[After the dubious success of the surge of Heartless some time earlier, Xemnas has decided that perhaps things would best be served by taking a rather less active role in the affairs of the Dressing Room. The people who need to speak to him will find him sooner or later, and in the meantime, he's settled himself into a room that looks very much like the room one over from his Altar - the first in the grand complex of rooms that he considered 'his' in the Castle at World's End.

It serves as an adequate place to tend to his notes, after all, and that is precisely what he's doing at the moment.]

[Xemnas is more than a little annoyed that he's included in the blast as well. He's hardly doing anything, although he supposes that the blast may not be anywhere near tunable enough to miss him and focus on the only other active participant in the fight. Still, it's maddening and in defiance he stays perfectly upright, despite the force of the blast.

It's the least he can do.]

[Kai grits his teeth and throws up a shield as he continues forward, though it does little against the pulse of power. still, he ignores it as best he can, glancing from Saix to the moon... and he changes direction, building up Light as he does so. it's a foolish idea, but for now it'll have to do.]

[He's noticed it. He's very much noticed it, and it's uncomfortable for more reason than the rather immediate pain. He just isn't quite sure why it's uncomfortable, beyond a sort of vague unsettling feeling.

He puts it out of his mind, after a moment, and returns to watching the fight, holding himself together... and waiting.]

[quick he can do; three swift lines with his paintbrush has time slowing for just a few seconds. but that's all the time he'll need to get out of the way, even if it's not by much. he's entirely ready to do it again if needed.

once the time speeds back up and he's just out of reach, the paintbrush is drawing a quick infinity sign; cue the explosion by Saix right after it fades.]

[That is something Xemnas hadn't expected, but the surprise turns to rage almost as soon as it appears. How dare Saïx try to pull control from him. Him, the leader of the Organization and of all that Saïx by rights ought to belong to, and in the space of a moment, he's resisting with all his force.

It may be the ruin of an arm, but it's his arm and he will control it, as he clamps down as much as his can on his power and focuses every ounce of his will that he can yet muster to force that arm to change the aim so that the blast will miss Kai entirely.]

[this... thing that Saix is right now, whatever he is, it disgusts Kai and he keeps moving, especially when he feels the sudden jump in power behind him. a shield goes up in the way, though as weak as it is, it probably wouldn't do much.]

[Xemnas seethes. Not so much at the loss of his arm (regrettable though it is) but that gall of it all, and in that moment he decides. It may not be now but he will destroy Saïx, and it will be painful.

Very painful, he amends a moment later.]

[for all the bad luck this boy has concerning injury to his person, it's incredibly surprising when it doesn't kick in for once and he... trips, the attack shooting harmlessly above him. with his weapons in hand, he has a hard time catching himself when he falls and winces as he lands wrong. he won't complain, of course; it could have been much, much worse with that lightning.]

[There's the faintest hint of relief as the lightning misses Kai. If this is to have any sort of useful outcome, then he needs Kai to at least not die right away.

Not that he can do anything to save him or help him, apart from watching. But watch he shall. Watch, and above all, learn.]

[there's a short scream from him as he's thrown, cut off when he lands by Xemnas. he's in pain, though not as much as Xemnas must be. he's really not used to fighting like this and struggles to get up after a moment. Light washes over him as he stands, healing his injuries at least momentarily, filling him with something like adrenaline. his paintbrush is broken, which is a shame. no more ink, no more explosions or lightning or ice or slowing time for him~. he's digging into his reserves now and is more or less glowing once he's pulled up what he thinks will be enough to go at Saix head on again.]

[then perhaps it's too bad that Kai has no plans to move in for the attack just yet; instead, Light courses along his weapon and he swings it, sending a thick wave in Saix's direction.]

[this is not the kind of thing he wants to lose; more Light gets pushed out, whether to strengthen his own attack or protect him from the violent collision he's not even sure of at this point. both, most likely. he wants to keep Saix away until he's ready to attack, until he thinks up some sort of plan.]
