[dated to Sunday morning! because most of this stuff wouldn't be happening at night. it's an overcast morning, and chilly enough that there could be snow if those clouds get any heavier!

prince_number_7 is heading home with a small bag, having gone out to grab a few things quickly. the bag contains a few things from what looks like a hair salon.

shellsandlight is seated in the park, looking a bit underdressed considering the temperature. he doesn't seem very bothered by the cold (living at the bottom of an ocean means having to deal with it, after all), and is currently enjoying a variety of candies that are likely to make him end up sick, more from the rate at which he is consuming them than for their contents.

fadedsketch is having a bit of difficulty pushing a fair-sized "portable" generator down the street. he's heading for his naga friend's den, wanting to give him something to power the electric heaters he's going to be bringing by as well at a slightly later date. he's already brought no doubt dozens of blankets by now.

paopuspirit is stringing tinsel garlands around the old paopu tree near the beach. it's already had some lights strung around it, all the way up to the leaves. how he managed to get it up so neatly is a mystery however.

cheeryskies has just entered the library, a bag slung over her shoulder. she seems set for a day indoors, just reading!

beforeitburned has found his way to an outdoor ice rink that he's never noticed before. there are cubbies full of skates of every size near it, and he's given into a sudden, overwhelming urge to try skating.

[She just grins smugly and follows along beside him. Shouldn't be hard to find a place to get things to draw, right?

Worse comes to worse, if they get desperate, they could use blood--]

[if nothing else they should be able to find simple stationary and a pen or pencil in a basic corner store or something!]

[he'll follow after, and just sort of balk at all the aisles. the place seems pretty cluttered.]

Is this a storage?

[Seriously. She's going to step further ahead of him to investigate the little things that could be found near the cash register. Humans are so messy.]

It sort of looks like one.

[they really are. why not use boxes or something at least? jeez!!]

[Why not proper aisles and shelving instead of lining the junk up on the ground? Trolls are clearly superior. Onward!]

What is the point in all this?

[there's so much variety but it all looks so cheap.]

[Oops she just knocked over a stand.]

[he winces a little at the noise, but promptly gets distracted by a glimpse of a wall full of electronics. he's drifting thataway now.]

[She'll be distracted for a few minutes, then abruptly notice that he's wandered off and move to follow him.]

What'd you find?

It's all so... inorganic...

[considering Alternia electronics seem to be generally organic-based structures, seeing all this metal in vaguely familiar shapes is just strange.]

[She nods, reaching out to pick up something. Whatever she finds first.]

It seems like most of human life involves artificiality.

[what if she grabbed a knock-off tomogachi.]

[Perfect. Is it packaged. It doesn't matter if it is, she'll be opening it.

Maybe with her teeth. Fucking plastic.]

What is that?

[he's picked himself up a really shitty cd walkman thing, looking toward the little handheld device Riku's acquired.]

I'm not sure.

[She gets it open and activated and squints down at it, then holds it up for him to look at.]

[he tilts his head a bit as he examines it, confused.]

I don't understand... is it some sort of artificial life?

I guess so.

[She looks like she's considering taking it apart.]

Maybe we should have gotten something to hold stuff in.

[he sees that look. knows it. is wondering if he should grab one of those basket things from the front and pile electronics into it.]

Maybe.
