[he's seated in a large beanbag chair with Molly on his lap, petting him and looking faintly annoyed with the world at large. after a moment he pauses as if listening to something, then leans down and hugs the kitten.]

I know it's uncomfortable, Kai, but I don't know how to fix this.

*d'awwww Kaikitten is all floppy*

[doesn't respond, closing his eyes and ignoring them. Kaikitten is still sleepily batting at Ri.]

*sighs and cradles Kaikitten against his chest as he stands, then goes to you and picks you up and sets you on his hip; there is no escape!*

[--! resists the urge to flail.]

Because you're tired and that will make you crankier so it's time for your nap.

Kai always says that, too. I still make him take his naps. He's a little boy and you're in his body.

*lalala goes to Kai's room*

I don't want to sleep.

[as much as he doesn't want to sleep, having a child's body catches up with him, and soon both child and kitten are curled up and sleeping.]

*he'll take that as a win and makes sure you're covered properly and warm*

[it's a good thing you changed your tune there, Ri; Molly was starting to consider leaving once the swap was over.]

*well, he is a sucker for small kids and fluffy animals*

[good. as it is, Molly might just make himself scarce whenever Ri's around.]
