[Momxene is a woman on a mission.

What with the trouble she's had with a certain vampire recently, she's finally started looking for ways to protect herself. In particular, she wants to keep him out of her head, but she wouldn't complain about being able to hurt him for real while she's at it.

So isn't it lucky, then, that the vampire room is still around? As before, it's stocked with goods both pro- and anti-vampire; it shouldn't be hard to guess which section she headed to. Akane's with her as well, but with so many weapons around Larx is keeping a close eye on her.

She left the door open, since she finally got ahold of a child-sized black coat for Akane in case they need to make a quick portal escape. Sneaking up on them isn't recommended, though, since Larxene will still attack first if startled. ~~which means you should totally sneak up on them~~]

Well... I'm not sure if it's the same with him, but when I try to read someone's thoughts, I've found that some people have a natural mental block that keeps me out.

[does he have her attention yet]

Yeah, and I obviously don't.

But you could work on getting one, which is why we're here. I want you to try to block me out. I promise I won't try to push farther than whatever is at the top of your mind- no memories, no trying to force you to do something you don't want to do. You can think of whatever you want, even if it doesn't make sense. Like.. like puppies and and teacups.

[he's talking fast, because he knows how touchy she is on the subject.]

[Her first impulse is to tell him where to shove it. But she knows she needs to learn...]

[It's hard to focus at first. He should pick up on something along the lines of: If this is a trap, I'll end him. Is he doing anything yet?...

She tries to hold an image of the biggest garden room in her mind then-- a view across it with a storm brewing overhead.

No, that's no good, last time I did that was when--]

[she should feel a bit of a nudge, something very light. Riku's watching her the same as he had before, though with a little more concentration. he won't pry for more of what her mental thoughts are rambling about.]

You're thinking of a garden.. and a storm. Do you feel me?

[Fear. A memory of Vampxel about to bite-]

Yeah.

[Pushing back the memories, she pictures a brick wall.]

[he blinks when she does that, his head tilting a bit. from his end of things he feels like he can actually see the wall, but it's old and crumbling, not very good. can she feel him prodding at it, looking for weak spots?]

The other vampire, he's an Axel?

[Get out!

How's that for an answer? She doesn't trust herself to maintain the block if she actually speaks, though.]

[he pulls away from her mentally, actually leaning back away in case she's truly as angry as that sounded.]

You don't need to yell.

I thought you weren't going to snoop.

I didn't, that was what I saw after the garden disappeared. Then all I saw was an old wall. It was okay, for a first try. Really.

[relaxes slightly. very slightly.]

I'll go again.

Maybe you should try thinking of something different this time, instead of a brick wall.

[How about the shifting interior of a Corridor of Darkness, then?]

The wall? No, it just didn't seem... right for you, somehow.

[he's not aware of what she's thinking of now, because he's waiting for her to give him permission first.]

[he's getting the feeling that she isn't used to people being so, well. polite. not that many have likely tried to get into her head, when it was an Axel he saw that once, with a distinct feeling of fear.]

Pretty much.

[closes her eyes to block out any distraction from the image.]

Here we go, then.

[he'll start concentrating again then, and when he comes up with the corridor at first he's surprised by the image. but what happens when he takes it seriously and starts to actually follow down its path?]

[she's not sure how to react to that, and he'll catch glimpses of things: just day-to-day stuff, memories from the past few days.

Once she's aware what he's doing, though, the corridor dissolves and the storm comes back. This time, it's that room she walked into once where it was raining indoors-- no bad memories attached to that.]

[he pulls back again when he senses the change, a little caught off-guard.]

I think.. you might have found it. What works for you, I mean. It wasn't the corridors, those just led me places in your mind.

[opens her eyes]

I noticed.

Do you think you can hold that storm up against someone really trying to get past it?

I'll find out, won't I?

[he'll wait for a cue from her that she's ready first, and then when she feels him in her mind he'll be more insistent on trying to push his way past that storm. not as much as he could be, but definitely enough to give her a challenge.]
