[He should still be in bed. He's still recovering from having Ven's heart ripped out of his chest, and most of his light with it, but a certain encounter has left him pushing his limits to a dangerous degree. So right now, he's in the simulation room, pounding through whatever enemies it'll feed him. Even when he feels like he should probably collapse, should probably crawl back in bed.

All that matters right now is he disappointed his father, and he needs to become stronger so he doesn't do it again. Even as he collapses and the simulation shuts down, and he shakes, he just wants to get up and do more.]

I don't think he knew I was training under you. I definitely didn't mention you.

He's an asshole and a troll. You have my permission to kick his ass. Or get me so I can do it. I haven't beat on him in awhile. He's a coward and runs away before I ever get to really fight him.

[Ri is cranky about this whole situation though now that Sora is being more vulnerable, he'll be quick to hustle him back to bed]

You shouldn't be. It's stupid. Here's a secret: no matter how hard you train, how good you are, there's always going to be someone out there stronger than you. And there's nothing wrong with that. The sooner you can get that part through your head, the better a fighter you'll be.

...That's not what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid of being replaced, and...

Ah. That's something every kid deals with, I suppose. But if your dad cares about you, he wouldn't do that so easily.

[Ri gives Sora's hair a little ruffle]

...I don't think other kids have it as bad as me.

[Abandonment issues are huge with him. Either way, his apartment isn't too far, so. They should be there soon.]

When they get to the apartment, it's obvious what the set-up has been for Sora. He'd found a pull-out couch and has been using it so he has something to do.]

Movies and books, huh? I guess it can be boring to be stuck in bed all day. I know they practically have to tie me down when I get hurt that bad.

Yeah. I can't just sleep all the time.

[He'll pull away from Ri and go flop on the pulled out bed, face down in the pillows.]

I guess this sets me back awhile, huh?

You bet. But if you're a good boy and heal like I told you to, then I might be able to come up with something to entertain you.

[He'll roll over and sit up now.]

[Okay, he's going to duck his head. Forgive himself? ...Ri, why are you so nice to him? Totally not trying to wipe a few tears away.]

[because he's awesome like that, and it's true; he'll put a comforting hand on Sora's shoulder]

Sora's gonna just stay like this, because this is... Strange and completely different from his relationship with his dad, and yet this is... Very nice.]

[Ri: Providing Good Parental Relationships One Kid At a Time... he doesn't mind and might even drape his arm loosely around Sora's shoulders until he's ready]

[Sora needs it, and Ri is far better than Ansem. Also, leaning on Ri now, because this is... Not something he's had very often since being adopted by Ansem. Physical affection beyond headpats is not a thing for Dad.]

[Sora is lucky that Ri is big on giving hugs to those he cares about, so he really doesn't mind at all; besides, Sora is the kind of kid who needs lots of hugs]
