Depends on what you're playing. Generally the analog stick and D-pad are for movement, and the buttons are actions.

I have no idea. I still don't even know what these are.

Nope. Well, games, but nothing like this...

Oh. Well, would you like to play? The Wii is pretty good for new gamers.

Here, try holding this. The controls are different than other systems, but a lot of nongamers are getting into it. Might be a good place to start.

Alright, let's see... You can try one of the Wii Sports games, or maybe Brawl would be better.
