[He should still be in bed. He's still recovering from having Ven's heart ripped out of his chest, and most of his light with it, but a certain encounter has left him pushing his limits to a dangerous degree. So right now, he's in the simulation room, pounding through whatever enemies it'll feed him. Even when he feels like he should probably collapse, should probably crawl back in bed.

All that matters right now is he disappointed his father, and he needs to become stronger so he doesn't do it again. Even as he collapses and the simulation shuts down, and he shakes, he just wants to get up and do more.]

[Sora will avert his eyes now.]

...I talked to Dad.

Wha-- you went home and came back that fast?

No. He was here.

[...He just doesn't know it's not his Ansem.]

... are you sure he was really your dad? There's more than one Ansem here, you know. One is a woman.

He was a guy, and he was using Riku. But he talked just like Dad, said the same things to me he would.

[He'll pull his knees to his chest now. He hates it--that he feels like he's disappointed his father.]

...I need to get better, fast. I need to be better than Riku.

[hold Ri has to think a bit, putting that description together, and when it clicks, he scowls]

Oh. That guy. He's an asshole. And he's not really Ansem. He's definitely not your dad.

But he smelled and looked just like him.

[But if it's not really his dad, then he may know someone whose ass he needs to kick. ~~Like that'll happen, he'll automatically become obedient at any sign of Ansem.~~]

Yeah, I know. But he's actually just an asshole with an Ansem along for the ride. I've met him before, and he bullied my son. He knows I dislike him, so picks on people close to me to make me angry.

[Ri carries grudges for a very very long time]

I don't think he knew I was training under you. I definitely didn't mention you.

[...And now that he's feeling a bit less like he disappointed his dad, he's going to let his exhaustion show. ...Yeah, he should probably still be in bed.]

He's an asshole and a troll. You have my permission to kick his ass. Or get me so I can do it. I haven't beat on him in awhile. He's a coward and runs away before I ever get to really fight him.

[Ri is cranky about this whole situation though now that Sora is being more vulnerable, he'll be quick to hustle him back to bed]

[Fine, fine. You better believe he's leaning on you, because standing is hard right now after all of that.]

We'll see. I'm not in any shape to do much of anything right now.

[he can support Sora easily and doesn't mind at all... but that's no protection from snark]

That's because you were stupid and trained before you should have. I gave you a few weeks off for a reason.

[And yeah. That's a sincere apology, too.]

You shouldn't be. It's stupid. Here's a secret: no matter how hard you train, how good you are, there's always going to be someone out there stronger than you. And there's nothing wrong with that. The sooner you can get that part through your head, the better a fighter you'll be.

...That's not what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid of being replaced, and...

[Of not being needed or wanted.]

Ah. That's something every kid deals with, I suppose. But if your dad cares about you, he wouldn't do that so easily.

[Ri gives Sora's hair a little ruffle]

...I don't think other kids have it as bad as me.

[Abandonment issues are huge with him. Either way, his apartment isn't too far, so. They should be there soon.]

You'd be surprised what other people have been through.

[Ri's like the king of issues after all]

When they get to the apartment, it's obvious what the set-up has been for Sora. He'd found a pull-out couch and has been using it so he has something to do.]

Movies and books, huh? I guess it can be boring to be stuck in bed all day. I know they practically have to tie me down when I get hurt that bad.

Yeah. I can't just sleep all the time.

[He'll pull away from Ri and go flop on the pulled out bed, face down in the pillows.]

I guess this sets me back awhile, huh?

You bet. But if you're a good boy and heal like I told you to, then I might be able to come up with something to entertain you.

[He'll roll over and sit up now.]
