[ In one of the forest rooms that doesn't see a lot of use, Riku's busying herself diligently tying a very thick rope around a very thick tree. She's having noticeable difficulty getting the knots as tight as she wants, which is strange, considering she's normally very good at it. But her hands are shaking abnormally hard. In fact, her entire body seems to be trembling from her head down to her toes - it's most noticeable in her hands and shoulders, but it's everywhere. The tree she's at is a good distance from the door, and her shaking is visible even from there.

She's wearing old, torn jeans and a sleeveless shirt and no shoes whatsoever, and she doesn't look very good even without the shaking. There's a strange pale tone to her face that looks unnatural, and her movements are jerky, like she's holding herself back. ]

[Make them just slightly loose? Hell if she knows, but she's not paying attention to that. She appears to have broken into a sudden sweat, and shifts her shoulders as much as she can against the tree.]

[He finishes off the final knot, tightening it and stepping back to watch.]

[This isn't much of a show. She's just moving against the ropes, trying to keep breathing normally before it really hits her.]

What are you going to do-- if I get loose again?

I've got a gun.

[With both tranquilizers and silver bullets in his jacket, since he's not sure if the tranqs would do the job.]

Could you do it again?

[She's dead serious about this. If he can't, she wants him to find someone else as a stand-by. She's kicking herself right now for not doing it before.]

[He pulls the case of tranquilizers from his pocket, popping it open so she can see what's in there.]

With luck, I won't have to.

That doesn't answer my question.

[Mid-way through that sentence her voice goes suddenly breathless with pain, and she's leaning forward as much as she can with the ropes keeping her bound.]

Yes.

[He would. If it was necessary, he'd do it.]

[Riku feels much better hearing him say that, and looks up at him from under her hair.]

Good.

[She'd elaborate, but now isn't the time. Now it's dark in the forest, and she lurches forward, gritting her teeth.]

[He's interested to see how exactly her transformation works, which is a good chunk of why he's sticking so close.]

[She doesn't really want him there. At all. It's taunting her, him being right there, and already she wants to go after him. She straightens back against the tree so fast her skull cracks against the bark. It doesn't seem to affect her at all, but then she's already writhing, breathing hard and shallow.]

[Well, more distance is being put in the worse she gets, and soon enough he slips out of the room for a moment to get that gun, loading it with a tranq as he heads back inside.]

[He's just in time to witness the way her bones start to break. They have to expand to make room for her larger size as a werewolf, and that means a lot of pain. She was probably moaning from it when he returned, but once her ribs crack open under her skin, and her limbs start to change shape and grow, she's screaming.]

[Good thing he's not squeamish. He settles a fair distance away to watch, gun in hand.]

[Hopefully he closed the door, because otherwise someone's going to think she's being murdered. Her skin has turned an ash-grey, and as her bones continue to change shape and her organs change to match, her muscles are also growing larger. It's not a pleasant image, and it's reached her face -- she opens her mouth on another scream only to reveal two rows of sharp teeth. Riku's skull will be the next thing to change, going in rapid pulses of change from human to wolf, and it's about at that point that there's going to be the first bit of strain on the ropes.]

[Of course he closed the door. You think he's stupid? And he doesn't look away, those his focus switches to the ropes once the transformation gets far enough to add in that strain.]

[No, of course not. That's just how loud she's getting. There isn't near enough pressure on the ropes to threaten their stability, it's just becoming obvious that they're going to be given one hell of a test. She's already starting to pull on them, though how she's doing that when her shoulders are expanding enough to rip through her shirt is anyone's guess. And don't forget her feet -- they've changed shape and gotten much longer too, her nails on both them and her hands turning into sharp claws. The first really wolfish sounds start when her face elongates, the screaming mixed heavily with deeper groans and a ferocious growling. As this is happening, her fur is finally starting to grow along her entire body.]

[Yep, definitely a fluffy wolf, Riku-- I mean. Honestly, this makes him almost uncomfortable. Sure, he's seen werewolves before, but this is Riku. And it's fear he likes, not pain or the noises that come with it.]

[He should have seen her that first full moon. She was absolutely terrified. You'd think with as much pain as she's going through she'd have passed out or something by now, but her body isn't letting that happen. He can't see it from this angle, but one of the worst parts was how her spine grew into a tail, pinned to the tree behind her. Her clothes are torn to pieces around her and held in place only by the ropes. Had her arms been free, she would have shredded them. Fortunately, it started fast, and it ends the same way as everything comes to completion at once. Those growls and screams break into a howl, and then she's done.]

[He's silent, hood up and eyes glowing under it. He won't take his eyes off her, and if even one rope snaps, he's shooting off a tranq.]

[She doesn't do anything at first, just leaning the full amount of her weight against the ropes, panting. Then her eyes focus on him and she bares her teeth, growling loudly.]

Yeah, grr to you, too.

[He's so scared, really. What would happen if he... idk did something to show she was ~alpha~ in the future.]

[She doesn't care right now if he's scared or not. The growling gets louder and more feral as her shoulders hunch up and she starts to pull on the ropes.

Something like what?]

[He doesn't do anything other than shift the gun in response.

Also fuck I don't know, there's not a whole lot he could do that wouldn't also put himself in eating distance.]

[She looks ready to rip into him. Is he having flashbacks yet? When she can't get the ropes loose immediately she starts to struggle and writhe against the tree, pulling tight on the ropes around her wrists and clawing into her upper thighs. Look, there's blood already.

This is very true. Her reaction would depend on what he did, though.]
