[in a hallway just off the main area, Kai seems to have fallen. one hand is against the wall, nails almost digging into it. his other hand is pressed against his forehead, and he's curled over himself on his knees. his face isn't very visible, but he looks pained and like he's concentrating on something, eyes squeezed shut and teeth gritted.]

(ooc: Meditation didn't settle completely, he's trying to sort his memories. Go ahead and startle him, and prepare for massive amounts of confusion. 8D)

[She could understand that. She's not trying to put any space between them, either, feeling pretty protective right about now. Once they're well into the room and on their way to the kitchen-]

[bows his head a little.]

[Shakes her head - she won't say it's alright, because it's not, but it's not like he's doing it on purpose. Leads him into the kitchen so they can sit down.]

[looks around the kitchen, hoping something will seem familiar. but nothing does and he sits down, sighing.]

[Good, sit. She's just gonna pace around for a bit.]

Okay...

[lets his head thump against the table.]

I want to go home.

[Stops pacing to lean against the counter, arms crossed.]

... I know you don't remember any of this, but you've been here... a long time.

[looks back up at her.]

How long?

... A while. But I don't think it's you, exactly.

[How to put this...]

I don't get it.

I think you're... In a way, you're a Kai, in the body of a different Kai. One that I know, that has his memories and yours.

[Frowns down at the floor. She's call bodyswap, but he doesn't feel any different. He'd feel different if that were the case, right?]

Only the wrong set's taken over.

So I'm... not really here, I just think I'm here because the person who owns this body has my memories along with his own?

[bzuh.]

[Scratches the back of her head.]

Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe you swapped bodies completely. I wouldn't be surprised, with how much this place does to you.

At least if he's got my memories he won't freak out about waking up on a spaceship, if that's really the case.

[looks curious though.]

This place does a lot of stuff to him?

[Breathes out a laugh that's more frustration than humor.]

A lot.

[aw, sadface.]

That's too bad.

[Just... shakes her head, walking over, but not saying anything yet. She's deep in thought trying to figure out how to fix this.]

[watches her quietly, then, absently searching his pockets to see what the other Kai keeps in them. when his fingers touch a paintbrush though, he pulls it out and stares at it.]

...he can use the brush techniques?

-- Yeah. But I don't know how much. It's all about your memories.

[Pause.]

He didn't always have this.

[paints a circle in the air, kind of surprised at how easily the flower appears and floats down to the table.]

Will you tell me about him?

[Looks at him, because she's not sure how.]

What do you want to know?

...I don't know. Anything you can tell me. He knows everything about me, right? Since he has my memories... I want to know about him, too.

[Frowns. Riku really wants to believe it's just a memory problem, because that would definitely be easier to fix. Either way, she sits down, leaning on her elbows.]

I don't know what to tell you. He's been here over a year.

Over a year... d'you know what month?

[... Nods.]
