Music is the only solace

[Axel is not usually one to reminisce, or to think about what he had, or the past much. He's built his life by doing what had to be done, and not thinking of burnt bridges. But, for some reason, he's thinking of all the people he's left behind, all the nameless faces of people he's been with in his business, all his family and friends. And he's missing them.

So that would probably be the reason he's sitting in the middle of one of the common areas with a guitar slung over his shoulder. Right now he's just tuning it, but soon a melody starts to come forth. And then he sings. Feel free to listen, or even join in.]

[Axel realizes he's there, but he'll continue to play the song until it's done. Afterward, he'll lay the guitar on his lap.]

I guess I'm feeling maudlin, and that song just called to be played. I don't play much, only when the mood strikes me and it's always what the mood demands.

It was still really good, though. I've never heard Hallelujah sung like that before.

Thanks it's a remake that someone did a while ago. Leonard Cohen, I believe. The version I was singing was by a musician on my world, Rufus Wainwright. It's one of my favorite songs.

Large? This is the right size for this model of guitar.

Guitar? Maybe that's why it looks different. Where I'm from we call them lutes.

Ah I see. No Lute's are a smaller version. Well they are a different instrument all together.

Yeah, it's easier to hold onto and tune that way. The knobs at the top, we'll they're the tuning instruments.

Thank you. I've always been partial to an acoustic guitar, there's several different models out there, but this one is my favorite type.

I know how to sing more than anything else, though I'm learning to play the organ. Or well, I was.

Ah, we got hit with more snow yesterday. I'm beginning to beg for summer.

I actually sang in our church's choir. I enjoy singing, but playing is a passion.

It was one of the best things about church. I still love the song Amazing Grace, one of my all time favorites.
