[This seems to be a recurring theme for him. Not him personally, but for Axels in general.

He's not in very good shape, and that's putting it delicately. This Axel here made it about half a room away from where he'd been taken out in two hits by Sephiroth but it had been enough to exhaust him. He was dizzy, his head hurt, his back stung (to say the least), and he felt about five minutes from death, if that. He would still insist that Sephiroth's last move there had been a cheap shot. Of course, he should have seen that coming. Live and learn, right?

The living part might prove difficult.

He's on the floor. He doesn't like being on the floor, as what's left of his dignity insists it's not a very good place to be. He'd tried to roll over onto his back but remembered quickly why that was a bad idea and instead was on his side, sort of, forehead pressed against the ground. There are several fairly deep slashes in his back, blood darkening his coat and visible on his quickly paling skin where his coat had been cut to ribbons. His eyes are closed, either out of a lack of consciousness or sleep, it's difficult to tell, but he is alive still, which is indicated by his shallow breathing. Having nearly all of the life energy drained out of you was not a fun experience, Axel now knew.]

It will happen eventually because it's an inevitability for anything alive. There's no such thing as true immorality.

You'll die too, that's just how it is.

Yeah, I know... I wouldn't want to live forever, it's just that "in a while" doesn't give you any idea of a time span...

There's a rule for death gods that states we mustn't tell the details of a death, including exactly how much time is left until then.

... That's probably a good rule. I don't really want to know how I die... you'd probably just spend the rest of your life wasting away waiting to die.

[Something in his expression changes.]

...True. I've seen that happen to those who've learned of their deaths beforehand. It's not fun to watch.

Yeah... I bet it's not.
