[ It's been a while since anyone saw this guy, and the reason is simple. He's been hiding out. For months.

But here he is now! He's lying down flat on his back beneath a very large Christmas tree. There are no ornaments, just several strings of lights that Larxene is fucking around with, making them blink and flicker. His hair's gotten somewhat longer and messier from lack of upkeep, but it's clean, and so's he. He looks irritable, to say the least, but it's unlikely that he'll lash out at anyone. Well, as unlikely as it can with any Larxene.

He almost seems troubled by something. ]

[Riku pauses in the doorway, listening. He has the uncanny knowledge that someone is in the room, but doesn't actually know who it is. He has a thick book in one hand and a white cane in the other, and sweeps the cane in front of himself until he finds an armchair to settle on.]

[thundery]

[Larxene stops screwing around with the lights long enough to look over at him, fairly passive.]

Can I help you?

It smells nice in here. Am I bothering you?

[Hm, the voice is vaguely familiar but not enough to set off any alarm bells.]

[thundery]

Not yet.

[There's an underlying threat there, because it's a very real possibility. But that's the truth. For now.]

[indarknesslost]

Mm.

[In that case, he's going back to what he intended in the first place: settling down to read. He hasn't actually looked at Larx at all so far, so if he's surprised to hear the voice coming from the floor, he doesn't show it.]

[thundery]

[He saw the cane. He's come to the obvious conclusion from that, and doesn't care to ask.]

Fan of the Christmas smell?

Is that what time of year it is? I thought it was near Easter.

[He looks honestly surprised, for all of five seconds. He thinks Larx is trying to needle him into getting irritated.]

[thundery]

I'm feeling the spirit, so I'm going to warn you right now that I'm not in the mood for jokes.

[indarknesslost]

I thought you were mocking me.

[Page flip. He isn't apologizing.]

[thundery]

I wasn't, but I could.

[Easily, by his tone. This guy's not a fan of Rikus!]

I'll pass. What are you doing over there, anyway?

[thundery]

Witnessing a murder.

[Flat as anything.]

Very funny. I know there's no one else here, and you were already doing.. whatever before I came in.

[Riku really is curious, and doubly so as to who it is he's speaking to. He isn't used to running into gender-swapped multiples, and certainly wouldn't willingly have plopped down knowing this was a Larxene.]

You know, I somehow doubt anyone asked for you for Christmas.

[which is, of course, said in regards to Larxene being under a tree. but of course since this is Kai, he doesn't sound mean about it. amused in a sort of resigned way, maybe, but not mean.]

[thundery]

You don't know that.

[Good morning, sunshine. Here he is completely unsurprised Kai would approach him. Of all people.]

[seasides]

Well, okay, no one who would actually get a gift from Santa.

[a Marluxia might ask for a Larxene for Christmas, who even knows.]

[thundery]

Oh, ouch. That's some pretty narrow options I'm getting. I feel like you might be a little biased, princess.

[Despite the nickname, there's no malice. Notice anything weird, Kai?]

[seasides]

Maybe.

[it's hard not to notice the strangeness to Larxene's actions! he settles nearby, looking curious.]

Someone give you an early Christmas present?

[thundery]

[One of those lights on the tree just popped from a burst of electricity, but the others are staying lit.]

Wrapped it up all nice and pretty. I'd rather have coal.

[seasides]

I don't know, that might attract Axels.

[he doesn't even startle at the light popping. he sort of expected more, actually.]

[thundery]

[Larx would be surprised if he did, to be honest. As it is he just turns his head to look at him, smiling widely, but without any real enjoyment or humor to it.]

I'll pass. I'm sure you can understand why!

[seasides]

Of course, perfectly understandable. So, what happened?

[he's genuinely curious!]

[thundery]

[He scowls at Kai, then pushes up on his elbows so he can lift his head up.]

Look harder.

[Kai should be able to notice that little spark, how he doesn't have to put any effort into 'faking' emotion. Happy Christmas, Larx.]

[seasides]

[he lets out a low whistle. he'd sort of guessed that, but actually looking and making sure is another thing.]

I can't tell if that should be considered a gift or a punishment.

[thundery]

[That scowl turns suddenly fierce.]

This is not a gift. This is a sick joke and I don't want it.
