[ caught in all the excitement and fighting, Patch limps toward a pillow thrown to the floor. he's tired of running and his left hind leg hurts too much to take him further. it's broken, he suspects, and flops onto the pillow with a whimper. ]

[ Patch looks like the saddest puppy ever settled against the leg of a table. he was playing with a little red ball beforehand, but now it's still, just barely brushing against his nose when he sighs. ]
