[there's a scream from down this hallway as some poor soul is consumed by the shadows -- not Heartless, simply moving shadows. as the last dying gurgle escapes the writhing mass, a figure rises out of it slowly, darkness rolling and dripping off him like smoke and water. the figure is fully dressed in dark leather; heavy boots, pants, and a lovely leather jacket with a black wifebeater beneath it. he breathes the darkness in, out, a slow and dangerous smile making its way onto his face as he takes in the sight of the hallway. a hand goes to his pocket, a cigarette is pulled out and put to his lips, lit with a flick of his other hand. he runs that hand through his dark blue hair afterward, red eyes bright with malicious intent.]

Well now... didja miss me, dressing room?

[...what, underneath us? :B encloses himself and Kai in a bubble of fire, hands outstretched and stance low to keep it going. his voice is tense and more than a little distracted.]

Kai, you have to snap out of it and help me here, you can do way more against him than I can.

[no, you doof, the spikes started following from ground level /should have been more specific. he stops again, standing outside the fire with his arms crossed. he looks way too smug right now.]

...right. R-Right, sorry.

[he's still keeping a very confused and freaked out bun to his chest, but he adds a shield of Light under the fire bubble, just so he can have a bit more time to shake himself out of it.]

[will wait a minute until Kai's got more of a grip on things before he drops the fire, mostly so they can see what Gem's up to. also wtf does Gem have to look smug about. not being able to hit them?]

[well, it probably gets even more confusing as he reaches out and places his hand firmly on the shield. there's a hiss of searing flesh from his hand for a moment...]

[and the shield abruptly drops as Kai screams, scrambling to let go of Apricot and move backwards, tears springing to his eyes as he holds his burnt hand out away from him to keep from catching it against his clothing.]

[manages to prioritize and leaps at Gem, wrestling him to the ground and pinning him there.]

Nice trick, sunshine. Lemme guess, if I kill you, he goes too, right?

[he is so incredibly smuuuug. and Kai will be in the background whimpering and trying to focus enough to heal that burn.]

If you kill me, he'll be the only one going. Of course, you could just kill me properly afterward.

[he'll show the hand he put on the shield; barely burned, and only because he took too long to force it toward Kai.]

Mm, yeah. Except that you obviously have to make a conscious effort to make him feel it instead of you, so I bet if I just bashed your skull in you wouldn't have time to do anything.

[is seriously considering knocking the fucker out and stringing him up next to Marluxia in the sealed room. :|a]

Oh, of course, except that it's still going right now. That was just a test run, you know~?

[besides, there's enough of "him" in the shadows that they can kind of think on their own; they'd just drag him down again.]

[spends a long moment trying to see some way out of this that doesn't involve Kai getting hurt more; can't figure anything out, and is obviously furious about it, but finally just lets out an exasperated sigh, expression relaxing as he does, and climbs off of Gem. he's just going to calmly go over to his lover now and check on that burnt hand, and you can go do whatever the fuck you want.]

[he is quite triumphant as he sinks away into the shadows again, leaving the two alone for now.]

[he's just sitting here crying, shaking as he tries to heal the burn. it's not working too well, and Gem was enough of a dick to make sure the burn happened on his dominant hand; no summoning his keyblade to cast a Cure on himself easier, as he can't concentrate to do it right now. he's not used to burns. slashing wounds he can deal with, even biting. things that break skin, not burn it.]

I-It hurts.

[up close, is not really very calm at all, just highly contained in his anger. he's trembling with fury when he crouches down next to Kai to look at the burn, but his face might as well be carved from stone.]

I know, love. Can you walk, or do you want me to carry you?

[he shakes his head a bit and tries to stand while keeping his hand away from anything. Apricot is looking pretty frightened, but he keeps trying to climb on Kai to see what's wrong.]

[helps him up, and then stoops to pick the bun up and tuck him under an arm so he can still support Kai while they head slowly out of the room and to the bathroom.]

[he's just going to... walk silently, save for the occasional hiccup or sniffle from crying. whoo, shock setting in.]

[herds Kai into the bathroom once they get there, guiding him to sit on the closed toilet, and then silently gathering what he needs to take care of the wound. he'll have to take some things with him back to their room so that Kai can rest properly while it's being taken care of, but he can do the first parts here. Apricot's getting set on the floor somewhere in there.]

[Apricot will sullenly settle on Kai's foot, sensing that there's a rather serious problem here. and Kai will just watch as Axel collects things, trying not to look at his hand.]

[wets a length of clean bandage with cool water and turns back to Kai to carefully wrap it around the burned hand, loosely enough that it shouldn't hurt. once he's secured the end of it, he quickly tucks the other supplies away into his pockets, grabbing a couple of clean towels for the road, and then gets a hand under Kai's elbow again. they can do the rest once Kai's lying down.]

[it makes him tense all the same, expecting it to hurt, but slumping a bit when it doesn't. he'll be very happy when he can lie down.]

[it'll probably hurt later when I dump potion on it, if that makes you feel better. helps him up, nudging Apricot to go on out the door, and slowly leads the way to their room, pushing the door open once they get there. he's going to take some extra steps later to secure the room, but he needs to get Kai settled first.]

[no, it'll make him feel worse. the slump was of relief. 8< he'll just... go along with whatever Axel tries to get him to do, the only noises out of him coming when he moves his hand too much.]

[guides him to sit on the bed, and moves the pillows so Kai can lie down flat with his legs propped up. once that's done, Axel sits on the edge of the bed, scooting worriedbun out of the way, and sets a towel under Kai's elbow before slowly unwrapping the wet bandage.]

This is probably going to sting a little.

[well, he trusts Axel, so he'll just... try to block out any pain. maybe he should try to meditate or something.]
