[ Ever since she gained a pure heart (and in turn lost her weapon) she's avoided the darker areas of the dressing room as best she can. But today it seems like no matter where she goes the shadows follow. It's at the entrance to the garden that they finally catch up, the hall going dim and lights flickering out.

Riku gives a startled and pained yell, one that comes out in two entirely different voices, and doubles over. The scent of darkness is overwhelming at this point, and she's clutching at her chest, black sludge spilling past her fingers to drip on the floor. ]

[hey look it's someone who's very much not a Nobody. the growing darkness had caught his attention and he'd already been heading that way, but the yell makes him dash the last bit until Riku comes into view.]

Riku?!

[Riku's dropped to her knees, one hand on the ground to balance herself. It's slowly getting coated in black as a result of the puddle forming on the ground, and she's keeping silent, gritting her teeth to prevent any screaming.]

[hesitantly moves closer, eying the puddle of darkness on the ground.]

[that darkness is actually moving, forming the shape of her shadow under her. but Riku's spotted him now, and she's leaning in the other direction.]

Go.

But-

[it'll take a lot more than one word to get him to leave her here like this.]

[well, that's obvious. and he's keeping his distance from her--probably quite a few yards away--while he tries to jerk at those Shadows. he's not too good at Heartless manipulation, his younger self is better, but he can try.]

[the shadows seem very determined, the darkness itself intending to overwhelm her, and right now Riku's not appreciating it. there's a large puddle splattered against the ground at this point, still growing.]

[that makes her eyes widen, and she grits her teeth.]

[that's a very fierce glare being sent her way in warning, Riku curling in on herself.]

Unnecessary emotion will only hasten the spread of the darkness.

[that's 'Ansem's voice beneath her own, but Riku doesn't seem to notice.]

[Kurt just had to investigate where the floods of darkness were coming from, really. He slows, watches...]

[she's got her eyes squeezed shut at this point, hand gripping her chest. her senses are mixed up beyond the point of recognizing who could be there beyond the Heartless, so she doesn't notice him.]

[He moves closer, trying to get a feel for what's happening here.]

Is it troubling you?

[what's happening is half of her light is about to be burned and blackened into nothing, but right now darkness is just spilling out of her chest from nowhere at all. Riku isn't going to answer that, either, but she is going to send him a glare.]

[that's enough to get her to lean away, curling against the wall and glaring down at the floor.]
