SUDDENLY, FOR NO EXPLAINED REASON

[A ROUSING CHORUS OF 'ONE WINGED ANGEL' ECHOES THROUGH THE HALLS]
[BLACK FEATHERS FALLING IN RANDOM PLACES]

[and then, so hauntingly, the piano begins to play a dark melody. a cold voice rings out as if chasing each note.]

Let your souls wander unto the endless night
Into dark and far from Light
Until your hearts are lost from sight

Wander unto endless night~

[hey gaiz yeah, it's KH Sephy, playing the piano by himself and scaring you all women and children and AUs and warriors, whoever, feel free t be drawn to the room and listen to him or attack him or just be scared~ (and yes I made up the song :D]

An old friend of mine once told me that many of the worlds which he watched over had a unified fancy for musical numbers.

...that's convenient. Was everyone supposed to sing?

He said it was a very spontaneous thing that the denizens had a proficiency for. I saw it once whilst visiting, they put on a marvelous number. Very catchy.

...so... if you were caught in it, you had no choice but to participate?

[ooc: brb rofling]

Usually the locals sang on their own, but King Mickey invited me to give it a try once or twice. I'm partial to the tune those soldiers sang while they were training. Sometimes I still hum it.

Oh. Interesting. Can you try humming it now?

[ooc: If I ever get the chance, Ansem is totally going there.]

I might still remember some of the lyrics, give me just a moment to see if I can recall a line or so.

[Takes a moment to clear his throat.]

Let's get down to business! To defeat-
The Huns!
Why did they send me daughters?
When I asked-
For sons?
You're the saddest bunch I ever met!
But you can bet before we're through,
Mister I'll make a man out of you!

I hardly do it justice, the captain was certainly as gifted at singing as he was at combat. It worked wonders for invoking morale.

[Listens, then claps a bit] It's good, but what's with the lyrics? It's like they're looking down at women or something.

From what I observed, their culture was very patriarchal, and it was an egregious dishonor for a woman to fight.

But who knows, maybe things have changed?

[identity profile] memory-forger.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
...I bet a woman would be able to achieve something none of the males can.

[identity profile] radianceinzero.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well any woman bold enough to go against societal conventions would certainly be intelligent and courageous enough to do great things. It's tragic when archaic social cues dictate what an individual can and cannot do.
