[ There's a perfectly ordinary hallway that branches off from one of the main, leading to a downward staircase. If one were to walk down, they would notice how the walls and stairs themselves are decaying, changing as the steps go down from the regular floors and ordinary wood to stone. It leads down, not too far, to a long series of underground tunnels. Mostly man-made, but with natural formations as well. The sound of water running can be heard to the left and loud, scraping footsteps to the right. Which direction would you take? ]

[She nearly bumps into Riku at the sudden stopping, but avoids it in favor of peering around her.]

...What is it?

[dawnrise]

[She doesn't move at first, then she tilts her head up and breathes in as a figure steps into the light. It certainly looks human. In shape, anyway. Its face is perfectly smooth and devoid of features, its clothes black and indistinct.]

[frostedwaters]

[It takes a lot of willpower for Kairi to keep from drawing back at the sight of it. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem friendly.]

[dawnrise]

[It definitely isn't. It barely moves, its head turning slightly from side to side, from Riku to Kairi. It seems to be having trouble deciding.]

[frostedwaters]

[WHen she speaks, it's in a hushed voice.]

Riku... what is that?

[dawnrise]

[The creature's head jerks to Kairi, and then to Riku when she speaks.]

I don't know.

[frostedwaters]

Maybe we should just leave it be.

[She's really not up to fighting for the sake of "you're creepy and I'm taking you down".]

[dawnrise]

Maybe.

[She makes a move to push Kairi back gently, to get her to back up, and the creature zeroes in on Riku and then... shapeshifts into an exactly copy.]

[frostedwaters]

[She backs up slowly, avoiding sudden movements- that is, until the thing changes into Riku. That startles her enough to let the temperature slip just a bit.]

[dawnrise]

[Riku breathes out hard, and the thing in front of them summons a Keyblade of her own and launches at them. Riku thinks this is a good time for a shield. Yes.]

[frostedwaters]

[Kairis instinct is to backstep away, and that shield is most helpful. She draws icicles up from the floor, intending on at least impeding its movement if none of them hit.]

[dawnrise]

[The shield's enough to hold back the blade, for sure, but Riku calls up her own (not doppelganger version!) of Way to Dawn once she drops the shield. For the moment the ice is much more helpful, because it does send it back. That's not going to stop it, though.]

[frostedwaters]

[In that case, water it is. Fast, hard-hitting blasts of it, flowing as Kairi directs it, in an attempted to knock the thing off balance. Maybe you'll have better luck, Riku.]

[dawnrise]

[That should send it tumbling for a while. Riku looks uncertain about this whole thing, on defense so far.]

Fight or run?

[frostedwaters]

We should probably make sure it doesn't go running around looking like you.

[She's up for a fight if necessary!]

[dawnrise]

Good point.

[Speaking of, her double is going to be really pissed about that water, and will concentrate on Kairi once she's able.]

[frostedwaters]

[Bring it on, doppleganger! --would it be wrong to call it a replica? Either way, Kairi takes a deep breath before lowering the temperature more. It's a significant amount, cold enough to see your breath, and it gives her ice attacks an edge.]

[dawnrise]

[Riku (the real one!) would rather have her replica twice over than whatever the hell this thing is. She shivers at the cold, but just raises her weapon and rushes the stupid thing. The cold won't help her any, but not being soaked with water she's definitely better off than the double.]

[frostedwaters]

[Sorry about that, real-Riku! Hopefully it's worth the advantage- especially when that advantage is trying to slow the fake-Riku down by freezing over the parts that are wet.]

[dawnrise]

[Nah, she has experience fighting in extreme temperatures. That doesn't mean she enjoys it, though. The doppelganger has copied not only Riku's appearance but her skills, as well. If she wasn't slowly freezing, she would have no trouble at all in blocking Riku's attacks.]

[All the more reason to make sure Riku can win this fight. Kairi stays where she is and just continues to let the ice spread; she'd rather stay out of the real Riku's way on this one.]

[The real Riku appreciates it. The double, not so much. She's starting to look kind of pissed off, actually, because her plan isn't working. She goes still as their blades clash, each putting pressure on the other. Maybe she'll go for a retreat.]

[If not, she can deal with more icicles. Go take your face-stealing-shenanigans elsewhere.]

[dawnrise]

[Fleeing sounds like a better route to take! She gives an inhuman shriek when more ice hits her and turns to do so! The real Riku will take up chase, at least for now.]
