[In the middle of all this latest mess, Nami is pretty calm. As far as he can tell, he hasn't been hit by whatever spell has popped up, and he hasn't run into anything troubling yet!

Which is nice, because it's been giving him time to get used to the pair of birds he's found himself saddled with. He'd found the injured one in one of the outdoor rooms a couple days ago and decided he couldn't just leave her there... and then the other one showed up and refused to be left behind. And now they don't seem to want to leave him, but he's slowly becoming okay with that. Birds and cages are kind of a thing with him, so this? Not something he'd ever thought of.

Right now he's in the beach room, trying to draw while the bird with its wing wrapped climbs up and down his arm using its feet and beak. The other is fluttering overhead, occasionally coasting to the water's edge to poke at shell fragments and shards of driftwood, or landing to nuzzle at its grounded mate.]

[given the distractions and the noise of the ocean, it's unlikely he'll hear the noise of a snake gliding easily over the sand, even a snake as large as this one. it's a familiar deep red, with some darker striping on its head and neck, and yellow eyes, and is probably fifteen feet in length. Nami's too large for an easy meal, and the birds are far too small for even a snack, so it must be some sense of familiarity that's making it approach.]

[The bird in flight swings overhead in a brief warning, brave for such a little thing, but the both of them seem pretty chill about a giant snake. Nami looks over when the bird on his arm chirps loudly, surprise plain on his face. He recognizes those colours, more or less, and considering the spell stuff he's seen so far today...]

Axel?

[there's no sign that Nami's been heard at all, but the snake isn't moving aggressively, so there shouldn't be anything to worry about. when it gets close enough, it stops and rears up to be at eye level with him, just swaying there slightly like it's waiting for him to do something.]

[Thoughtful, Nami reaches out slowly, letting his hand stop just shy of touching the snake's nose. The bird on him has climbed its way up to his shoulder and shoved itself into the front of his shirt, glowering at the snake like that will make it leave.]

[he's getting a forked tongue tickling at his fingers, but now it's directly confirmed that this is Nami, and lowers itself to drape across his lap. it seems to be making itself comfortable, quickly winding itself around his waist and one of his legs so that it has as much contact with him as possible for warmth. hope you were planning on staying a bit longer, Nami.]

[He laughs softly and runs his hand gently over the snake's head, setting his sketchbook aside. The bird in his shirt is throwing a little tantrum over the snake's presence, but Nami seems to be ignoring it.]

[fuck you too, bird. for now the snake seems content to just be still. after another few minutes Nami might notice what appears to be a regular human or Nobody Axel approaching from the door, except that all he's wearing is a blanket tied around his waist and knotted at one hip, and he seems incredibly unsure about this walking business, and how feet and legs work. he keeps stopping, swaying to get his balance back, and then cautiously taking a few more steps forward, focused purely on his feet and the ground.]

[The bird in flight lets out a string of noise when it sees Axel, making Nami look away from the snake. Given... you know, the snake, and the spell that seems to be going around, he can hazard a guess as to who exactly this Axel is. Adjusting the snake carefully, he stands up to make his way over.]

[he stumbles a bit when he sees Nami in his peripheral vision, surprised at his sudden proximity, and stops moving entirely when he sees the snake Nami's wearing.]

I suppose it makes sense that he would have found you, if he was even searching for anything in particular. I am very lucky to have found you as well.

[up close, Nami will be able to tell that the primary difference in Axel besides the addition of legs is that his mouth and jaw are entirely human in structure; he seems to be having trouble with his tongue now, and his sharp teeth are all gone. so are the patchy scales on his skin, but the other oddities of his anatomy are still there (or not there, as the case may be).]

I'm glad you both did. You been managing walking okay enough, then?

[He'll offer an arm for Axel to attach himself to regardless, though of course it doesn't need to be taken.]

Well enough. I have not fallen, but it is very slow.

[he does actually take Nami's arm for stability, but he's not leaning on it or anything. he seems almost surprised to see ocean ahead of them.]

Sounds like you're doing really well, if you haven't even fallen. Did the two of you start off in the same place?

Yes, we were both in my den, but he left almost immediately.

[he reaches carefully with his free hand to touch the snake's head.]

Looks like you've made some buddies.

[Nami should recognize that voice easily, but he's probably never seen her like this. Not with these casual clothes and, you know, a Heart. She kind of snuck up on him, and she'll apologize for that, but she's interested in what he's drawing.]

[Nami startles at the unexpected but familiar voice, pencil sending a jagged line across the page. He looks at Lea with wide eyes, a teensy bit speechless.]

[She looks startled by his reaction, and holds her hands up as a sign for peace.]

Relax, I'm not up to anything. Cross my heart.

[That apparently gets him focused and he offers an apologetic, if slightly confused smile.]

I didn't think- I just wasn't expecting to see... you. It's okay.

Figured that one out myself. Didn't Riku tell you I was here?

[Gosh, Riku. Still a real jerk sometimes.]

It's... different to see someone, whether you know they're around or not.

[That's vague enough that Riku probably did tell him right.]

No kidding. Stand up for me.

[She looks amused, but also a little stunned herself, just because... man the Nami she last saw was around fifteen in appearance, alright.]

[He puts his things aside and ruffles the head feathers of the bird clinging to his shoulder before standing up and brushing sand from his pants. He's still not terribly tall for a guy, but he's at about 5'8" now, which is probably a good few inches taller than what he was at when Lea last saw him.]

[She moves closer to get a better perspective of his height, but she's grinning, and not in a way that's entirely teasing.]

Can't say I ever thought I'd see this.

[He's maybe two inches shorter than her, but she means that for more reasons than Nami's height. She did die, after all.]

That makes two of us.

[Does he mean seeing her, or seeing himself this age? Who knows.]

[Either way, there's a smile on her face, and it's full of a lot more life and genuine fondness than he probably ever saw from her in the past.]

You look good. Really. No jokes about it.

Thanks. I've been pretty good... and I could say the same to you, really.

[He smiles, small but definitely quite happy. Having a heart is great, isn't it?]
