[ Soras are nothing unusual in this place. Soras with wings aren't unheard of, either, and there's no doubt that this place has seen at least one angelic being of his description, given the light that flows from them. This one literally appears out of nowhere - one moment there's nothing but air hanging over the furniture in the main room, and then, with one little flicker of light, there's a Sora sitting over the back of the couch, large, pure white wings hanging over the other side. He's swaying animatedly to a song only he can hear. ]

Mmhm. Maybe a couple someones.

Good, this place could use another babysitter.

[do you know how hard it is to try to keep so many people out of trouble.]

[He is here to lighten your load, Riku!]

I figured you wouldn't mind some company. Anything you want to tell me now?

This place is.. both better and worse than Earth. Many of the people are good, but the ones who are bad seem to go to the trouble of making up for what good there is.

[maybe with help from Sora, there will be less loose feathers in his bed.]

Got my work cut out for me, huh?

[He's excited, don't let him fool you. He's also hopeful about this making things easier on Riku. He's picking up one of those feathers now, in fact.]

[it's pretty ragged-looking at the base, and if Sora were to examine Riku's wings, there's still a few places where the feathers are thinned out more than they should be. there's more growing in, but not as fast as Riku would like.]

The Dark creatures here too.. they're different from what we're used to.

How?

[That can't be a good thing. He twirls the feather between his fingers, expression curious.]

They don't just corrupt... They kill, in an unnatural way. The closest I can describe it is that they seem to steal the souls from people. The "Heart" of a person.

[His hand stops moving in horror; he's staring at Riku now.]

That's horrible.

Light seems to be able to keep them at bay; however that won't stop more from taking their place. It seems impossible to pin down the source.

I think I can handle that.

[He's even more curious about this assignment now.]

That's good. They're called Heartless, by the way.

[Sora may have heard about how he's learned the hard way to differentiate between beings like the Heartless, and beings that happen to have Darkness in their hearts but aren't a danger to others.]

Heartless. That's... pretty telling.

[Yes, he's heard. He knew this would be some story before he came here.]

Yes. Be careful, okay?

[and not just with your charges. Riku knows perfectly well Sora's capable of protecting himself, but that doesn't mean he doesn't worry. he also isn't going to delve into the story of his past here unless Sora manages to pull it out of him.]

You're telling me?

[Sure, he's probably been a little risky a time or two when it came to his assignments, but... He'll be careful! Really! And he'll get it eventually, you bet.]

Yes, I am. I don't want to see you coming back with a wing bent out of shape because some human with a gun took you for a bird again.

[never mind that he was the one who once returned from a visit to Earth with singed feathers. getting too close to war zones can do that.]

...that was only once!

[He was distracted.]

You made Kairi worry.

[by something shiny? and by Kairi he means himself too. silently. oh look noogies--]

Not on purp- hey!

[That was his kicked puppy face before the noogie attack. Watch him flail.]

[Riku's grinning by the time he stops, having ruffled Sora's hair into even more disarray than usual.]

Oh, and you can hear prayers here louder too, when you listen. These humans truly do care for each other.

[Sora's torn between more puppy faces and grinning himself, but he doesn't stop flailing once. He doesn't even care that his hair's messed up, mostly because that distracts him, too. His eyes flicker away briefly, like he's testing it.]

That's not surprising, with this place.

It's a shame we can't grant most of them, when so many want to return to their worlds. Still sure you can handle it?

[that sounds like a challenge.]

Of course!

[He accepts your challenge. Though he's getting the that feeling it's going to be a lot tougher than anything else he's done.]

I thought you might say that.

[he's happy, though. having Sora here is like having a little piece of home here in his room.]

[It's close enough. He's grinning again, propped up on his elbows now. He is so excited.]
