[there is a very frazzled-looking older Kai passed out in a chair in this room, looking very much like he'd simply collapsed in it and proceeded to fall asleep. he's in comfortable clothing, with an apron thrown over it all, and probably smells like a kitchen that's seen a whole lot of use recently. with his Axel pregnant, he's been doing a lot of cooking, and even more worrying. he's been getting some sleep, but everything's starting to catch up with him.]

[nooooo babby why you do that. his brow furrows at the noise and he shifts, frowning.]

[Because babies don't have volume control. Riku gives Kairi a little push to get her going, and then makes her way inside to check on Kai.]

[IT'S TOO LATE, HE'S WAKING UP. good job ladies.]

[dawningcoast]

[Silly Kai, it's not their fault. Riku's made her way to his chair, too, and is just waiting for him to open his eyes.]

[who brought the babby over, huh. well, he'll open his eyes in a minute or so, squinting at Riku as he does.]

Hey.

[dawningcoast]

Hey. Go back to sleep.

[It's not like they brought her in. Babby is babbling quietly at the doorway, though, because Kairi has not left yet.]

Easier said than done.

[sits up a bit, glancing to the doorway at the babbybabble.]

[Kairi offers up a small grin and a wave, and seeing her do this, Akane waves too. Riku is shooting Kairi a look, raised eyebrows and all.]

They're going.

Not quite what I meant.

[honestly, he wouldn't mind them coming in, and totally waved back when Kairi and Akane did.]

[She jerks her thumb in Kairi's direction.]

She hasn't cast a successful Sleep spell so far, but I'm sure she'd be willing to use you for practice.

Nnnnno, but thanks all the same.

[dawningcoast]

[Riku shrugs in a 'your loss' kind of way, and moves to put her hand on Kai's forehead. Her voice is low, and soft.]

You're pushing yourself hard.

[Again.]

[hush. he has the decency to look properly chastised at that, at least.]

I'm just worried.

[dawningcoast]

[As he should. She's not going to yell at him or anything, but she is frowning.]

I understand.

Somehow figured you would.

[he groans, sliding down in the chair.]

I have no idea what I'm doing. Axel's due next month.

[dawningcoast]

[Well, she did more than likely go to see him near tears at the beginning of her own pregnancy.]

And things will be fine. You've already put everything you have into taking care of him.

[Kairi-and-Akane have mysteriously disappeared, by the way.]

[that's quite probably, yeah.]

I know, I know...

[dawningcoast]

[...probably more than once. Either way. Riku pushes his hair back softly, then removes her hand to stuff it into her pockets.]

You know you just need to say the word and I'll do anything I can. Even if you just need a break for an hour.

You should.

[She aims a smack for his arm, but it's a light one. Totally fake. Come on, she's handling two kids suddenly and she looks better. ...slightly. There are still dark circles under her eyes.]

How's Axel?

[psh. she should get someone else to babysit once in a while.]

He's fine. Taking this much better than I am.

[and probably killing me with hormones--]

[Kairi's watching Akane today! She doesn't really trust many people with Aden, though. Just close family. She's yet to let go of that initial overprotective mode. Also, Kai and Red could maybe bond over that.]

That seems pretty common around here.

[it's kind of sad that all bonding would happen offscreen.]

Yeah.

[dawningcoast]

[It is. But it should still happen. One has to wonder how many times Red got mauled.]
