[it's not normal for him to be up in the rafters, but nothing has been normal for him as of late. he hasn't been eating and he hasn't been sleeping and it's obvious by the looks of him. with tired, semi-unfocused eyes, Roxas silently watches as people pass by underneath.]

[it's surprising and not what he'd expect after receiving a look that made him feel like he should just disappear, but he's quick to wrap his arms tightly around Sora's shoulders, closing his tired eyes and burying his face in brown hair.]

[it's like a chain reaction, the punch in the gut for acting the way he did and then the utter guilt at realizing Roxas' current state. his eyes are brimming with tears when he looks up.]

C-come water my flowers with me?

[he's not sure he can find his voice, especially not now, so he just nods silently, his hold on him still as tight.]

[he doesn't want to let go, but there's a heavy bowl of water that needs carrying and it isn't going to carry itself. he slides away slowly and crouches down to hoist it up, grunting.]

[letting him go is something he forces himself to do, and immediately, he missed the warmth and smell and the softness that is Sora. almost too much.]

... Let me carry it.

[bites his lip, frowning.]

I don't mean to be a jerk, but you don't look like you're in any shape to do that.

[the longer he sticks around, the more he feels like maybe he should just disappear, but he can't make himself leave. not when he's spent the last three days awake thinking, wondering if Sora had done it, if he was gone, only to have him show up out of nowhere. he can't just walk away after all that.]

Hey ... [he bumps into Roxas lightly, the water sloshing with his movement.]

Chin up, okay? ... I'm sorry for the stupid things I said.

[that doesn't change the fact that you said them, sora... but he'll try, nodding once. now, I believe there are some flowers that need watering.]

[his tone is sort of flat though he means every word, stepping forward and keeping his eyes on the bowl as he walks.]

[he's hoping there won't be a next time, but he'll keep that to himself. roxas follows behind him quietly, eyes focused on the pink embroidery of Sora's dress.]

[they eventually get there, and because he's trying to keep steady with Roxas' tired slide he's managed to keep at least a little bit more water than he would've, setting the bowl down beside the open doorway. within the room is a hardwood floor that's cut out in several places, allowing flowers and trees to grow up to the tall glass ceiling. the room is narrow but stretches out for quite a bit.]

This place used to be just a couple of trees and gross soil.

[it's the only thing he's ever really been proud of.]

[lingers, leaning heavily against the door frame, taking it all in. it's different, pretty. unique.

he smiles tiredly.]

... And you turned it into this?

Yeah. When I wasn't with you or Riku, this was what I was doing.

[he motions for Roxas to come over, kneeling down behind a tree.]

[leans away from the door frame and shuffles his way over.]

[behind the tree is a large blanket, the edge rolled up into a makeshift pillow. yeah, he's camped out here before. he pats his thigh, inviting Roxas down to lay against him.]

[blinks slowly, and then after a moment, he settles down, carefully placing his head in Sora's lap.]

[huffs out a sigh, resting his back against the tree and running his fingers through Roxas' bangs.]

I'll water my flowers later. You should sleep.

[he starts to protest, but the fingers in his hair are distracting. they feel good and they make him sleepy, and roxas fights to keep his eyes open.]

[leans down, kissing Roxas' forehead.]

[snakes one arm around Sora's middle, fingers grasping the back of his shirt.]

... I love you.

M'sorry. I love you too, and I'll try harder for you and Riku. I won't hurt myself ever, okay? Even if I get so crazy I take the pills with me, I won't, because I don't really want to go.

[keeps on stroking his hair, fingers trailing across his cheek.]

When you get up, I'm cooking you a big breakfast, too.

[his exhaustion is evident. he can hardly keep his eyes open, hardly respond respond past quiet hums, and those fingers in his hair and the light touches to his cheek are only helping him relax more, until finally, his eyes close and his breath evens out.]

[then Sora relaxes back against the tree. he has a feeling he won't sleep, but because he knows he'll be here for a while, there's no harm in trying.]

[he sleeps like a rock-- doesn't move, doesn't make a sound outside of his quiet breathing, and who knows how long it is before he finally stirs, shifting and inhaling deeply through his nose.]
