[The older Ri is currently scouting out the new areas of the DR, making note of which places are safe and which should be avoided, especially by small children. All in all, it's been a quiet sort of past couple weeks, and he's glad of it. That doesn't mean he's let his guard down, but his eyes aren't a burning gold color either, so that's a plus. Why don't you make some small talk with him?]

[that's a good thing, because he was about to get pouty! Sora leans across the gap to put a big giggle-inducing kiss on Rikka's cheek, before hefting Kira and giving her sugar too]

[someone is still suspicious of cupcakes because of Incidents over the years]

Yes, cupcakes.

[he says it a little impatiently]

You know how I feel about cupcakes. Even if they're made with love.

Well, you don't have to eat them then! Honestly, Ri. Do you really think I'd give my own kids sweets that would bite back?

Of course not! It's just that I don't trust the cupcakes. They're crafty, you know.

My cupcakes have never been sentient before. I know what goes into them.

I know that. But the other cupcakes might try to hide in the crowd. Like how I got attacked by them that one Easter.

[and he thought carrot cake would be vegetarian, but he was wrong]

I can handle my baked goods, Ri. Don't worry about it, really.

[sounds rather exasperated with this conversation, and really doesn't want to throw out his two dozen funfetti cupcakes]

... is there frosting left?

[you know funfetti out of the tub is one of his favorite things]

Yes, but it's rainbow chip and not funfetti. I ran out of those little sprinkles.

[Kira has fallen asleep on his shoulder and he smiles at how cute she is]

I suppose I can suffer the lack of little sprinkles.

[he gives Rikka a little bounce so he's not ignored]

Well I should hope so!

[it isn't too much more of a walk from here, so he's rather mentally preparing himself]

Frosting is always tasty.

[why are you so moody and weird all of a sudden]

[because. oh look, we are home. let's go inside!]

[well he'll head for Rikka's room, and get him all comfy and ready for naptime]

My baby bear is gonna have a good nap, right?

[Rikka yawns cutely, and beams up at you, clinging for more kisses and hugs]

[meanwhile, Sora is doing the same for Kira, smiling as he covers her with a light blanket, and her cheeks in kisses]

I love you, Kira. Please have sweet dreams.

[and he lingers for a few moments to sing to her and make sure her cute little star lamp is shining strong before pulling her door nearly closed]

[he gives Rikka some more sugar and a good cuddle before tucking him in]

Sleepybye now, baby bear.

No! No nap!

[Rikka pouts heavily, and Sora comes in to see what the fuss is about]

[Ri is sitting on the edge of the bed, trying to calm Rikka down]

But doesn't Rikka want to be big and strong? He has to take naps if he wants to be strong.

[takes a seat himself next to Rikka and brushes his hair out of his face with a warm hand]

Besides, if Rikka takes a nice nap before dinner, he can have an extra special story for bedtime tonight.

[Rikka pouts for a minute, because naps are bad enough without thinking of bedtime, but he's been very busy today, and the warmth of the soft covers and the soft, comforting smell of Kitty's fur is a sure lull for him. he settles down a bit with Mama's petting, but he puts his tiny hands on both of yours so you don't leave just yet.]
