[In the midst of the constant darkness the dressing room has been experiencing lately, the flickering glow of a fire is fairly common. This particular fire is rather large, the glow visible even outside of the room Shiru's camping in. 'Camping' in the sense that he has a small nest of blankets set up on the floor in front of a fireplace, with a basket of snacks nearby. He's currently occupying himself with marshmallow-roasting.]

[That makes him pause in the middle of carefully removing a marshmallow from his fork.]

Seriously?

That's why I tried to tell you it was dangerous to take a bath. Though I guess it's different here. At home, if you let yourself get soaked like that and get sick, there's not much to do but pray and hope you don't get worse.

I've never heard of anyone getting sick from taking a bath. Or dying. Just don't take cold baths, that's stupid.

Hot water's a luxury, so only the most important people get it. For hot water, you'd have to draw water from the well and heat buckets of it by the fire, then carry it to the room with the wash tub. It's a lot of work, and usually cold after the second person uses it.

Your world sucks. No magic, no hot water, no marshmallows.

[He grins suddenly.]

Well, I could probably live without the marshmallows.

Even if you didn't get killed for being a witch, I don't think you'd last very long. You're too used to everything being easy. Even your water is easy to get, all you have to do is turn a handle.

Not always. There isn't running water everywhere; sometimes you still have to get it from a well.

But yeah...most things are easy.

... Can I have another marshmallow?

[He's finished licking the remnants of the last one from his fingers, and though he's still a little wary of Shiru's new features, the talking has helped.]

Yeah...there's a bunch of them here, too.

[He shakes the open marshmallow bag, then after a brief search, finds his snack basket and moves that nearer to Sora.]

And other stuff. Pretzels, candy...whatever I could fit in here that doesn't need to be cooked.

Candy?

[Guess what else he hasn't had.]

[That's a feat, living with Shiru and not having eaten candy. Then again, Shiru tends to hide it in his room so Riku can't throw it away.]

Yeah! You know...chocolate, mints, taffy...candy.

[Pretty much anything you could get trick-or-treating, he has at least one of it with him.]

I like chocolate.

[That at least, he's been introduced to. He has no idea what those other things are. Still, he looks intrigued. If Shiru were actually trying to trap Sora into something as a demon, this would be the moment he'd know for sure that he'd won.]

Me too. Riku does, sometimes, but he'll only eat the bitter kind. Dark chocolate really isn't as good as it sounds.

[He makes a face and pulls out a large chocolate bar, unwrapping it and breaking off a few squares to hand to Sora. He's a terrible demon and isn't actually trying to trap Sora into anything...unless giving him a sugar high counts.]

Shiru... Do you think there's a lot of monsters out there?

[Sora will quietly suck on the chocolate, wondering that there's even a difference. He's going to have it melted all over his hands at this rate, but it'll be worth it.]
