knelt with the form of his friend he was most used to in his arms. His mind was racing -her wound was vicious and he needed to act quickly.]
Curaga!
[He called out his spell; a brilliant, shimmering halo forming around the two of them as he hoped that somehow, the damage could be undone.
Roxas hadn't paid any mind to the Xion he'd been fighting along side while tending to the wounds of the one in his arms.]
I- I don't know what got into you, but I was afraid of something like this when I told you that we should take it alive.
[There was a mix of emotion in his voice; restraint, disappointment, fear and even mild aggravation. Yet still he didn't actually turn to look at the Sora!Xion. Blame him being naive, trying not to remember that cruel expression on her face when she dealt the finishing blow. He wanted to believe that Xion -no matter what version, fragment, or whatever, was still his friend.]
Part of it's my fault for not explaining. But I didn't expect you to do this!
Of course. It's the edit button. So glorious~
And all the while, the Xion who had been the cause of the wound? Stood there simply staring. Motionless. With an emotionless expression rooted to her face. One that slowly curved into a sly smile. She looked nothing like either herself or even Sora now. Her expression was dark. And disgustingly sadistic as she suddenly turned her keyblade on Roxas himself, holding it to his throat all of a sudden.]
That was the point. What better way than to use a means to an end. Or beginning, I guess I should say. And you just followed without even giving it a second thought. But then you always trusted me so easily.
[She spat the last part out cynically.] Seems like you always put your trust in the wrong people though. Such a shame~
Yeah. I'm so used to having it only on the sponsored account.
It was a shame, he considered. Sora knew a version of Curaga much more potent than what he'd cast -even if it did only effect himself. Certainly, he figured if he knew that version, he could simply use the effect on Xion to restore her, but that was just not something at his disposal. So instead he started focusing, readying himself to try and force out the strongest Cure spell he could...
When he found a Keyblade at his throat.
Again, his poor judgment of the situation seemed to be causing problems for him. No doubt wherever he was, whatever version he'd been lectured by, Riku was probably laughing at him for this oversight.
Well, they always say that experience is the best teacher.]
Yeah, it's a bad habit of mine. Blame our Other, right?
[There was a peculiar calm to his voice. Somehow, he knew he could make things right. He believed in himself. The Xion that was his friend always believed in him. Wherever he was, Axel believed in him -or at least that's what he always thought.]
Ah... Yeah. I'm still getting used to the edit button myself since I only have it on this account.
I guess that it would be only nature. But, see. That Other gave me an existence. And when you became a part of me, it became all but ensured. At least until she came along.
[She pointed the keyblade temporarily at the Xion that lay in his lap before redirecting it back at Roxas again.]
But that just means I'll have to absorb you both. [There was a more than maddeningly glint to her eye as she suddenly reached up her hand that hadn't been holding the keyblade, a nasty full fledge firaga tearing from it at almost point blank towards Roxas and the Xion he had nestled in his arms.]
What's sucky for me is that I'm probably gonna end up buying a year sub for this guy now.
Admittedly, he found that he waited too long and with a Firaga at point-blank, all he could do was use his body to shield the downed Xion. The blast was painful -he could feel his skin charring and his jacket burning through. But on a plus side, Firaga was a strong enough spell that it packed with it a fairly impressive explosion.
Roxas found himself with an almost maniacal grin on his face as he felt the searing wind carry him away. He righted himself as he flew, making sure to keep Xion with him and hoping that he'd taken the full brunt of the spell -if nothing, keeping her from anything more than superficial damage.
Air Slide carried him father away as he landed in a crouch, immediately casting another Curaga, if only to dull the pain he felt and hopefully stabilize his friend. Laying Xion down, he touched her, whispering the strongest Cure he could muster in his battered state and hoped for the best. It might have been overkill on the healing, but he'd rather be sure that she could last a little bit without him.
Clamoring to his feet, he turned to face his opponent. In a flash, Aubade was again in his hand as he leveled a glare at his new enemy.
"I'm not good enough yet. But just wait and I'll make all that stuff I said true."]
That's a nice story, but you should ask our Other and his friend. They'll tell you I'm very prone to resisting that sort of thing.
Oh? How come?
The Sorized Xion had approached them by then. Two Become One poised and ready and that snide smile on her face yet.]
I've done it once before. Think I couldn't do it again? Don't make me laugh!
[She raised it suddenly and a thunder spell came crashing down towards him. And, of course, dirty fighting meant that she had sank one in Xion's direction as well. Have fun with that.]
Just cause I'll be too weirded out once I lose that edit button.
He had to get this one out of reach.
Barely having time to lay his friend out so she was at least minimally comfortable, he immediately turned and rushed the Sora!Xion.]
Maybe!
[Close to melee range, his fist crackled with his own lightning as he pointed an accusing finger at his opponent. Whatever there was for a sky boomed as a massive Thundaga blast dropped on their location from above, it's impact sending a scatter of sparks across the ground.
