[ Ever since she gained a pure heart (and in turn lost her weapon) she's avoided the darker areas of the dressing room as best she can. But today it seems like no matter where she goes the shadows follow. It's at the entrance to the garden that they finally catch up, the hall going dim and lights flickering out.

Riku gives a startled and pained yell, one that comes out in two entirely different voices, and doubles over. The scent of darkness is overwhelming at this point, and she's clutching at her chest, black sludge spilling past her fingers to drip on the floor. ]

[hey look it's someone who's very much not a Nobody. the growing darkness had caught his attention and he'd already been heading that way, but the yell makes him dash the last bit until Riku comes into view.]

Riku?!

[dawnrise]

[Riku's dropped to her knees, one hand on the ground to balance herself. It's slowly getting coated in black as a result of the puddle forming on the ground, and she's keeping silent, gritting her teeth to prevent any screaming.]

[seasides]

[hesitantly moves closer, eying the puddle of darkness on the ground.]

[dawnrise]

[that darkness is actually moving, forming the shape of her shadow under her. but Riku's spotted him now, and she's leaning in the other direction.]

Go.

[seasides]

But-

[it'll take a lot more than one word to get him to leave her here like this.]

[dawnrise]

Just go!

[there's another voice underlying her own, but Kai should recognize it. the sludge has stopped dripping, flattening out against the ground and remaining that way.]

[seasides]

[still not leaving, eyes darting from the darkness to Riku and back again.]

There has to be something I can do.

[well, that's obvious. and he's keeping his distance from her--probably quite a few yards away--while he tries to jerk at those Shadows. he's not too good at Heartless manipulation, his younger self is better, but he can try.]

There's not!

[pushes herself over, crashing against the wall and shutting her eyes tightly. the darkness suddenly rears up and clings to the exposed skin of her arms and face, quickly being sucked against it.]

[seasides]

[takes a step forward, alarmed. rational part of his brain is pointing out that she's probably just going back to normal now, but that doesn't stop him from worrying.]

[the shadows seem very determined, the darkness itself intending to overwhelm her, and right now Riku's not appreciating it. there's a large puddle splattered against the ground at this point, still growing.]

[dawnrise]

[it must be an interesting sight, pure black wrapping Riku up completely underneath her clothes. her arms look gloved at this point, and the darkness around her hands glistens red and blue.]

L-Listen to me.

[seasides]

I don't want to leave you like this.

[not really caring how interesting it looks at the moment.]

[dawnrise]

[turns away from him, because it's too much pain at this point to keep arguing. the darkness surrounding her, the part that isn't clinging to her skin, lashes out violently. seems it wants to keep him away too.]

[takes a few steps back at that, but he's still not leaving.]

And so all succumb to the inevitable.

[dawnrise]

[it's coming straight for him at this point. Riku's busy fighting off the pain, black wisps of smoke rising from her skin.]

[damn it all. backpedals, glaring at the darkness.]

I... I'll come back to make sure you're okay. Promise.

[dawnrise]

[that's a very fierce glare being sent her way in warning, Riku curling in on herself.]

Get out.

[dawnrise]

[opens her eyes half way to look at him, nodding through the pain, because if she opens her mouth she'll scream. the black on her skin is peeling away starting at her finger tips, slipping down her throat.]

[seasides]

[grimaces and turns to leave before he gives in to the urge to try and save her.]

[Kurt just had to investigate where the floods of darkness were coming from, really. He slows, watches...]

[she can't say it now - even if she wasn't in pain she's choking on the darkness at this point - but she really does appreciate it.]

[disappears around the corner, feeling bad. he'll be back in a half hour, probably periodically.]
