[in a hallway just off the main area, Kai seems to have fallen. one hand is against the wall, nails almost digging into it. his other hand is pressed against his forehead, and he's curled over himself on his knees. his face isn't very visible, but he looks pained and like he's concentrating on something, eyes squeezed shut and teeth gritted.]

(ooc: Meditation didn't settle completely, he's trying to sort his memories. Go ahead and startle him, and prepare for massive amounts of confusion. 8D)

[eventually he stops clutching at the wall so hard, hand sliding down it a bit as he opens his eyes slowly, staring at Apricot.]

...what just happened...

[brushes some hair out of Kai's face.]

I dunno, you tell me. I was just coming to find you, you've been gone a bit longer than you usually are for meditating.

[straightens slowly, looking at Axel in confusion.]

Meditating?

[ . . .ojeez. is familar enough with the double memories thing and how Kai deals with sorting them out to guess what's probably happened. takes Kai's face in his hands, studying him carefully.]

Where's the last place you remember being?

...here, of course. On the ship.

[he frowns, not understanding why Axel would ask that.]

[ . . .and that's the extent of what he knows to do about this. :|;; sighs heavily, plopping back to sit on the floor next to him.]

Kai, we're... we're not on the ship. But it's alright, this is a pretty safe place.

[blinks at him, confused. after a moment he realizes that yeah, these aren't Destiny's walls.]

Then where are we?

[...and why does it feel like- WHY IS MY RING GONE brb staring at his hand and looking vaguely panicked.]

[hesitates, unsure of whether or not he should try to help Kai sort things out in his head, or just treat him like a newcomer to the DR and hope it happens eventually on its own. takes his hand, to distract him a little.]

You're sure you don't remember anything else? None of this looks familiar to you?

[has different scars, also, just to help with the confusion.]

[shakes his head a little, taking in Axel's scars in confusion.]

When did those happen...?

[takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly, carefully wording what to say before he says it.]

Kai... this is the dressing room. It's a crossroads, like the Room was, but with a lot more doubles and weird versions of people, and a lot bigger. You've been here for about a year and a half, and I showed up here almost a year ago. There was, or is, a physical manifestation of the Voice, here in the DR, and it linked you and the version of you that was still in the Room and is now on the ship, so that you've been getting all of his memories. I know all about the ship and what's happened to everyone there, because you've told me about it. [though the rings hadn't been mentioned. :< ] You had gone to meditate today like you usually do to straighten the memories out, and I'm guessing they got mixed up somewhere, which is why you're confused.

But... what? How-

[this is so confusing. and making his head hurt.]

That explains... why I don't have my ring... or Ammy's necklace.

[nods, looking sad.]

Yes, love. You haven't even swapped places physically, you've just latched onto his memories for now. And I don't know what to do to help you, apart from waiting it out. We could go see if anything around the DR jogs your memory, I guess.

That's... that's probably a good idea.

[swallows, brows furrowing. the idea of... all of this is really, really unsettling.]

[gets to his feet again, offering a hand to help Kai up.]

We can go back to our room first. That's as good a place as any to start.

O...okay.

[takes his hand, feeling rather uncomfortable without his necklace or ring.]

[leans over to scoop the bunny up under his arm, and then leads the way down the hall.]

So tell me about this ring you mentioned.

Um...

[a little embarrassed about it, since this Axel clearly doesn't know about it.]

When you went down to help Sora on your guys' world, you picked up some rings... I didn't find out about them until you were in the hospital and slipped mine on me while I was sleeping.

That sounds awfully inspired of me. You're sure it was me and not my evil twin?

[grins at him, teasing.]

[grins a little in return, though he ducks his head.]

Positive.

[derp room get; they weren't that far from it. disarms the traps and opens the door.]

I might have to steal that idea, then. There has to be somewhere around here where I could find that sort of thing.

[sets Apricot down inside the door, nudging him with a foot to get him to go in.]

I'm sure he'd like it.

[peeks into the room curiously.]

[has to think about this, then, along with _______ that he's been considering for a while now. C: leads him into their slightly messy room, with the hyena backpack hanging from a lamp, Axel's chakrams resting against the side of the desk, clothes scattered everywhere, lube sitting out on the bedside table, etc. looks at him hopefully.]

[he just looks around the room. it's a nice room to be sure, but it's not familiar, which would be why he's giving Axel a helpless look.]

[slumps a little, but smiles at him.]

Hey, don't worry, we'll figure something out. Even if that something ends up being just waiting it out, at least you're safe here. D'you want to go somewhere else now, orrr...?

I know we will. And I think I'd rather stay here for now...