If they evaded or somehow defended, it wouldn't matter. Another Air Slide put him immediately in the range he excelled at as he swung his Keyblade in a wide-arc.]
It's not sure that I'll beat you or not, but you won't touch her again.
I guess that's true.
As the thunder came raining down at the Sorized Xion, she air slid out of the way without much effort. Whatever damage that had seemed to be done to her had all been a sham if her quick reactions told him anything. She didn't even seem all that surprised when he came at her then. In fact, she was grinning smugly as her keyblade flickered and changed right as they clashed, Two Become One giving way to Ultima Weapon.]
Won't touch her? I'll do whatever I want! [Pressing up against his before pushing roughly forward, trying to off balance him.]
Plus I mean, the extra icons are pretty nice.
From his standpoint, the shift in weapon told him that wherever this version came from, she likely destroyed Sora as well. Ironically, it was her doing as he'd always believed and claiming the right to exist... but it was different from what he wanted. He wanted a chance to exist, but he didn't want to erase anyone to do so.
In either case, her gestures did nothing to intimidate him. His only concern was that Ultima Weapon was designed to aid in spell craft, which made it clear that she was trying to keep her option of attacking the other Xion open. This just wouldn't do.]
Shut up!
[He just couldn't think of anything else to say.
Roxas took a gamble again. Instead of push and trying to counter-balance, he let himself slip and letting her push forward. At the same moment, he brought Aubade to the ground to keep from falling as he threw a well-aimed punch at the Sorized Xion's chest... a punch laced with his new 'spell in a fist' trick, specifically a Firaga.]
Hells yeah, they are. @@;; Xion's a muse that it's really nice to have them.
Shut up? Is that all you can say every time you get cornered? Always so dense.
I'd bet.
Not anger at the situation, not even anger at his opponent but anger that Riku -in fact everyone seemed right that he wasn't able to measure up to any of the ambitions he'd laid before him. Simple ambitions. Ambitions that were on the common ground between himself and his Other.
We have come for you, my liege.
For a moment, he wondered if on the steps of his and Xion's impending ruin, he'd begun to go mad. But then the strangest notion occurred to him: nothing was moving -he wasn't even drawing breath. He wondered if this was just some sort of limbo Nobodies saw before they were erased. But then a stray glance to his right brought him face to face with a Nobody, a Samurai-type... one of his.
He blinked, his eyes refocusing and he could seen several of them. Barely translucent in the shadows, all staring at him. Roxas' eyes glanced into the helmet of the one closet to him and rather than seeing or hearing anything, he felt.
In the few hours he'd begun to exist again, he'd been losing himself by concentrating on those common things between himself and Sora. But he'd never stopped to think about the things that made him different and yet still were qualities that could be admirable if used the right way.
He was quicker to anger; the better to lash out at those that hurt the ones he wanted to protect. He wasn't as out-going; the better to listen when people needed it. He didn't have a heart; he could still feel and sympathize. He was a Nobody; his will was stronger because that will defined him in lieu of a heart.
And more importantly, it allowed him to give purpose to those who'd lost all sense of self. To give reason to those whose only surviving instincts were to fight. To use that will to fight, to protect those things that were most important.
He understood.
Time resumed as he struggled to keep from buckling and letting her break his wrist. His grin took on a half-mad quality to it as his eyes met hers.]
AEROGA!
[In an instant, the cyclone kicked up around him. If it provided even a moment's distraction, he would take that; using the gust of air to lift him as he threw both his legs out at the Sorized Xion in a drop kick. Though rather than drop, the wind carried him.
Then if that weren't enough, a quartet of Samurai Nobodies materialized in the arena, two flanking his foe just outside of striking range while the second pair formed a defensive line near the injured Xion.]
8D;;; Vergeofgoddingvergeofgoddingwhat.
And so when that aeroga spell came it wasn't fear that took her features but a smirk- one that held even as she was thrown away and as he summoned some back up. Samurai nobodies, huh? Well. Two could play at that game. If there was ever a doubt that this Xion had ever absorbed him, it was about to be thoroughly crushed. As a samurai nobody of her own making materialized, grabbing her and pulling her aside before that kick could connect. Three more appeared soon after. Easily evening the odds against the ones Roxas had summoned himself as the Sorized Xion hopped back to gain some decent distance, took aim, and Roxas was now going head to head with a sonic blade.]
Heh, it's hard to resist adding some headcanon in to level the playing field.
Admittedly, he'd admit that he was still woefully out-matched here. If she'd just absorbed him, that would have been one thing -an extra Keyblade and some Samurai Nobodies, not much difficulty there. But in absorbing Sora as well, she gained all of his special abilities -abilities that he'd admit were legion compared to his own. It was looking grim indeed.
His eyes drifted closed for a moment. He could feel the world crawling to a stop for a moment as he wordlessly uttered a silent prayer of sorts.
Axel... Xion... I need my friends now. I don't know how -but I need you to help me. I'm fighting for all of us. Somehow, somewhere. I need you to believe in me. And from that, I'll find a way.
