[without his Axel around, he doesn't really have much of a purpose.. or so he believes. after spending the majority of his day looking for his red head and/or a way out, he's found himself alone in the kitchen, sitting indian-style in one of the chairs. one hand rests on the table, his fingers tapping sporadically, his eyes unfocused and staring at the table]

[jumps, jerking his head up and inhaling sharply through his nose. he blinks, staring at Axel for a few seconds, a speck of hope flickering in his two-tone eyes. it doesn't take long, though, for him to realize that this isn't his Axel. even so, he smiles faintly.]

[ruffles his hair affectionately]

You okay, kiddo?

[he squints just slightly as Axel raises that had to ruffle his hair, fingers curling against the table. he nods, relaxing]

[scoots his chair closer, still baffled by those two-tone eyes]

[it wasn't a matter of missing him, but more that if he was gone for too long, he was afraid of what Axel might do]

[a dream. the thumb rubbing against his hand is calming, almost familiar.]

When I first showed up here, I thought I was hallucinating from too much to drink the night before.

[opens his mouth to reply, but then closes it again and swallows. he takes a minute to word himself carefully, and when he speaks, he doesn't meet Axel's eyes, focusing on his hand instead]

I just...d-don't like going back on my word.

[something abotu what Axel said rubs him the wrong way and it's evident in the way he tenses and pulls his hand away]

[pulls at a loose thread in his sock, and then after a moment, he places one hand over his other, covering his tattoo]

...How young is he?

[when Axel said his son was younger, he was thinking maybe two or three years..]
