Aaa why am I doing this

[How goes your day, DR residents? Hopefully it's going better than this guy's day is...actually, it probably is.

'This guy' is a Riku-looking person who just arrived near the apartments. He doesn't look too strange--he's wearing a long zip-up t-shirt with a shorter sleeveless vest over it, baggy pants with a ridiculous amount of pockets, and sandals. The unusual part is the length of chain hanging from his neck, attached to a cloth-looking collar.

He's currently attempting to tie the chain in knots out of sheer panic. He's visibly worried, glancing around frantically, looking for the people he's really not supposed to be be away from.]

Riku, where the hell did you leave me this time? This isn't funny.

My name is Namine. You probably have met some version of me before, but just cant remember it.

Naminé. Nice to meet you again, I guess.

[He manages a small smile himself.]

I'd give you my name, but I don't really have one.

Nice to meet you too.

[Tilts her head again. Again, this is curious.]

Actually, you do. I just think that you've forgotten that as well. I can sense your Heart. I believe your name, is Riku.

[He shakes his head.]

No, I'm not. Riku is the one I look like. I'm just a...a replica.

[She frowns at that. Who told him that? Okay, she's going to have to find out more if she wants to help him now.]

No. Your Heart is a Riku's Heart. You're not a Replica. I'm sure of it.

[She has to wonder why a Namine would change his memories like this.]

[You can blame the actual Replica for that.]

My heart...? How can you tell? And if I'm Riku, does that mean that Riku is a Replica instead?

It doesn't make sense.

[This is the first time he can remember being basically being told that his life is a complete lie. He's having a little trouble wrapping his head around it.]

[That's understandable. But she thinks that he should know the truth.]

Your memories have been altered. I, and other versions of me, have power over the chains of memories within people's Hearts. My guess is that the Namine from your world changed your memories. I'm not sure why though. Probably something to do with your Replica.

[Considering that he was told that he was a Replica, it's not too hard to guess that the real Replica would be pretending to be the real Riku.]

[He doesn't want to know the truth. So far, the truth sucks.]

So, another version of you messed with my head? I don't know who to believe anymore. You, Riku, Ansem...someone's lying.

[He doesn't even trust his own memories anymore, even though they're the only thing he really as to rely on as 'true'.]

But if you're not the one telling the truth, can you fix my memories?

[Ansem?! Well, that explains a bit.

She nods.]

I can, try. It might take some time though, since I wasn't the one who tampered with them in the first place. I have to figure out exactly what she did so that I can fix it. But, if I can, then I'd be happy to help you.

[He gives her a small, somewhat forced smile. Inside, he's feeling like he'd rather hit something, confused and frustrated.]

[Smiles back.]

I'll let you know if there's anything you can do to help. But for now, we should find you some place to stay. The apartments are just over here.

Are apartments like hotel rooms? I've never lived in one, but Ri...Riku was talking about getting one instead of living in hotels.

[He hesitates on saying the name 'Riku', still unable to apply the name to himself instead of the Replica.]

Kinda, yeah. But you don't have to pay for them. Pretty much everything in this place is free. One of it's good points I guess, to make up for some of the bad ones.

An apartment will have a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, pretty much all you'll need. And if it's not what you want, you might be able to find an empty house around that you can take instead.

I don't know what I'd do with a whole house to myself.

[Probably live in like, half of it. Because what use is, say, a living room if one never has company?]

Apartment then?

[She's pretty much the same. She doesn't really need a lot of room. Just places to put her art.]

Definitely.

[Preferably an apartment near her because she's currently the best person in the world to him.]

[She wants to keep an eye on him anyway to make sure he adjusts well to everything. He's gone through a lot after all. So she'll probably suggest one close by to hers anyway.]

Alright. Follow me.

[And she'll start leading the way.]

[He'll adjust by hiding in his room and only coming out to hang out in the kitchens. Or the DR, in it's infinite capacity to care about it's inhabitants, will make him go outside somehow.]

[At least the apartments aren't too far away. They should get there in no time. Now it's just a matter of finding one that Riku likes.]

[Riku doesn't really have a preference. He'll probably pick one of the first ones he finds. But first, how to apartment. This is actually more of a matter of how to operate dressing room than anything else.]

So, am I just supposed to pick one that isn't occupied already?

Pretty much. And if there's something missing there, you can usually find anything you need in the shops back in town.

[He nods. He can operate shops just fine, especially if stuff is free. At least he doesn't have to worry about munny.]

That doesn't sound too hard.

[Riku has no idea what kind of apartment he's looking for. He's just going to open doors and peek in them until he finds one he likes. That's not occupied, of course.]

It's not. This place can be pretty nice once you get used to all the weirdness.

Oh, speaking of which, another thing I should warn you about; sometimes this place will throw a spell at everyone. The effects vary but it rarely lasts for longer than a few days.

[Nice pick. Her room is just down the hall. She'll be able to keep an eye on him. ^^]

[Brb, poking head into this apartment to see if it's actually unoccupied. It is.]

Spells? Like Fire and Blizzard and stuff like that?

[~~Trauma buttons the mun can push? 8D I mean...~~Your warning confuses Riku.]

[Ooh. Nice apartment. She approves.]

No, more like the kind of magic spells you hear about in stories. Like, turning into animals, sometimes changing your memories or powers for a day. Sometimes people even change gender. But it's never permanent. Just something that happens every now and then to shake things up a bit. This place isn't too fond of normal.
