[in one of the garden rooms, it looks like someone decided to be an ass and completely trash a good portion of it. Kai is seated on a patch of fresh grass, surrounded by burnt and torn plants, paintbrush in hand. his right hand, what he normally uses, is in his lap. the paintbrush is in his left hand and he's concentrating rather hard on restoring the ruined flowers in front of him. it's difficult, as he's still getting used to using the "wrong" hand, and he fails to get the technique right a number of times before a couple of the flowers straighten weakly and attempts to bloom.]

I'm not afraid of him. I can handle myself.

[But she's hesitating again.]

Why don't you look for a way to fight him without being at risk? Isn't it important to you?

[he finally turns to look at her again, raising an eyebrow.]

You think I've just been sitting on my ass this entire time? I've been trying to find some way to get around this... wound transferring bullshit, but it's hard. What he's doing requires a whole lot more negative emotion than I'm even capable of creating. I can't sever the link, never mind pushing it back at him. I don't know what to do; all I can do right now is hope he stays low and hope no one tries to kill him while I'm anywhere nearby. I don't even know if distance really matters at all.

[She closes her eyes, voice wavering slightly.]

All I know is that I have to do something. I can't sit here and let it happen.

[After another moment, she turns to go.]

Maybe you'll be lucky and he'll just kill me. You'll be safe then.

[he closes his eyes, looking defeated.]

He doesn't kill. He just breaks.

Still, in your situation, that's what you'd want to happen, right?

No, it's not. I'd rather you didn't go at all, but if you have to, I'd rather it was me dying instead of what he'd do to you. It's easy to come back from death.

...It's okay. I probably won't win.

[And she seems all to comfortable with that.]

Then don't go after him. Do you even-

[he stops abruptly. she needs to know what she's getting into, he knows this. whether she still goes after him or not...]

He will beat you. He will find out every little detail about you from your body language and the way you speak, everything and anything you let slip will be used against you in the worst possible way. He will find that Riku that is so important to you and he will make sure you watch as he suffers, and then he will rape you and torture you until there is nothing left but an empty shell. But he'll do that to Riku first.

...You're trying to scare me away now with threats? You don't act very princely, you know.

[he's trying to scare her away from doing it, okay. he lets out a frustrated noise at that, throwing his hands up.]

Fine, I give up. I've told you what he does, and they're warnings, not threats. But fine, do whatever you want. I don't care anymore.

[which is a horrible, horrible lie; the guilt over not being able to stop her is already eating at him.]
