[back down a certain heavily occupied hallway there's a little kid and several stacks of cards. Sora knows how to play Go Fish and the like, and although doing so with these is entirely plausible, he learned quickly that he can do a different sort of trick with the cards. he's pretty sure he has no use for the bright red cards with weapons on the front, though after poking through a different stack of blue cards, he discovered he could create a tiny wisp of fire and a tiny block of ice! Sora hopes he won't get in trouble for the little black spot on the wall that's still smoldering.]

[he's also discovered stack of cards piled neatly next to a locked door Sora is pretty sure wasn't there when he woke up this morning. setting the door on fire didn't work, so now he's plopped down next to it, shuffling through the new stack.]

... Teeming darkness?

I have a room where you can try them. But you really have to know what the cards do. Can you name them for me?

[shuffles through his magic cards, holding them up one at a time as he goes, as if they were flash cards.]

This one is Fire! An' this one makes ice cubes! And.. This one's got a green blob on it..

*he nods in approval, because you're very smart*

Fire, Ice, and the green one is Cure, for if you get a little hurt. And this one is Thunder. You're going to need all of these magic cards except the Cure, okay? This will be a very special game, so you have to think fast.

[very carefully tucks his Cure cards away, then starts to sort the others by type. seems Sora's deck tends to favor the Fire cards.]

*he approves of your sorting, and pulls out a card of his own, going to the door in the wall*

Now, in the room I open will be very special Heartless. They won't hurt you and just wanna play a game. You have to figure out the game and use the right kind of magic, and then you get a special prize. But if you're wrong, they'll get sulky and leave. Got it?

*guess what card he has~*

[luckily, White Mushrooms are pretty easy to locate- he runs up to the first one he spots, clutching his cards.]

*the White Mushroom looks at you, then wraps its arms around itself, shivering!*

[it is a tiny little fireball, but away it goes! hopefully that's even enough for the Heartless to notice it.]

[he nearly drops his deck in his excitement to get to the Ice cards, but soon he's summoned a small ice cube, which he tries to give to the Mushroom.]

*Ri tries not to laugh, and the Heartless looks a bit confused, but accepts the ice cube, and then shivers again*

Oh, he's cold again!

[he's so frantic in shuffling through cards, he doesn't realize he's grabbing more than one at once- instead of a tiny wisp of fire like he gave the Mushroom earlier, he unintentionally blasts it with a Fira. behold, Sora's very first sleight!]

*both Ri and the Heartless are surprised, but that works well enough so the White Mushroom bounces and claps before whirling away; have some munny and other miscellaneous prizes*

I did it!

[scoops up the munny and a brand new card- he'll look at it later- and scrambles over to another Mushroom to try again. unfortunately, Sora is a bit too enthusiastic, and promptly sets the Mushroom on fire before it even has a chance to react.]

*the Mushroom huffs and stomps its foot at you before it disappears with an annoyed huff*

Awww, 'bug. You didn't wait. That was the wrong thing to do, so it didn't wan to play with you anymore.

[Sora seems to more or less have the hang of the game now, and things truck along smoothly at first; however, after two successful hits, after getting carried away with sleighting two or three cards at once, he's suddenly out of cards!]