Whether the psychological moment to breathe granted it or if somehow his friends responded, it couldn't be said. But he could feel a wave of clarity flooding his senses as he watched the Sonic Blade coming at him. His body twisted as the attack neared, the rain guard of Aubade deflecting the direct hit as he used it for leverage and snapped his leg out in a lightning-fast snap-kick aimed directly at that arrogant smirk.
Whatever happened. Somehow he knew they believed in him. Whether it a trick of his imagination or not, that couldn't be said. But because of that. He wouldn't give up until his body and will were rendered to nothingness.]
8} And it's just the beginning, Roxas. Oh-ho~
And in the meantime , the samurai nobodies that she had summoned herself were already on the offensive with the ones he had guarding Xion. Quickly taking to dueling it out with them two on two.
The Sorized Xion heaved an exaggerated sigh and then she was nonchalantly raising her hand and more thunder struck towards him. As she quickly air slid right at him in the meantime. But just as she reached him- she slid into a reversal, attacking him from behind.]
You should've seen him cringe when he read that
Of course it well might be.
As the mid-air battle continued, the defenders met the Sorized Xion's offensive line head-on, initiating their own dueling stances. Time slowed and in a flash, the numbers thinned out -only a single survivor from each team remained. Not content in the least to let another chance instant leave the injured Xion alone, Roxas' surviving Samurai leaped into melee with the other, blades lashing out at its foe with a furious speed that reflected its master's growing animosity.
Above, Roxas hadn't fared as well. Deft maneuvering dodged the thunder and while he didn't trust the direct charge to be her intended line of assault, he couldn't react quickly enough to her reversal to meet her assault. The first stroke left a searing pain down his back and in that instant, he realized that he wouldn't be able to turn about to defend from the next hit.
So he gambled again as the next hit came in. He turned as well as he could, his Keyblade lashing out to both block the next hit and if he was lucky, interlock the teeth of their weapons. His focus was good, so he confident that the block at least, would have a high success rate. And if it did, he'd have a rude surprise waiting for her; he'd just remembered his technique to immediately counter a blocked hit by freezing the attacker.
From there, just maybe he might be able to turn the tide.]
Oh-hoho~ Snap. Man, he just keeps trying. Although he can't be blamed.
Something that may have been delayed for brief seconds by that block and deflection. Whether it was focus that did it or not, he did get the blade by the teeth. But that didn't stop her from her dirty antics. She was stronger than Xion ever was and it showed- as not only did she not seem effected by the technique but she was now bearing a fist towards his gut.
In the meantime, her own remaining nobodies pursued the ones that had gone to help their comrade, now seizing a three on three melee.]
Yeah. He's still gonna fight this to the end. You know how Roxae(?) are about joker fights.
Not eager to let her potentially reverse his plot, he released his grip on Aubade prompting it to vanish in a flash. The fist would present another problem, but one that his new-found focus would allow him to evade. An evasion that he followed by Gliding off at full speed.
Soulless, heartless and just remnants of will, he still felt some degree of guilt wondering what kind of fates the Samurai he'd summoned suffered. Clear of his opponent for now, he made a dive toward the downed Xion, seeing his lone champion valiantly fending off the assault of three others.
Personal intervention proved to be the best answer as he dove into the melee. With his Keyblade appearing in a flash, he cut the first of the Sorized Xion's down in an instant. His empty hand immediately reached out and seized one of the fallen Nobody's swords while the other was left standing blade-down into the ground.
Hoping to end this skirmish before his true foe could catch up to him, he deftly swept the feet out from the second before impaling it neatly with his Keyblade. In the shock of the situation, his remaining fought with similar conviction... or at least memory of conviction and cut down the last of the other lesser Nobodies.
Leaving Roxas to take up a defensive stance near his friend and the Samurai he'd left to defend her, Keyblade in one hand and sword in the other. He stood there amidst the slightly less than half-dozen or so blades that remained almost like grave markers; the proof of existence to the wills that ultimately were pawns in a greater war. It was particular moments like this that he'd wished he could recall the weapon he'd loaned to his enemy, but it seemed that now it recognized that monster as its master. And he really could not disrupt his concentration to fight a battle of wills against some thing that had already proven he wasn't a match for.
Yes. This was a losing battle. And he was determined that if he was going to go down, it was his choice -his will that he go down fighting. And if there were any justice in the world, whatever afterlife there was for traitors like him, he'd take that Xion with him.]
True that, I suppose.
It's just not in his nature to throw in the towel when he has reason to keep pushing
He can be pretty damned stubborn, I'll give you that.
But it's one of the reasons that make him a great muse to have.
In some ways, yes.
One of the reasons I'm fond of him anyway.
MAKES IT HARD TO GET PAST A PLOT THOUGH. DFOUDSFH F-FFFF.
Maybe you should structure your plots a little more openly. Just suggesting.
Perhaps. But usually when I can actually think of a plot for once, I feel compelled to follow it.
Talking tiemz
And confusion times apparently.
Time to see how this resolves itself.
Pretty much.
