[There's a place that looks awfully like Castle Oblivion, here. And a rather confused looking white-haired boy stepping into it, out of a room full of the sounds of wild falling waters. He turns, looking back the way he came, yelling back-]

Grandfather? Terra? Can you see this? I-

[Peek in. Peek out. Rub his head. Something's wrong - something's very wrong. But he'd just stepped from home, with his grandfather-namesake and his older brother and all his family, to out here, and that isn't something that's supposed to happen. You don't just - step out of the world. Not out of somewhere you're meant to fit in.

Still, curiosity's built into Xehanort almost by definition. Muttering directions under his breath to make sure things are okay, he heads onwards, through the shining white corridors... because he's going to get to the bottom of this.

The fact that he never had a grandfather or a brother in that sense isn't occurring to him right now.
Nor is the fact that the room's changing behind him.]

They aren't in the picture anymore.

[His face falls. More sad news, as he sees it.]

... okay. I guess.

It's you or no one now. And I gotta say the worlds are probably better off not falling to darkness.

[He nods.]

I suppose I was always taught that. ... Or I remember being taught it. It's what we're around for, keeping the balance. It's just kind of strange knowing that it - came true.

The worlds can't stay safe forever. Even if we want 'em to.

[Another slow nod at that - he looks at his key and dismisses it for the moment. Almost rhetorically-]

But why?

Why the Heartless?

Why any of it, I guess.

I wish I knew, kid. But I haven't got all the answers.

[He gives a nod.]

Is there anything else that I should know?

Nah, I think that oughtta be good for now.

Heh. Alright. [A weak laugh-] I'm not sure what else I'd want to ask.
Well... I'm not sure what other answers I want to hear. And I guess I don't say that a lot.

The memories have to still be in there somewhere. So I guess if something's really bugging you, come ask me?

[Slowly, he nods.]

I will.

You know where to find me.

[With an eyebrow raised-] Actually, I don't?

How do you usually find me, kid?

It feels like you usually find me. [He laughs a bit, then calms down.] Is that still something that happens?

You got it.

Well, that's good to know.

Of course it is!

[He smiles.

Idly, he calls up one last memory on the mirrors, for as long as it lasts: one last happy vision of how things could have been. As ever, it fragments and dies, and he sighs softly.]

[Braig doesn't say anything. There's he can say that would make anything better. Not when the world's already so horrible.]

... Come on. Let's get out of here.

You got it.

[And with that, Braig turns towards the door.]
